Too many commercials not enough show

Seriously, has anyone tracked the actual length of an episode versus the commercials? I am a big fan, tape this show every week but always am disappointed that the show itself seem to be 20minute with 40minutes of commercials. And now I hear there are only 3 episodes left! Amazing, almost near the end and all they have done is go to a bar, save some kid, and stop a suicide. I have other shows that are just as addictive and they do not have the amount of commecials in them as this one.

Andrea needs to die

Andrea is awesome in the comics, but in the tv show she is the most annoying ignorant idiot ever. She seems to get being hyper aggressive confused with being tough, like being a bitch to everyone is going to gain respect. Can't tell if it's the actress or the writers but the character is absolutely horrible. She just ruins everything for me.

To Kill a Walking "Bird"

What would be your tools of choice to kill a Walker(s)?
My first choice would be a high end AK variant, w/ several hi cap mags, and a sling, because they are nearly impossible to break or jam, the round would be devastating to a noggin, and the range of 3-400 yds would be a good all round choice. I would also carry a good hi cap 9mm (love the .50AE Desert Eagle, but it is overkill, too noisy, and messy ,along with the massive recoil hampering extra shots on target ,if needed). I would also carry a kukri (ghurka machete) which is curved to provide for better impact, a large Arky toothpick, and if foraging for food, the heavy hoe handle I use in the timber as a walking stick, except I would put a spike in the end for pike duty. I would also carry a .22 pistol, Browning Buckmark or Ruger MK I or II, (assuming a simple brain shot would kill them, even though the only activitry shown in the CDC was in the stem) using hollow points ,unless the .22 was not effective enough(shoot for the eyes). I would aslo carry a string of firecracker, and a windproof lighter as a diversion, and if in a party, would like someone with a scoped ruger 10-22 for quiet shots and a very accurate long range bolt or semi .308 rifle. for reaching out to touch someone, as well as a shotgun loaded with "00" buckshot. I would also dress as though I were walking through heavy brambles and thorns , leather boots, fingerless gloves, hat, long sleeves, and maybe some face and neck protection when danger close. Assuming they don't have superhuman strength, if they could not bite through your clothes(leathers?), they could not hurt you as easily. Hassan--CHOP!!

Using their favorite term.."I get it" about shooting Otis, but my God, at least kill him, and not wound him, so he isn't alive when the Walkers get to him.

Where was Daryl, Glenn, and Dale?

Where were they last episode? I know that other chracters have to have their sides told. There was no explination of where they were. There is a zombie apocalypse, there are not many places to go. Was Daryl hunting? What was Dale doing? These little questions could be answered by two lines of dialogue. They aren't even in the background. Seriously, where are they? Does anyone have any theories?

So I have noticed the dead have at least two or three times have picked up or tried to use tools. So how much do you think they can learn? could they be trained ?

In this last episode they found the camp with burned walkers and they commented on the two cop walkers not showing bites. Could it be that burning the bodies infected the camp? Was this what the doctor from the CDC warned Rick about?

Some Characters can't die... Agree?

There are some characters that I don't want to and can't see die, ever, such as Shane, Rick, Daryl, Glenn, Andrea, etc. this is a story about survival, I don't want to see the main characters get killed for that reason, they are like my own family and if I were in this situation, I would do anything to protect them. the writers should take a "Star Trek" approach to killing characters and kill off only the "New crewman" in the story. such as the new kid with the hurt leg. because if Andrea, Shane, Rick or some of my other beloved characters die, I may just stop watching.

Andrea...? yeah, I like her, shes turning into a bad ass chic and I like that.

I do believe that everyone is infected.... its a global event affecting every corner of the world, i think its a paracite in the water due to global warming or deplesion of the ozone layer... everyone drinks water or uses water and it would effect everyone around the world at the same time... so i think everyone is infected, i think when you die and the small part of the brain reactivates it needs dna or something in the blood to continue what functions they have left to work... walkers move kinda slow and lathargic until they smell blood then they go into a frenzy... if they dnt get a blood replenishment they simply shut down (example) the people in there cars dead but clearly not walking around... opinions?

civilization and infrastructure

Depending on how long AMC keeps the show going, they are going to have to get a little more elaborate with the decay of our civilization and infrastructure, not just the decay of zombies. I really hope AMC find room in it’s budget to capture our imaginations when it comes to our group’s surroundings.

Mass populations are gone, so upkeep and maintenance have virtually stopped. After server storms roll through certain areas, there are going to be natural damage (unrelated to the zombie apocalypse), however no one will be around to clean and repair.

Paved roadways will become old and crack as grass tries to reclaim the ground on which they lay. Some will be blocked by downed trees, light poles, signs, etc. Bridges will eventually become weak, making some a hazard to cross, while others will collapse.

Pristine suburban neighborhoods will eventually look like a forest and well kept laws will have grass as high as open African grass planes.

Nature will begin to reclaim what once belonged to it, and I hope the writers of AMC’s The Walking Dead will capture this process in as much detail as possible.

Why Not Go This Way?

Why didn't they find a National Guard Armory ?

Weapons, Armored Vehicles, MRE's......everything they need to survive. National Guard Armories are EVERYWHERE across the state of Georgia. There is no way they wouldn't have what the group needs. Using not a tank, but an Armored Car would be a whole lot safer than a Winnebago. And a 30 or 50 caliber machine gun or 6 or 7 would make a lot more impression on the Zombies that single bullets. Add a couple of grenades......looks like you got a formula for survival of the fittest.....

Color of the Sheriff's Dept. Vehicles. No Sheriff's Dept. uses Georgia State Patrol vehicle colors in Georgia.

What has happened to t-dog?

Calling t-dog! Calling t-dog! Where are you? This "missing person" in the main character lineup is really getting larger with each passing episode? I remember seeing t-dog for a few seconds during one of the past episodes when the group was searching for Sophia. But nothing since? Has he been written off the show?

Whats the best way to mass kill Walkers?

If humanity is going to survive the Zombie Apocalypse they are going to have to destroy the walkers in mass quantity's. Please tell your best idea of how to mass kill zombies and make sure you point out the pros and cons of your idea.

Grab a vehicle with an alarm system. Cover that vehicle with animal blood. Saturate the surrounding area with fuel. Once you set off the car alarm.(obviously you will want to be out of sight.. Rooftop maybe) Wait till the vehicle is totally swarmed with walkers. Then you use a flare to ignite the fuel. This will cause a mass killing of Zombies.
Pros: Fire will destroy the infection, Resources needed are relatively easy to find, No need to come in contact of the infected.
Cons: Would have to happen at night as the sun would evaporate the fuel more quickly, Fuel could mask the smell of blood. Would take alot of time or man power to set up. Fire hazard.

I think it is time to feed Andrea and Shane to the Walkers

Andrea and Shane are dangerous and not all good for the group. They are gonna kill or get someone in the group killed.

They need to move away from the farm!

While I don`t agree with Shane`s actions he and Andrea are right, you just CANT think about a normal life at the farm even less now because of what happened in town.

Think about it soon or later they will need to make another trip to the town for supplies and you can be sure that Randall* s friends will be there waiting to ambush them or follow them to the farm if they dont find their way to it by themselves.

Killing or not killing Randall wont change much the farm is too close to the town and its not safe. BUT at this point they need to etiher trust Randall or make sure he tell them everything he knows about his *friends*

Also being short on ammo, they need to find a solution soon but then again if there are any gun shop close by..guess whos gonna wait for them there? Agagin Randall`s friends.

I hope Shane find a way to forget Lori because the group will need him badly soon or later . Rick is a very good leader but its time for some team work and I hope that others like t-dog, dale, etc... will stand up and say : hey here is what I think because its also about their life and NOT only about Rick, Lori and his family...

