Talk: The Walking Dead: December 2011

Having fun with time line. Robet Kirkman? wrote one ep. on tv and the book, rise of the Governor. SORRY, time lines don't match at all. If you have read the book, you'll understand. I just wish Mr. Kirkman would have gotten the time line right. In the

therefore book has got to be after the time group left Atlanta. therefor again, did the governor come into grat power and control of a town in just days?????? time line don't work mr. kirkman....

Requesting a Webisode/Minisode

Is it at all possible to request a Webisode/Minisode to be made? I figure if enough people request something, the producers will make it.

Personally, I would LOVE to see a webisode explaining what happened at the CDC. Specifically, show what happened with Dr. Jenner and his wife (Test Subject 19). Like how she was bit, how the whole place was during the chaos. Stuff like that. Anyone else interested in this?

How could Lori Cheat on Rick like that..... and with Shane...:(

I can't believe that She would do something like. Just because her and Rick didn't see everything eye to eye on certain things... I would never do that Rick is very hot wit his big blue eyes and sexy voice that would make any woman want him.... Damn Lori what were you thinking, oh wait you weren't. If I was lori and he came back into my life I would not wait until everyone was asleep cause there is a lot of catching up to do.... Hint hint.... if she can do shane durring the day time in the forest , she can do Rick the same damn way...

3-Disc Special Edition DVD - First Season

Huge TWD fan. Just bought the newer Special Edition DVD for $40.00, and already in the 2nd episode the entire portion where they all cut up a dead walker for Glenn & Rick to smear on them to walk on street among the dead is completely cut out. What would be the reason for this?

TWD S2 named one of the 10 Biggest Failures Of 2011

My sentiments exactly

I guess we can be glad it was only #10...

http://pjmedia.com/lifestyle/2011/12/28/the-10-biggest-failures-of-2011/

"10. The Walking Dead: Season 2: The first season of The Walking Dead was the best thing to happen to sci-fi fans since Buffy the Vampire Slayer went off the air. People loved the series so much that the second season premiere set a ratings record. Unfortunately, it was all downhill from there. A group of disparate people desperately trying to escape hordes of zombies is exciting. A group of disparate people hashing out their feelings about each other on a relatively safe farm while they venture out to put down the occasional stray zombie they run across is not. At this point, the show is like a relationship that’s going bad. It starts out magnificently, but then you slowly realize it’s not as much fun as it used to be, but you’re still hoping against hope that things will turn around before you have to break it off. If the Walking Dead keeps this up, a lot of its fans are going to have a 'It’s not you, baby, it’s me' conversation with the show."

The need to feed

Why would something dead need to consume living flesh? What does it do for them? Keep them from deteriorating? Create more zombies? Do they get full?
And - do mosquitoes spread zombieism? Or does the bug know it's dead flesh?

awesome makeup effects best zombies ive ever seen

the special effects on the zombies makeup are the best ive ever seen the makeup artist are freakin awesome i liked the zombie hanging from the tree that was totally awesome cant wait til the show the new episodes

Marathon!

The promoters of this show are marketing geniuses. I heard the buzz and started watching the 1st season on Netflix and was disappointed to know that I would have to join in on the 2nd season halfway through...but then...every episode, in order, ripe for the DVR picking! Thank you AMC, you have a new fan!

CDC episode

Are there any plans to reveal what the doctor at the CDC whispered to Rick?

Walking Dead comics

I am wanting to read the comic books and have a question..The library had some of both of the following. The big hard back books and the big paperbacks. Where does the series actually start? Hard backs that say Book 2,3 etc or the paperback that say volumes 1-infinity?

Why is it that the zombies aren't that viscious we need more zombies more problems???

Why is it that we dont have more problems and zombies it needs too be scarey???

A few things I don't understand

My first question is why are people sleeping in Tents? There must be millions of Motorhomes in this country for the taking, at the very least you get a large SUV which would provide a lot more protection from walkers then a tent.

Secondly, as for gas, why not just find a portable generator, attach it to any gas station, and you now have electricity to pump up the thousands of gallons of gas in the ground.