Hints At Two Major Developments

Apologies if these have already been pointed out...

First: When Rick was battling the three Walkers who had landed on him, did anyone notice Walker #3 repeatedly batting away Rick's pistol as Rick was trying to line up a head shot? Maybe the producers would explain that behavior as just random arm flailing, or are they trying to sublty hint that the Walkers sill maintain some sense or memory of what things are and how they work? If that Walker somehow "knew" the gun was hazardous to its health, then WOW, that would be a significant advance in Walker abilities.

Second, the two security guards that both Rick and Shane noted had no bites...I hope this is the writers/producers way of showing that our characters don't fully understand the Zombie disease and how it spreads. Of course they all know if a Walker bites you, you eventually die and come back as a Walker. Maybe this is their way of eventually establishing that anyone who dies will come back as a Walker regardless of whether you were bitten or not.

The "scratch" theory does not work for me because the characters have been in so many hand-to-hand battles with Walkers, and just in general contact with Walkers and Walker blood n guts, especially with the characters having open wounds (TDawg on the hiway, Rick and Shane with the knife cuts on their hands in this ep) without having any negative effect .

Waterborne NOT Airborne - Lots of Evidence

Think about it...the disease is in the water. Last night's episode was a huge hint. There are other hints previously. This is what will push them off of the farm. The wells are contaminated.

Outsmarting the Undead

As I have expressed in an earlier post, I love 'The Walking Dead' and I look forward to each and every episode. The suspense of waiting until the following Sunday is a killer in itself!
I have two more story suggestions for TWD: Realizing the need for more supplies but unsure of how to enter the town that is completely overrun with walkers, the adults are gathered at Hershel's dining room table brainstorming ways to enter the town undetected. Carl is just outside the door listening to their dilemma. He steps inside the room and the adults pause. Carl says, "I have an idea..."
He tells them to drive in to town and search for walkie-talkies, then leave one of them AWAY from where they are gathering supplies. As the walkers are lured to the walkie-talkie by the sounds the group can get their items in relative safety.
The adults are amazed at Carl's maturity and his simple yet ingenious advice. They carry out his plan. His idea works, however as they are finishing up gathering supplies three walkers surprise them. Trapped and afraid to use guns as to alert the other walkers, the guys are hunkered down, unsure of their next move.
Looking down at the walkie-talkie, youthful Glen gets an idea and finds a boxed remote-contol car. He tries to quietly remove it from the packaging and install batteries. As he is almost finished, he drops a battery and the sound is heard by the three walkers. The guys try to defend themselves against them as Glen struggles to find the last battery.
Success! He finds it and snaps it in and the car roars to life. He manuevers it to race past the walkers, and as he had hoped, it captures their attention and they follow the racing toy. The guys use that opportunity to grab their supplies and head to the racing car.
I hope you like my ideas! Thanks again for a terrific show!!!

When is a Walker NOT a Walker?

Love, love, LOVE The Walking Dead! I have never looked forward to viewing the next episode of a program like I do yours! I am very curious to know how the show will play out. Unlike other series I have watched, with each new episode of TWD I feel satisfied with the show's content! The show 'Lost' made me feel exactly that - lost in a never-ending soap opera! (But alas, I still watched it until the end...) Besides telling you what a great series you have I would like to submit an idea for The Walking Dead: A family stumbles onto Hershel's property. But they are not just any family - they look like walkers! They have learned to disguise themselves by smearing blood all over their clothing and mimicking the shuffling gait of the walkers, thereby saving their own lives on numerous occasions. As they are nearing Hershel's property they hear gunshots ring out and know that others are nearby. As they cross Hershel's pasture, the others spot them and naturally assume they are walkers and get them lined up in their sights to take them down. Meanwhile, walkers become aware of the family and begin chasing them. Just before the others take a shot, they realize the first group of 'walkers' are not quite as they seem. The adult male and female 'walkers' have picked up two small children and are running with them to escape the true (dead) walkers' wrath. It dawns on the others that the family members are truly alive and they raise their weapons and fire... taking down the zombies. The family stumbles onto Hershel's front porch, exhausted but alive, yet looking frighteningly like walkers. The man and woman explain how they were able to survive so long was by blending in with the dead!

How much time has Daryl Spent in interrogation rooms

Has anyone noticed just how good Daryl is at the good cop/bad cop routine? Makes you wonder how many times the cops used this technique on him. In Season 1 Vatos he does it perfectly using Merle's hand and the sneak peek shows him 'questioning' Randall. Is he becoming the group's official interrogator now?

Hershel's Growing Medical Marijuana

He's either doing this, or he has The Fountain of Youth on his property. Everyone heals on this farm like they have the medical technology of the star ship Enterprise, and Bones McCoy performing surgery (Dammit, Rick!! I'm a simple country vet, not a simple country doctor!!). Carl is up and 'atem in 2 days after taking a 30-06 round to his chest, T-Dog (where is that guy?) shakes of blood poisoning in 2 hours top. Daryl gets shishkabobbed with his arrow and grazed in the head with a bullet, and he's out skinning squirrels the next day. Heck.......even Andrea got a new set of balls there. Now they have Randall. Hershel said he'd be laid up for a week at least, but they drop him off the next day and he's not even hurt. No wonder you don't see Dale and T-Dog much.....they're out in the field smokin' blunts!!

Why couldn't AMC be like HBO? On HBO, you can see the previous espisode a week later. Even Fox showes you the previous episode 8 days later. Come on AMC, get with the program!

Unresolved Character Disappearance

Way back in the beginning of the show, when Rick woke up and began wandering the town, he came across a character played by Lennie James and the characters young son (who knocked Rick out with a shovel). When he left town, Rick was planning to talk via radio with the character, and when the group was leaving Atlanta, they showed Rick attempting to talk to him and tell him where they were going. I have not missed any episodes, but may have somehow missed a short mention of him, but what ever happened to Lennie James' charcacter?????

Why save him just to treat him like crap?

They didn't think it through, so now they have to get rid of him or kill him, but why rough him up so much? He has his feet and hands tied, leg shredded, bag over his head, and they're tossing him like a sack of potatoes. They act like he's prisoner of war, why save him in the first place? We all wanted our zombie fill, and we got it.. I just find it funny with all that fighting, screaming and a gunshot that the 15 zombies only come out when the window is broken. Plus....who built that building? Those windows were off the ground 4 feet at their base. It's like they built a zombie accessible ramp on the inside for them to get out from.

I find it funny that people find being a look out a viable contribution to the survival of the group. Many people on these posts find that acceptable while every one else does their physical work for them. Everyone should get a guard shift. There are 14 people on this farm. Besides that suicidal girl I'd say everyone of those people is fully capable of sitting on top of that RV and watching out. Carl is fully capable of sitting there for a few hours and calling out a warning. There would be plenty of time to muster up the troops. You could have everyone throw in 1:45 minutes to watch and spend another 6:45 doing productive work. You don't want everyone sleeping at the same time. Plus move the guard post to the top of that nice flat farmhouse. Not to sound stereotypical of farm folk, but don't they have 1 of those dinner triangles to call the workers in from the fields for food. Put that up there with some sandbags, a chair, umbrella, food, binoculars and water. If I was in a group and someone thought their job to just watch, they'd watch alright. Watch others eat the food, watch their dirty clothes pile up, and eventually watch the door shut on them when we closed down the zombie shelter all the others helped make.

Fast action, not so much of the soap opera--a little bit still at the farm, but the action was at a level to make the blah-blah-yada-yada tolerable!

I think the writers are reading the forums--lip service was paid to a number of topics discussed in this forum, like gathering supplies and possibly moving north where the walkers might freeze.

Suffering with comic books guys?

Are we going to have to suffer thru another portion of the following show, in order to get our next sneak peak? Many, what a way to try an hold your viewers hostage.

I love Walking Dead, but...

I love the show, but a few things...

1. Merle's comment on Democrats... Please leave your attempt at politics out of this show. You will only offend and lose viewers. (Including me)

2. Why wouldn't they find a defensible location, like an island, prison or boat to sleep, instead of in tents out in the open? Even the box of an 18 wheeler would provide defense against the walkers.

3. If noise attracts the undead why not find/craft silencers?

4. I was wondering why no one had slings and carried their shotguns around like untrained idiots, then mid-way through one show all the shotguns suddenly had slings. (Get ex-military or survivalists engaged for advice on weapons and tactics)

Other than that I love the show and can't wait until the next episode. Character development is coming along nicely.

The Snoozing Dead?

I loved the fast pace and snappy storyline of the first season, the second left me wanting and impatient. I was all but gone, but for slogging through a half season of mind numbing social gymnastics, just to find out what happened to the child who should have been better protected to begin with. Only to find out the entire exercise, and loss of life were a total waste of their and our time. I enjoy the concept and a lot of the show, but if the story line does not get some adrenaline and focus soon, I will find more productive and entertaining ways to spend an hour on Sunday evening.

Filming Mistake !!

Did you ever notice the mistake in the continuity of the story? And what about the characteristics of Zombies in The Walking Dead?
In Season 1 Episode 2 Andrea said clearly that Zombies can smell humans. As it is in the comic, too.
BUT: At the beginning of Season 2 the groups on a highway and as a horde of Zombies passed. They hid themselves under the cars. The Zombies didn't smell them. Just because Sophia leaves her place under the car the Zombies noticed her.

Why couldn't Zombies smell humans anymore?
It's a mistake! The whole story would be different..

Watch out for Lorie

I was never a big fan of the character and even less so lately (I was honestly cheering for the walkers in that car crash lol). I think she's going to cause some major problems ( Andrea's connection to Shane might rope her into it as well, and maybe even Dale). Lori's coming across as the plastic and manipulative type who'll hop on the next donkey when the current one keels over, something tells me that if Dale hadn't told her about his suspicions about what Shane did to Otis and something were to happen to Rick, she'd hop back on Shane in no time flat.

Carol Chamelion

If you look at the lyrics Boy George wrote....that's how Daryl feels about Carol. But if you said that to Daryl he'd punch you in the face and call you a fruit.

Why does everyone think Shane is such a bad guy?

Yes now he is starting to go off the handle but man in case everyone forgot the whole world has gone to trash. He only saved Carl and everyone else and all he gets greeted with is animosity. Lori doesn't even care that Carl is alive because of Shane she just wants rick to kill him. Does anyone else think that maybe Shane is just sick of being treated like a second rate citizen? Also I think the guy they brought back to the farm is just going to be "Martinez" from the graphic novel, and we know how that turns out.

Walking Dead Season 2... Is it just me or....

Is it just me or is season 2 of Walking Dead not really going anywhere yet? I love zombie stuff and watch this series faithfully., but honestly I'm a little disappointed how slowly the plot is moving and how little the zo,mbies actually have to do with it. Aside from that... at the beginning of the first season, Lori happily romps around with Darryl with wild abandon until she discovers Rick is alive, then she treats Darryl like a piece of dirt. When Darryl doesn't immediately accept it and 'get over' her, she now seems to be trying to pit Rick and Darryl against eachother in Season 2? That's not cool. Darryl is no saint, but neither is Rick.. both make their decisions based on their own feelings. Rick kills to protect the group, but then decides to rescue a guy they were just shooting it out with... everyone's morals are skewed now and that's understandable. I think Rick has to stop playing boss and everyone just concentrate on making some sort of a plan. Are they going to stay on that farm until every zombie from town locates it? Where's the plan?

Rick, and others could be immune

I saw an interesting show today...the lag on this site was buggin me, so I watched tv.....anyway....On the science channel, Unearthing Ancient Secrets... there was a doctor who discovered why some people did not contract the Bubonic Plaque (spelling?) in the 1600's AND why some people with hemophelia who were given HIV tainted medication did not get HIV/AIDES. It seems that if you inherit a gene mutation called Delta 32 from Both parents.....you are immune to some really bad diseases such as the plague and aides. So........maybe somehow EVERYONE was exposed to the walker disease, but some people are immune, they will not become walkers when they die. So....maybe that is what Dr. Jenner told Rick....that he is immune, but his wife and son are not. What do you think?

Products of the Living Dead :O !!!!

Is it just me' or are car companies the only companies putting product placement in this show? Why don't the ever find a nice case of Dr. Pepper in an abandoned vehicle, open up a nice can of Dole pineapple chunks for dinner or even see a Coke machine in front of a small town pharmacy. Are these other companies insane. If I were a big time consumer product exec I'd pay big bucks to have Rick wipe of his sweaty brow with an ice cold can of Coor's Light after blowing those guys away in the bar, or Daryl chawing on some of my refreshing Kodiak Wintergreen chewing tobacco after a hard day of skinning squirrels and drying zombie ears. They never have a problem saying "I'm going to drive our 2012 Ford Taurus into town to get generic medicine.". Hell....after every episode you can "win a model of the car Lori ran over the zombie with.".

Zombies Fast or Slow

I hated the fast zombies the first time I saw them. I think it was in 28 Days Later.
I have gotten use to them although I prefer the slower stumbling ones! :)

Neglected Things

1 - Nuclear Power Plants
They can't just be "Shut Down". Decommissioning a Nuclear power plant is a long drawn out process. If the rods are drawn out of the coolant for too long then they "Go Solid". if they are in the coolant for too long then the coolant can over heat and they can melt down. The need constant maintenance and supervision - something they won't have if the operators fled to tend to their families. 2 - Dams
Dams, including Hydroelectric and Irrigation intended dams, require maintenance. If they are simply left open then the lowlands will flood... and flood... and flood.... until it goes to the limits of the floodplains. MANY houses, homes, towns, power plants, bridges, etc.. are located in floodplains that have been dry-cleared by the use of dams. On the other hand, If no one opens a dam to relieve pressure then they will simply burst and you will get the flash-flood effect.

3 - Diseased water table
With the dead and undead everywhere, then with the first rainstorm their illnesses and bacteria infested bodies will be washed... and the runoff will be to streams, rivers, groundwater, and even the water table itself. Remember the episode with the zombie in the well? He wouldn't of just infested that one well, but the entire water-table for a larger area. You can guarantee that the zombie would cause dysentery infection to their wells. just check out the CDC for a list of water related diseases:

Daryl has a relapse.

Daryl has been improving all through the second season. He is one of my favorite characters. Now he has a relapse. It makes sense. He really wanted to find Sophia, and do something positive in this destroyed world. I just hope he recovers soon. The way Shane is carrying on Rick is going to need all the support he can get. Also Daryl is vital to the group. He has the most survival skills, and killing skills out of everyone. Shane has made it clear he dosen't like him one bit because he is a threat to the Shane Train. What does anyone else think?

What's Causing the Infection

It can't be a virus, viruses do not kill people, with the exception of a hystron storm, where the body goes into super allergic response, and tries to flood the virus out, causing a build up of fluids in the body and thus dry land drowning. This is bird flu.

Other than that, virus cause allergic reactions from the body and in the process weaken the immune system. Death usually occurs from secondary bacterial infections, or often in the case of HIV, from cancer, since the immune system now can't eat up all those stray cancer cells that appear daily, in every human being.

More then likely a fungi, as zombie fungi have been known of since the late 1900s and four more species have been discovered in Brazil. They prey on ants, at least the ones we know of. Here's a good link:

People have been mentioning the search for a cure for this zombie "virus/disease". How will they cure zombies? Aren't they already dead, Isn't it too late for them? Wouldn't they be looking for more of a vaccine, something to keep them immune rather than a cure?