And Lastly, the Walkers clearly need to eat, which means like any other creature in time with no food they will die out. If I"m a survivor I"m finding a fairly rural area, building up a wall they can't get over and staying there until such a time. I know it would add to the drama much but it would mean me and my family got to live, verse say jumping from one place to another into how knows what danger.

Nurding OUT

Ok I got the compendium one for Christmas and spent most of the afternoon and well into the wee morning hours reading it. Now I have a few things to say on the comic vs TV comments that have been made here.
Shane….. In the comic Shane is more like our hero Rick and Rick is more like Shane in attitude. What got Shane killed was not only his obsession with Lori but his naive attitude that the world would be back to normal and the government would swoop in and save them any minute. Which is a lot like Ricks attitude in the TV show. Shane thought the group should stay close to the major city for rescue and Rick argued it was not safe they were too close to the hordes of undead where they were and it was not safe. Rick and Shane fought over the safety issue the camp was attacked peopled died and that escalated the rest of that story leading to Shane’s demise at the hands of Carl. Conclusion…. Rick took charge of the group making Shane feel left out, Rick reclaimed his wife and child making Shane Jealous, Rick did not have hope that things would get better his attitude was more grounded in the fact that this was a &hit Storm and they needed a safer place in the country rather than staying next to the city. Rick blamed Shane for the deaths of the other survivors when the attack came because he refused to leave the camp. The Lori affair was a piece of the puzzle but not the whole package.

In the Comic Lori is aware Rick is alive they left him because the hospital assured them they would protect him they needed to get to a safer area. She does sleep with Shane but she is aware Rick is alive… Still a move of desperation on her part but a completely different story. Conclusion Comic Affair and TV grieving stressed widow seeking comfort not an affair.
I have seen a lot of debate about them living in the RV and tents at Hershel’s farm someone here stated that the farm house in the comic was more secure and that the people did not live in the RV but lived in the house. This is a false statement.
The farmhouse in the comic has a fence kind of like the old junkyard fence around the main property the house it’s self has no boarded windows in the comic. Also the farm can be seen from the road in the comic. They arrive in the winter not the summer and the farm is safe from attack because our walker buddies are all frozen and kind of in hibernation most of them.
I’ve seen argument that the group lived in the house at the farm but this is not true. Rick and Lori stayed in the room with Carl but the rest of the group lived in the RV outside. They never lived in the barn they started cleaning the barn to live in it but I don’t want to spoil anything from here if they stick to the main story line.
My kids gave me this book for Christmas and said here mom now you can go nerd out on AMC.
There you have it

Otis

Okay how did he get all of those zombies in the barn by himself?

TWD Online viewing?

If you want to make money from this show after it has aired, wouldn't streaming it from your own web site with commercials to pay for it be the best way to ensure people who missed an episode do not stop watching? I missed e202 to now because life happens. I am nopt paying, and not going out of order....So do you want to lose those of us who could not help but miss out, or is it no longer about the viewers, but all about squeezing the sponge dry now?

Hope next season won't get worse than this

After so much action and suspense on the first season, the creators of TWD lost the main idea and forgot why we, the fans, loved the first season so much. Honestly, every episode I watched from this second season, I was hoping it would get better but it just got worse until the "end".

Add more people to the show.

Just looking at the number of people with Guns in America, there must be more people holding out from the walkers. With the numbers of people that must get killed off by walkers due something stupid, we will need more people. I can see a this base camp getting stable and safe for time before it’s over taken or the group needs to move on for better place due to Bad water or radio calls for help.
What direction do you think the story should go in?

bad ass carol

Now that carol has lost two people that she love when she finally change into a bad ass # 2 andrea, instead just the cook and laundry lady? She did it once before when her husband had to be destroyed.

Otis

Okay so how did he get all of those zombies into the barn by himself?

Don't turn it into a soap opera

I've seen too many shows that start off good then get caught up in "character development" and end up with plots like too many soap operas on tv. I think they part of the attraction to the show is about what you would do to survive a zombie attack. They should have the group run into a couple of other groups that use tactics or scenarios that fans could suggest on how they would survive a zombie attack.