Morgan and Dwayne

Rick seems to have given up trying to contact Morgan via the radio. I wonder whether we'll ever see them again. It would be kind of awesome if they got out alive and eventually hooked up with the group.

OK. I Figured It Out Sorta

The virus was released either by accident or on purpose. Al Qeada may have developed a bio weapon, or a military experiment gone wrong, or something on page 2,023 of the Affordable Health Care Act either way it got loose.

People started getting sick and going to hospitals where the number overwhelmed the system. People started to die but they didn't stay dead.

Hundreds of once dead bodies would over run the hospitals and morgues. Ships at sea the crews would have to defend the ship from walkers. Now many ships are adrift filled with walkers. On military bases the troops are all armed and on alert so they have a chance to defend the base but their numbers are severely limited. Individuals arm themselves and flee the cities.

Before the system is completely broken, doctors are looking for a cure and are trying anything they think may help. Not just the CDC but every hospital and University. Many of the healthy are given medicine as a prophylactic against the virus. Walkers are tested to see if they can be cured. Nothing seems to work.

Society finally breaks down and it is a free for all. There are pockets of survivors, government and military trying to survive and regroup.

Jenner tests everyone at the CDC. Maybe what he told Rick was he is the only one not infected. Maybe because of the drugs given him while in a coma. Maybe the dead found on the highway who did not turn into zombies also were give some experimental medicine that did not cure them but prevented the virus from turning them into walkers when they died?

rick vs shane

i think in the next few episodes you are going to see that rick is far more dangerous than shane.... shane fights for what he wants, rick fights for what he has.... so people may disagree but i think when push comes to shove rick will do what must be done... his track record shows he will do what others cant... rick is not to be messed with, push a person hard enough and they will snap... ps you dnt think rick wants to shoot shane in the face for messing with his wife

I find Shane's character a needed evil in the group. He gets things done and done fast. I don't see him having much longevity in the series though, but life will always add a new Shane to your group. I just find it hard that only a few characters know Shane's a jerk. These type of personality traits just don't appear over night. If anyone has read Gigs timeline it's only been about 2 weeks since Rick's met the main group. Plus they scream so much at each other you'd need to be a mile away not to hear the drama. In all reality the people outside camping in the tents would hear Daryl screaming at Carol by his makeshift zombie ear drying station. They would realize real quick the type of person Shane is. I just don't think he's done anything way over the top yet to kick him (or kill him) out. Hell......9 out of 10 people would have crippled Otis if it meant him or them (myself included).

Is there a hint hidden in the Season 1 special edition Blu-Ray set?

Maybe this is old news, but has anyone else read the small print on the “county health department pamphlet” that came with the Season 1 Special Edition (I have the Blu-Ray, but it might be in the DVDs, too)? It says, “A cure or vaccine is not yet known. But medical professionals claim they are able to treat many of the symptoms and are field testing an anti-anxiety drug that may ameliorate the Walker’s violent impulses and attacks.” Is this a hint at something?

Pepper Spray

I was just watching the video of the guy getting pepper-sprayed at Disneyland, and I thought about how effective it would be as a zombie weapon. Just for visual damage. The irritant it causes in breathing would not be useful. The zombies body is dead, and being this body functions such as producing tears would stop. The zombie isn't going to shamble over to an eye wash station. It could possibly blind them for weeks until natural water, such as rain or falling in a river, would help to remove the spray. They did show an attraction to light when Shane and Otis went to the school to get the equipment. I still understand a blind zombie is still a dangerous zombie.

rick in yhe hospital

i have read alot of threads, and the opinion is rick was in the hospital a long time.. i dnt think that is the case... when shane was in the room checking on his status, thats when i think all hell broke loose. its then when shane walks out of the room that you see the walkers for the first time, i think rick was in that room for no more than a few days... when he escaped and morgan found him his wound was still somewhat fresh ... does anyone have an opinion

Dawn of the Dale !!!

Could Dale be entering "the sunset of his life" quicker than he realizes? I personally like Dale and would be his friend. I'm sure he'd make a great father and grandfather. I could even see myself growing into a Dale in the future. His motor home was the central hub of the survivors existence until they reached the farm. If they need to flee it will probably be again. He's shown he has mechanical skills and can fight if needed. He can tell a good fireside story. But is he starting to much friction and gaining to many enemies? He takes Andrea's weapon from her when it is her's given to her by her father (surprised she doesn't know how to use it). Than he takes all the weapons and runs into the swamp. He keeps telling people that he thinks Shane shot Otis. He told Shane he saw him point his rifle at Rick in the woods. He says Shane is achieving what he wants with both Rick and Hershel gone (Shane does jump to the head of the dinner table).Maybe he needs to realize that he can be an asset to have around, but he needs to keep his yap shut so others don't take him out. Otis is long dead and you can't change any thing about that so just let it go.

Did Shane really think Rick was dead in the hospital?

It’s been mentioned several times that Shane left Rick in the hospital because he thought he was dead, and if I recall right, that in a flashback scene Shane does try to listen for a heartbeat. However, when Shane leaves Rick's hospital room, he pushes a bed in the hallway up against the door. I've been wondering why he did that.

If Rick was dead like he claimed, then there wouldn't really be a point to try and barricade the door unless he thought Rick was gonna come back as a zombie, however, he would block the door if he thought Rick was still alive at that point. In this case, it would mean that Shane has been lying since the beginning which, considering everything he’s been doing, is quite possible.

I can't take this anymore - I have to say it

Someone needs to take the directors and actors out to a firing range someday with actual versions of the weapons TWD characters use so they can see what REALLY happens. Rick practically had the muzzle of his Python against Walker Sophia's forehead when he pulled the trigger and all she did was basically lay down (at the wrong angle between camera shots, BTW). Contrast that to the vapor that used to be the one guy's head in the bar scene. And Rick maintains perfect control with no recoil using only one of his scrawny arms to hold that hand cannon.

Burned bodies?

The previews show the second pile of burned bodies at the fenced in walker infesed area. The first was found by Andra and Shane in the suburbs in a garage. Both locations were in walker infested areas so why bother? Were they zombies or is something more sinister going on?

Car Wrecks and Early Pregnancy

Car wrecks and early pregnancy don't together very well. I wouldn't be surprised in the next couple of episodes Lori is no longer pregnant. The reality of second pregnancy fact was overlooked by male writers. Lori would be showing very soon, second and third pregnancies aren't hidden like the first.

Maybe he is with the new group. He'll find out it's them when they let Randall go. What would Daryl do then?

Rick is Immune to the Virus!

This is what I think Jenner Whispered to Rick.

Now here me out:

1. The Time frame from when all hell broke loose and when Rick woke up seems to be longer than a person could survice without food or water. Which is about 3 days. Entire cities are over run, huge military operations and outposts were over run. Had to be more than 3 days.

2. Shane came to check on Rick. There was no pulse. This was his BEST FRIEND and he was a trained police officer. I think he could tell if a person was alive or not. I dont think Rick was.

3. Jenner took Blood samples from everybody and he was seriously in the mix with trying to find a cure for the problem. He'd know what he was looking at. He didnt freak out, because obviously Rick was fine. He still killed himself because even though he may have found a lead to the cure, his facility was no longer able to produce it.

4. Rick doesnt tell anybody. Why would he... Nobody would trust him

So, I think rick got the desease and eventually "died." His body was able to fight it off and he came back cured. He doesnt know what to do with the information right now so he's keeping it to himself.

Event TV

What I really love about this show is that every single episode is an event. Though there were some slow episodes earlier in this season, something was always happening to either move the storyline further or set up drama for the future. The two episodes so far after the hiatus have been fantastic, full of action and suspense, and next weeks preview would indicate this trend will continue. Some have complained that there is not enough action, but they fail to realize that without the dramatic buildup, there would be no stories to get invested in, and no reason to care about the characters as they struggle in a zombie world. I for one would become bored if it was just a group of one dimensional characters being chased each week, which is why I was glad to see a human vs human element in the bar, and hope they continue to bring the melodrama along with action. Like True Blood & Dexter, the ongoing story is what keeps me tuning in each week.

THE FARM IS NOT NEVER NEVER LAND

Lights on, curtains open, shooting practice, people walking around alone, like they are at a picnic all day, no fortifications, no real look-outs, no real recon of the area, ......not saying they should leave, but they need to GET REAL...they were nearly overrun by the dozen walkers from the barn with almost everyone shooting, what will happen with people strolling all over the farm property, which is extensive, mostly unarmed and in their own heads about personal problems when the sh** really hits the fan?
NO ONE, not even Shane is really taking it seriously. Why didn't they empty the pharmacy and every other store in town when they arrived? Why are they still sleeping in tents? They could go get more motor homes, or make the barn habitable.
What is with Daryl? How safe is he alone, on the outskirts of the property? Stupid move, I don't care how upset he is about Sophia, I think he knows more about survival than that move showed.
Rick and Hershel bringing home a wounded puppy? It could turn out to be a rabid dog. Yes, I felt bad for the kid, I have kids his age, but for the sake of the tv show, WHAT KIND OF DECISION WAS THAT?

Thoughts and sympathies for Shane...from a Shane hater! Add yours!

Disclaimer: I continue to be a solid member of Team Rick!

Shane's story is a tragic one as it is, and will continue to pan out to be fatal IMO. I've strongly disliked Shane since the Lori attack scene at the CDC.

Excluding the Otis incident, I've developed a steadily growing sympathy for him and have a few thoughts I'd like to share supporting this 'tragedy':

1.) ABOUT LEADERSHIP: Despite his lack of a macro-focus, several misguided steps and faulty presentation [that even Andrea concedes]; Shane led a fairly large group safely up to the point where they camped at the quarry. We do not know how long this happened and may be a story of great struggle against the odds. You can't take that away from him.

He willingly shared that leadership with Rick when Rick arrived (despite feelings for Lori, described below) and then let it slip out of his hands, partly in my opinion because of his belief in, and love of a long time friend and partner. Good intentions there!

As Rick began to make decisions contrary to what Shane believed, there came a creeping regret, doubt and jealousy for conceding his power and clout!

2.) ABOUT LORI: I'm aware there are two possible stories for the beginning of the Shane/Lori relationship, one more innocent and one more intentional and sinister (and I know there is strong evidence of the latter)!

I'll focus here though on the innocent aspects.

Maybe Shane always had feelings for Lori and suppressed them for Rick's sake? In the Hospital scene; at first glance it seems like Shane didn't do enough to get Rick out of there, but really, was he supposed to carry him out past Military personnel who were spooked and flustered and shooting everyone? Nah! Given that, it's believable that Shane was convinced of no hope for Rick, so telling Lori he died has an honest ring to it.

After Shane, Lori and Carl escaped and up to the point where the two had sex, you would think they had bonded quite a bit. In Shane’s mind, I would excuse him for thinking this was his/their destiny...with a secondary feeling [that I don't agree with] of he would be a better provider.

He would have settled on that, falling in love with Lori...until Rick shows up to blow Shane's world to shreds! If all of the above went down like that, how could you not 'snap' a little bit?

In this latest episode, where Shane is trying to convince Lori that what was between them is real, He appeals to Lori in a desperate, loving way. I found it to be touching. It might be easy to miss if you're a Shane-hater like me, but it somehow came through to me!

His appeal to her showed the original pure intention and it made me wonder if through all of the superficial relationships, high school escapades and one-night stands, that Shane finally found his true love in Lori!?!

Where the tragedy unfolds is how fate, Lori’s deceptions and jealousy have all mixed into a deadly cocktail...

Shane has become a monster because of it!

If Shane dies anytime in the future, I will morn him! It will be the final chapter of a tragic, rambling, misunderstood book that didn't have to be written or end that way.

Barn Walkers - Has NO ONE thought of this???

Sorry if someone has already brought this up, but... keeping the Walkers in the barn actually has a very real, practical purpose.
The Walkers are dead, they are rotting. They are decomposing - and while their rate of decomp has been vastly slowed, it has not been stopped. Eventually, all of the Walkers in the world are going to rot enough that they will not be physically capable of being mobile. Wouldn't it be a good idea to figure out at least approximately how long that is going to take? All you have to do is find out how long you need to outlast them. If they are reduced to crawling along on the ground, you no longer need to outrun them, and can even pick them off at your leisure.
I know why Shane didn't think of this - he seems incapable of thinking more than 1 or 2 steps in front of his nose - but Rick, who can think 10 or more steps ahead, and Dale, who can think even further and seems clearer eyed to me than anyone else - should have thought of it.
Anyone else have this idea, or is it just me?

Randall

This is the guy who fell off the pharmacy roof and got the fence post through his leg. In a real life situation (not pre-written for T.V.) I could see this guy becoming a member of the survivor group. First off....his "buddies" that he started with show absolutely no loyalty to one another. Randall's just left there on the fence, like a shish-kabob on a paper plate when every one at the picnic has had enough to eat. I'm sure his life before the farm surviving the zombies had no structure with "an every man for himself attitude" that included robbery and murder. I'm sure if the "Fat Man", Tony, didn't get any "cooz" quickly Randall would start to look good because he looks so baby soft. To me Randall would be like a mistreated beaten dog that if finally shown love would become a fierce loyal companion willing to lay down his own life in defense of his "new master". I wouldn't have any fear of him going to find his old group and bringing them back to the farm. I would expect him to go find them and shoot the guy who left him for dead. Rick's group risk their lives to save this kid, even after Randall shoots at them, and I'm sure he'd understand that. Plus he does show that he's not afraid to enter a combat situation if needed.

This show is OK... only 10-15mins is actually good, the rest is weird/stupid drama...
Rick - Half the time he is annoying thinking that he can save everyone, what is he a superhero....
Lori- she is messed up. she should've gotten bitten so the show would've been more interesting.
Andrea - is getting better, starting to have a stronger character. She could become a good main character.
Dale - good character, but to much I wanna be your daddy role. cut it down..
Shane - good character, but a little to much on the whole Carl and Lori thing... cut it down.
Glen - he was cool, until the g/f episodes. He needs to step it up or needs to be replaced.
Daryl - is the best character, normal human behavior... feels like the real deal in the show, what happened to his older brother?

Most of the girls have a stupid roll having to create drama in a predictable settings.
The rest of the group should eventually get bitten or die.. Need new characters that will make the show interesting... I think....

The show is about people trying to survive in a world full of zombie/walking dead people and they are others trying to survive too. Main characters needs to change...

Symptoms of Shock

I don't remember rapid heart rate and fever as symptoms of shock. The staring and rigidness can be associated with shock, but the heart rate and fever are more like the walker desease. Why hasn't anyone from Rick's group suspected this? Hershel should know the symptoms of shock, and the walker sickness, but I assume that he is in denial as ususal. However, he sure can handle a gun!

IMPLOSION: Lori's Love Triangle For Her Unborn Child

Is it me or is this Lori character playing out her Love Triangle during the Zombie Apocalypse?

Is Carl's fascination with Shane's attitude bigger than his love for his dad Rick? Is Lori really treating herself to personal notion of being chased by one man and staying loyal to her husband?

All in all, Lori is the one who is going to change the face of the main leaders in this camp and cause the focus of staying alive on the planet to staying alive for her child.