How are you surviving until TWD returns in Feb 2012 ?

Sunday evenings have become a bit boring since TWD ceased until next year ... so where do I get my "zombie fix" from until next year ? At the moment i'm watching TWD season 1 along with Dead Set again as well as rereading World War Z by Max Brooks ... whats everyone else doing ???

Observations and thoughts.

I registered, oh... I think it was right after the second episode of Season 2 - and I joined the Forum primarily to ask questions because I'd missed all of Season 1. I've since bought and watched all of the first season (twice), so I kinda feel like I know as much as anyone does - comic readers excepted.
I find it odd that I've even developed interest (understatement) with a "story "- if that's the appropriate term - that is so morbid. I've avoided horror shows most of my life. Put simply,, because they scare me.

I've just turned 65 years old, I'm a college graduate, 6 years military (US Cavalry) during the Vietnam era. I've extensive outdoor experience. I grew up in a rural area during a time that boys were allowed to have firearms - and the freedom to go and to use them. I've also been a bowhunter for many years, and have killed a variety of animals (and a lot of them) with archery equipment. I've been both a competition shooter and a recreational user of firearms - along with having to kill men (and a few women) during my time in SE Asia.
I share this bit of personal history not to try to impress anyone, but as kind of a preface to the thoughts that will follow. Please don't misunderstand, I don't pretend to be an expert in weaponry, but I know a hellava lot more about rifles and shotguns and pistols and ammunition and crossbows and recurve bows and longbows and arrows and what they will all do to a living (or walking dead) body than most everyone that will offer an opinion here. I can shoot lots of holes (no pun intended) in armaments used in this wonderful series.

All of that said and out of the way:
I've no medical background, and I expect few other authors / posters to this Forum do either.

People, this is a story. Some stories could have actually happened and some can not. This story could not have happened. Dead is dead forever. Only God can resurrect the dead. So all the speculation and what ifs are completely moot. Deterioration of the walkers' bodies as time passes... Well I hope you get my point. Too much thinking can can ruin anything.

The acting is superb and the characters they portray are unique. The only comment I'd make there is that I'm a southern boy and they ain't quite got the accents down yet. The story is unlike any other story I've read or watched. Sometimes things drag a little - other times a scene will bring me off the couch.

All this rambling to suggest that we just have fun watching and stop second guessing and over analyzing it all. And enjoy it and count down the days till the next episodes begin.

Thanks for indulging me.
Ronnie

Shane/Stephen Macht (Look-a-Like) could be Father/Son Team

Stephen Macht http://www.imdb.com/media/rm1056543232/nm0532685 looks just like Shane Walsh http://www.amctv.com/shows/the-walking-dead/cast/shane-walsh and they have like Characters I could see Shane thinking before the Zombie outbreak about his dad, and Stephen totally could be his dad, his character is similar on the Graveyard Shift movie 1990 directed by Stephen King.

Winner of the stagger on role

does anyone know when and where we can fing this information?

Help!

I haven't seen episode 6 and 7!!! D: i wanna watch them but i cant find them anywhere!

Michonne - yes or no?

okay (spoiler-ish? Maybe?) There is a rumor going around online that by the end of season 2 or the beginning of season 3, one of the characters from the comic was going to make her way into the series. Michonne.

One site just stated "A reliable source close to the show" and other came out and said the info came from someone saying he was playing one of Michonne's two zombie pets... but the story was True blood star Rutina Wesley was set to play the role.

Today there was a release that this was untrue and she is no playing the role of Michonne (nor is she playing another role in a movie she was rumored to be part of.)

so what does that mean? Is Michonne going to appear in the series and the actress is unknown, or is Michonne appearing still a rumor all together?

Why no M-16's?

The AR-15/M-16 series carbines have been around for decades. Police and Military everywhere have them. Many civilians have them, and ammo is abundant. Its the perfect weapon for zombies, yet Rick's party is armed with hunting rifles and short range shotguns. At least Shane could see the advantage of a high capacity, fast firing rifle. They should be laying around everywhere.