I can't trust her one bit because she feels a certain responsibility to keep everyone together when in fact her selfish and devious two-faced mannerisms are making the confident characters break down and choose to reflect on their own independence.

I really miss dodging zombies and the pursuit of other Survivors than having to deal with Lori's problems in her relationships although it is a nice twist throughout it all. Pitting Rick and Shane against each other seems like a leadup to a lame MMA non-PPV match on AMC.

In my opinion, it'd be nice to see Lori get bit and give birth to a part-Zombie baby and develop the cure.

Rick needs to kick Shane's @$$. Shane is starting to get annoying with this whole Lori thing. He should just move on to Andrea, claim her and be done with it.

Compare and contrast

I kinda find it amusing that this character is even still alive. In the comic series shane has been dead the day before they left atlanta. I mean this is a crucial learning experience for Rick not only when it happens, but after the fact too. I wonder also why they didn't put Tyrese,since he's Rick's right hand man. Season 2 of Walking Dead has been nothing more than a zombie soap opera. I was a big fan of it for the first season and had high hopes but it's turned out to be nothing more than a undead telenovella. The execs at AMC lost breaking bad, mad men, & they certainly screwed this one up too. Rather than burning zombies this season, that's what you should be doing to all of the executives at AMC

Dead Set

We can all agree we're all zombaholics. Maybe wanted to turn some of you guys onto a series the IFC (Independent Film Channel) ran against "The Walking Dead" last year called "Dead Set". The premise is what would happen if a zombie outbreak happened during the filming of the reality show "Big Brother". It takes place in England. It has a great story line, great characters, great zombie make-up and enough zombies and people getting killed to make George Romero happy. Check it out and you won't be disappointed.

Not everyone can be a warrior

It seems every young man wants to be the tommy gun tottin, cigar chompin, grenade throwin sarge, leading the squad thru a hail of lead, to save the day. The simple truth is you ain't him. For every sarge, there are 10 to 20 guys, filling out order forms, peeling suds, an cleaning heads. Ever notice on many combat video games, there are 10 guys waiting to crash a plane, and no medics or engineers?
The point is, there are many jobs that need to be done in a group survival situation and odds are,,you're not going to get the top kick slot. If you find yourself on the paint detail, don't be a grumbler and a malcontent. Do your job well, you move up, be another problem to deal with, and you will find yourself on mail buoy watch. The guy in the office, seeing supply orders are filled, is doing as much to win the war, as old sarge is.

Am I only one one left who still likes Shane??

I wrote this else where but I'm really wondering how others view Shane? Am I seeing him thru blinders because I actually LOVE this character!! I'm beginning to think that I'm the only Shane fan still out there. I truly love the depth of his character and Jon Bernthal is amazing at capturing Shane's various characteristics . I think people are much to quick to judge his moral compass. When the truth is he is living in a kill or be killed kind of world. The true corossion of these characters is what I love so much about this series. These people all started out with very richous intentions and have over time been stripped down by all the various events. I think Shane's outbursts come a place of good intentions but are handled in the wrong way. When you have 2 characters (Rick and Shane) who are by nature leaders. Taking that sence of placement amongst the group away will cause a backlash by nature. I think Shane has showed a lot of compassion during key scenes in the series. Like when he puts the gurney in front of ricks door. I think he did this believing that this might protect his friend. And when he wipes the blood from Ricks face after Carl is shot. Shane is not heartless and I truly think his love for not only Rick but for Lori and Carl, is what made him become so mad about the barn. In his eyes there is only black and white. And in order to survive you shoot first. I think yes he went about it wrong but in the end because he did so herssal came to realize the truth about walkers. And they found Sophia. I think without Shane's character the group would lack that tension that is often needed to keep you on your toes to be a survivor!

Scavenger, Trespasser, Adventurer, Loner, Killer, Explorer, Robber.
Although this stalker concept is from a game it applies to any post-apocalyptic environment. the stalker idea needs to be reinforced in the series the walking dead, season 2 was more about the characters feelings towards each other, there needs to be more survival, adventure and a lot more zombies. The walking dead needs to be more mission like, they pretty much at the moment have no objective, the living conditions need to be shown more such as scavenging for food and ammo. it would also be nice to see zombie infected dogs and other animals like rats, this will prove to be more of a challenge for survival.

Could this mean a return to fuedelism?

We all AGREE the S.H.T.F. (S**t Hit The Fan). How bad has society collapsed after , and if, humanity can survive the pandemic? Could this mean a return to the Middle-Ages of 500 A.D to 1400 A.D.? How well have communications survived? Will money be worthless, and if so the jobs such as cashiers, bankers and stock brokers just as useless? Will local communities have enough, food, fuel, water, weapons and medicine to repel a siege of the undead for years, or will they become roving gangs that take by force? Trucking and the cross global delivery of goods will come to a complete halt, and 9 out of 10 Americans rely on the shipping industry even for their morning coffee. Will local heads of governments, such as mayors, religious leaders and high ranking military officers set up strongholds, and offer the local population protection in return for work, such as farming, the crafting of goods and the construction of living and defensive positions? Will local law enforcement and military personal become the soldiers of said strong holds? Will trade start with other local set up strong holds, or will they engage in conflict to take what the others possess? Livestock would have to procured for basics such as meat, eggs and milk, and protected. Crops would need to be grown. A secured, non-poluted waterway would be a necessity. Every day groups would have to be sent out on a door to door basis to check for supplies and to route out any remaining zombies.

Shane is worse than a walker

Shane really scares me, because you never know what his next move will be. Talk about a loose cannon. I think he would fit right in with the bunch outside the bar and dead on the floor. He might be a good shot, good in a fight, until he hamstrings you because your woman looks good to him. In the societal breakdown, the wolf sheds his sheepskin, and the sheepdog attacks the wolf, while the sheep remain....sheepish. I would put him down like a mad dog,. Who with a piece of brain would open the barn door and let the walkers all out because he was mad? could you noy have more easliy shot them from the outside as easily. And no matter how you slice it , even though Herschel was wrong to store the walkers, it was his place, his walkers, and because he offers you hospitality, give no right to play Godzilla with his reality, if you don't like it GO AWAY! I doubt Carl is even safe from Shane, especially if he sticks up for his Dad.

Walker or Living Man?

Did Lori hit a walker with the car or a living man. I think it was a living man because he cried out when hit. Also, Shane and Andrea (in the preview of episode 209 are talking about a man that is being cared for at the farm. They are angry that he will be set free with a supply bag and that his people might show up to claim him or start a war with them. This might be the man injured in the crash.

Ever since Daryl has given up on everyone, and Dale can no longer seem to be himself, the show's "voice of reason" is no where to be seen. Although Lori is currently gone from the group, she is the only one who seems to be a neutral, good person. Although Rick was defending himself at the end of Epi. 8, killing those two men, was a little out of hand. Where is the hope?

Lack of preparedness?

Love the show but I have an observation to make; Dont these guys look like they are just out on a long weekend camping? The lack of proper gear & equiptment screams at me every time I watch an episode. Has anyone ever tucked a weapon in your waistband & tried to do any sort of manual labor (moving dead walkers in the show) or draw from the waistband vs. a holster? Why no holsters, tac vests, shirts with sleeves, body armor, better vehicles, non blot action weapons (they serve a purpose but not here), short wave radios, or any sort of a defensive perimeter? I understand the human aspect of the show but feel that these guys are in the opening week of outbreak preparedness, not several months in.

After spending the first half of season 2 begging and crying Rick has finally found his balls. The only question is did he find them in time to counter Shane? As a member of the Army, I take some offense at the fact that the show seems to have writen off our armed forces as inept. I'm sorry but out armor units would have little problem in wiping out the zombies and thus ending the spread of the plague. Everytime they show any military, they are dead or over-run. Why, explain?? Also, why did no one in the group gather up weapons and ammo from the dead soldiers?? Also leaving HMMWV's and not taking them. Where is the Navy...and don't tell me that all of our fleets were in port on leave, thus infected. Sorry for the rant. Love the show except for tree hugg'n Dale...KILL HIM OFF!!

AMC's Walking Dead,missed opportunity?

Many thoughts on the subject, mainly, it is that while AMC is known for drama, this show could be one of the few that satisfies on many levels. I don't care for drama, it exists in every facet of life , and on a daily basis. We are all drowned in a sea of personal interaction and effect. And while such intense navel-gazing is thrilling for some, I enjoy movies as a form of escapism, and a way to experience that which is not the norm. As such, I have no interest in viewing endless arguments and incarnations regarding the nature of man(and woman!) in normal, or extraordinary situations. I do desire adventure, action, and the simple musings of survivng when doing so is questionable, sans cloying drama.

My background, along with a very heallthy love of sci-fi, action, and ADVENTURE tales, causes me to have a ton of opinions on this show and subject, and after reading comments for a few months, I am about to bust.
I am a hunter,shooter veteran,outdoorsman,gardener,Christian, Father,technician,writer,ect,ect.. I am an amalgam of all of the characters.

As such, I should love the show, I did when I finally gave it a chance in the middle of season 1. My guilty pleasure is Zombie/space/apocalypse stories.(except there are so few good ones) and I could not believe just how good this show was. Until season 2, seriously guys, can you really say the changes so many don;t like were NOT financially related?? Mr Darabont had it right, why did it change? I am sure no funding was diverted to make "Helen Wheels"! Keep the drama for those who enjoy such, and don't give us such a great premise only to "mainstream" it with petty quabbling, and cheap sets and staff. You guys found lightning in a bottle, and then changed the formula. I would never watch Mad Men, and saw half of a Wheels episode. I am not saying I want blood and gore throughout, I am not into the violence, just the strategy, and the struggle.

!. Never leave the children, on site and surrounded at all times, they die, we die.
2. How can Zombies run,(or use tools) assuming the joints decay wioth the flesh, ever had arthritis?

3 Why are no fortifications made at the farm or to vehicles, why no protective clothing?
4.Assuming Zombies can't reason, or solve problems, survivng them would entail only preparation and vigilance.
5.Why is scrounging not a constant mission, for automatic weapons, body armor, assuming electrical nerve activity, what would stun guns do to them in close quarters.
Not trying to pick it apart, but come on folks, do you even have imaginations? Or must we rehash the rehashed in every story.

Finally, consider Star Trek, great premise, but Roddenberry was so focused on preaching about the ills of society, he forgot to be interesting. And consider Firefly, the interpersonal dynamic was sometimes left undramatized for an adventure, how refreshing.
Sorry for the rant, but I'm sure Glenn Mazzarra got the gist of widespread dissastisfaction for Dave Navarro.

Shane is acting crazier and crazier. It is only a matter of time before he faces a horde of walkers, and not have anyone to sacrifice, or someone will shoot him. Moving and Touching Walkers

Why in this very unsanitary world and a world when we don't know how it started is the group touching Walkers with their bare hands? I vote for gloves and masks when touching a Walker. If not gloves are available then a sheet, towel, or some kind of towel will do. Touching the Walker bare handed is disgusting. I could never feel clean enough again. I'd rather pick up dog crap bare handed, that's if there were any dogs left.

After watching Nebraska it occurred to me that the action is far more intense with live enemies than the zombies.

Some Walkers are Smarter then Others

If you notice some walkers can even use basic tools: such as using a brick to break through the windows of the store. So what causes the big difference? Is it the length of time they're "out" before they awake? Or is it the difference between which ones have fed and how often? Could some also be intelligent enough to understand what's happening to them? Maybe that's why some hesitate before attacking, maybe hoping to be put down and released?

Nebraska finally it 'feels' real

I was glad to see a bit of 'reality' surface in the episode Nebraska. I'm an old hand at going through hurricanes, and when the crap hits the fan people change. It's good to see those different 'Disaster Response' personalities being clearly reflected in the characters.

Concerning the midseason premiere, if it wasn't for it's unique theme I would give up on this show. While it has its moments, the acting for the most part is sub par and the dramatic realism is HORRIBLE. The writers never ask the obvious questions and the characters make decisions that are out of sync with the natural reaction anyone of us would have in these situations. For example when Hershel's daughter fell ill, why didn't anyone ask if she got bit? And why in the world did Lori drive into town to get Hershel and Rick? Isn't that what Rick was supposed to be doing? That made NO sense and I nearly changed the channel. C'mon guys there are better ways to write in a car crash. I've struggle with this poor writing from the beginning. If only HBO could have picked this up. They knows hows do it right! Anyone else struggle with this show?

Back Stories

While i love the show, the biggest part of a zombie show/movie for me is the actual demise of humanity. I want to see how the outbreak started and to see how it speads. Show me the collapse of cities. I know that in this show its too far in to the story for that but at least show some of the characters back stories to see how they survived in the beginning.

Why go after Hirschel "for the baby?"

So Hershcel tells them they have to go. So what? He is not able to make them leave. They really don't have to leave at all. So who cares if the delusional guy comes back from town or not? Sorry, but for me Shane is the most rational one there? Oh, and why bury anyone? These are walkers. They should all be burned, for safety's sake if nothing else. And Lori should be proud of her son for saying he wld have shot those walkers himself. The world he is growing up in makes it necessary for him to know how and when to protect himself. This show has gone all touchy feely fr no reason. Oh, yeah, they want to keep their humanity. Yes, but first is safety. Going to town to rescue a man who was harboring walkers and delusional about them, who wants to throw them all off his land is stupid. Why is anyone upset about thinking Shane killed Otis? They recognize it was because he was trapped and would not have gotten out of there at all with the medicine to save the child if he had not done that.

She really NEEDS to GO!! Have her live until she gives birth. Then let Rick and Shane "co-parent". Carl and the babe,will have at least 1 female in their lives. Vehicles and when was the last time they gassed up?

So other than the 2010 Hyundai Tucson all the rest of the vehicles are clunkers. I mean I don't think the dead would mind if you borrow their car so maybe trade the old pickup in for a newer Ford F150. I also wonder why they havent started zombieproofing a vehicle. I would think that an armored car or bus with some welded steel are in order being you don't want the dead to get ya. Another point to bring up is when and where did they get gas last? Lets take bets on who's the first to run out of gas at the most inopportune moment.

The Bar Scene was Pivotal!

The bar scene was a pivotal one in this series for several reasons!

1. Rick gains some much needed self confidence about himself and as a leader. He starts to move away from blaming himself for Sophia’s “death” and transformation into a walker. He is learning to ditch the self moralizing behavior and do what needs to be done to survive… coldly and efficiently. In many ways, Rick’s behavior is beginning to mimic Shane. So far, Rick has not descended into the pure hatred and anger of Shane… but time will tell?

2. Hershel begins to understand, that the world as he knew it is gone forever and it is likely there is no “cure” for the undead. He also is becoming grateful for Rick’s help at the farm and especially during the encounter with the two human scavengers at the town bar.

3. The bar scene also illustrated the need for Rick’s group to exercise more caution, especially when in urban areas like towns and cities. Former population centers are high risk areas for encountering both walkers and human threats! Did viewers note that while Rick was talking to Hershel in the town bar, nobody was bothering to guard either the doors or windows? “Trouble” walked right into the bar via the front door in the form of those two human scavengers? Also, did viewers catch the “play on words” when the leader of the two scavengers stated they were from Philadelphia… the “city of brotherly love?” Not a lot of “love” shown by the two scavengers!

Is Beth Greene Infected?

She is attacked by her stepmother Anette who was lying on the ground after the barn massacre. But it wasn't clear why Beth had gotten Ill right after that with a fever. I wonder if she was bit, scratched or if there is another way to contract the virus now through close contact??

The Women on The Show are Really Lame

ok so, i have been a fan of the AMC adaptation of the Walking Dead - but holy crap, can the producers possibly BE more sexist? in the comic books, every woman is a strongly defined character with specific various weaknesses but also badass strengths, things that shape each one and make them awesome. in the show, the women are helpless nags that are always stuck behind helplessly "waiting for their men", cooking, or doing laundry, while the men are all out doing their zombie slaying and cool stuff. in last nights episode, i almost had my hopes up when lori got in the car to go "find her man" that she would come across some defining adventure and access her inner badass, but WOMP WOMP she crashed her car because women are stupid and helpless AND ALSO BAD DRIVERS! that's liberating innovative thinking right there! None of this was even a plotline in the comic books, so this is AMC writers and producers coming up with all of this stereotypical genius! there is no way i'm the only one who has noticed it at this point.

Most people hate him but like rick's son said "he did the right thing" if it wasn't for shane they all would of died a long timeago, i understand their family members but they were already dead hen they became walkers.

Season 2 Midseason Premiere - Best Scene!

Rick talking with Hershel in the town bar and than the fatal encounter with the two thieves! Another, not too subtle reminder to Rick's group that in a post apocalyptic world filled with zombies... many times the worst danger comes from humans, not undead!

Enough with the soap opera already!

Getting tired of sitting through episode after episode waiting for the action to pick back up while we're treated to yet another Lifetime Movie Special style show. Just kill some freakin zombies already. The closest we came to seeing a walker get killed was the one that wasn't quite dead at the barn and possibly the one Lori hit. We need a lot less talk and a little more action. Everything that made season one great is getting lost in overly complicated plot lines. Please don't ruin the best show on TV! As much as I hate Shane's character, I'd love to see him take a couple folks and just start hunting walkers, then at least we'd have a zombie show again...

What I'm wondering is what are they planning on doing with the character Daryl? I can see the Daryl situation going a few ways. One he can leave the group and go his own way. He can stay with the group and start being a loner again and the worst possible sceniro is they can kill him off which I hope they don't do. He is my fave. character. And another sceniro is they can keep him in the group to help Carol cope with her daughters death

my question is did shane get bit in episode 3 of the second season... i know the infection takes longer to infect from one person to the next... maybe some have an immunity to the infection, but in episode 3 didnt shane have a bit mark on his head from when he climbed out the school window and the walker grabbed him. does anyone have an opinion?

HOW LONG WILL A ZOMBIE LIVE WITH NO FLESH TO EAT,DOES IT JUST RUN ITSELF INTO THE GROUND?

Why don't they run into or introduce some halfway intelligent characters?

You know, someone like Dale who isn't an outlaw hick bent on taking what others have. Yes, it is a zombie eat zombie world out there and good people do turn bad, but there are some who would survive and continue to survive with their honor intact. I hope they introduce some characters that aren't so rough and tumble, maybe a scientist or a professor who is also adept with firearms.

Comic Book Men?

I can't believe your putting a comic book reality show behind a great show like Walking Dead. Don't you people know anything? You need to follow Walking Dead with another scary show if you want to keep your audience.

Marathon review observations and questions

So I've been watching hours of the show and I've got some observations and questions.

1) Exactly who has been doing the mass killings such as at the hospital, the CD and the Highway blockade. These people were not killed by Walkers nor were they walkers themselves.

2) At the CDC everyone is given a blood test, the results of which were "Nothing unexpected was found". "Unexpected" what exactly was he expecting to find? Was that what he whispered to Rick prior to the big bang?

3) If it's the end of the world and you are running from the Walking Dead why would you spend it following an old man in a Winnebago? Isn't the apocalypse enough without that?

My theory: The blood test, they are all carriers and Rick knows 'cause Doc told him so. This would make them all targets for mass killing as we have seen, helicopters are for real.

I am just curious about when Glenn discovered the Walkers in the barn, why did he not see Sophia in there? There seemed to be about fifteen people come out before she did, even if she was a timid child, her Zombiefication would have made her way more feral and she would have been walking around with the rest of them and not hiding off in a corner? What did the doctor whisper in Rick's ear he did do blood work it stands to reason he saw it, am I right since he states he knows she is pregnant.

I'd like to clear this up for those who didn't understand this.

Everyone who knows me knows my obsession with TWD, thus I get asked questions constantly. "Why did this happen?", "Who said this?", "Why did ____ do this?". My most frequently asked question is "Why does Shane shave off all of his hair?" I'm not sure if someone has answered this already, but I'd like to go ahead and clear this up in case anyone doesn't understand. I've heard many answers myself, but if the fact of the matter is that Shane shaves his head because after he shot Otis, he tries to take the equipment from him. Otis grabs a hold of Shane's hair and rips a patch out. This bald spot could be used as evidence against him, therefore he solves the problem by shaving all of his hair off. It can also be said, and this is based on one's opinion, that it is suppose to signify Shane's changing mental state. I hope this helps.

Q about Rick's hospital stay

How long was Rick actually unconscious in the hospital? I mean from the time he was shot til the time he woke up? and then... how long was it before he found his wife and son? Was that maybe 3 days later?

I wish Laurie would just tell Rick she doesn't Love him anymore

In the begining before the zombie outbreak, Laurie wanted a divorce from Rick clearly she is only with Rick for guilt. The times when her and Shane were together they had so much fun together it almost seemed like a camping trip, her Carl and Shane were always usually together, talking like a family whilst she cut Carl's hair, and they mostly agreed on decisions made, they seem to clearly get along very well. I think Laurie should stop playing around and just tell Rick, so Rick can not have so much stress in his life, is she doesn't tell the truth sooner or later it's going to hurt a lot of people. Her and Shane were always chatting behind Rick's back, does anyone else see the love between Shane and Laurie? I think they should be a couple and Rick should fall in love with Andrea what do you all think?

Who else cried when they saw Sophia walk out of the barn?

If you are as in love with this show am I am you probably cried too. When she walked out I first thought of Carol & Carl. Her mother lost her only daughter after being abused by Ed her whole marrage. Carl lost his only friend his age and if you remember, he was very assuring and confident they'd find her. It must have been heartbraking seeing her. When I watch this show I feel like I'm there as if I was in the cast & its awful to imagine what she went through. Can you agree? HAHA (: So what were you thinking if you did cry?

Continuity Mistake In 207

It's right towards the end when T - Dog is about to give his reaction apon seeing Rick helping out with bringing those two zombies back to the barn. I noticed that T - Dog had his arm up by his head and then in the following shot it's down by his side.

I have not read the comics nor do I have any inside information but something just struck me a few weeks ago...something that has never been done before in a zombie movie...
1) who cares if Jenner knew that Lori was pregnant or that it was Shane's baby..boring!!
2) maybe Carl is immune...and could be the key to survival...interesting thought but don't think so
3) Lori's unborn baby has immunity...could be interesting but Jenner couldn't have drawn blood from the baby.....

so here is my theory....never done before...how come no one else has thought of this?

4) NO ONE IS IMMUNE!! EVERYONE WILL TURN INTO A "WALKER' WHEN HE/SHE DIES REGARDLESS IF BITTEN....IT'S ALL ABOUT LIVING LIFE TO ITS FULLEST WHEN ALIVE AND WELL...THERE IS SOME SORT OF VIRAL CONTAGION WITHOUT A CURE...THINK ABOUT IT...WE HAVE SEEN NO ONE DIE YET UNLESS BITTEN...this changes everything....what if everyone has already been exposed to whatever "it" is and when you die, you become a walker. But if bitten, it just happens much quicker.