Just showing appreciation

I am in the Navy on a temporary assignment in Yokosuka, Japan. I would like to say that it was a nice thing that Sarah Callies did by taking time out of her day to visit the base and some of the ships. Thanks for the visit!!!

Democrats

Since Daryl Dixon saw his drug dealing criminal brother telling him all his friends were a bunch of weak Democrats that makes all the idiots Republicans? that was the message and that is why I wont watch the show any longert and will post my feelings on Facebook as well as other social media. It's sad the liberals cant even leave their drivil out of a monster movie....sad goodbye walkers good by amc.

For those of you that read the comics...

For those of you that read the comic series, what are your thought on those storylines compared to what we're seeing in the TV series?

Personally, I hope they continue to borrow some of the good bits from the comics but also to develop a lot of original material. The events in the comics such as the extremely lengthy prison occupation, the whole Governor story arc, etc are things I hope do not make it into the TV series.

I only read the comics after I got interested in the franchise by watching the TV series. Frankly, I was just looking for hints on what the show may have in store for the future. If the comics are any indication, I hope the TV writers stray very VERY far in another direction. I stopped really enjoying the story after they introduced the Governor. I only kept reading because I had all 90 issues and I figured I would stick with it to see where the story went.

The TV series and the comics are like apples and oranges. The basic concept is the same, the pilot and first few episodes mimic the early events in the comic, but that's pretty much where the similarities end. I really like the way the TV series is developing much more than the way the comics did.

Characters like Dale, Carl, and Rick just get twisted into all these weird directions in the comics. I got to "know" these characters by watching the way they are portrayed on the show. I really hate what the comic does to all of them as it goes on. I can't help feeling that the comics are just a venue for random gore and unrealistic ultra-violence (i.e. the many rape and torture scenes, the unrealistic and cartoony/Kill Bill ripoff sword chopping that has been in the last 70 issues or so, etc.)

If they want this show to thrive and continue to appeal to the masses, they should borrow some of the interesting plot points (maybe an episode or two in the prison, the journey to Washington DC, Donald's community and its ups and downs) while avoiding the weak/uninteresting ones (All that Governor nonsense, killing off the original group members in utterly underwhelming random violence, the rampant loss of limbs by the main characters, etc.) I think their original story arcs such as the CDC encounter and their depiction of the Greene farm were much more satisfying than the comic storyline.

What do you guys think?

Your Weapon Of Choice

What would your weapon of choice be if you lived to see a 'Walker-Apocalypse' ?

Possibility of More Survivors

After the occurrence of a Zombie Apocalypse, there will be more than a few groups of survivors.

Yes of course there will be an enormous amount of casualties but some will still survive.

It wouldn't make sense for there to be only 2 groups standing against an immense population of the dead.
If Hershel and his crew could stay alive on their isolated farm, I'm more than sure that there has to be others that have survived either at a shelter or farmhouse. For sure there's life in the military base seeing they have enough food to hold off and protection as well as shelter that no zombie or human could break through.

So what does everybody else think, will there be more survivors? Will the 'Grimes and Friends' crew come across a sheltered military base with great life to offer?

We need a hurricaine

With no radio or tv we need a major storm to hit savannah and show some survivors there being caught off guard. That would make for a great episode. A good tornado at the farm would be exciting. Doubt if tornados affect walkers, unless they get sucked up into one, but it wouldn't kill em. Just a thought.

Question / Idea about tracking

Why not "tag" the zombies? Some left over eco/animal
group (or government) can, with GPS, study the seemingly random movements of the zombies. One of the episodes had a "herd" of them. Why would they group together when there is no upper level of thought? Primal or Magnetics? Plus this would give the humanistic side more hope of normality. Any thoughts?

MY Promo for Season 2 episode 7

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOsuj494BDQ

Tell me what you think, hopefully you like it! :)

"Quote Me.."

how about starting a thread with possible quotes, or lines to be worked into the script for the characters?? my entry is:
"best thing about walkers (zombies)...? they have no religious hang ups about their diet..."

post yours, it's worth a try maybe they will use one. =o)

Who was hiding in the farmhouse Daryl found?

He found a hidy hole and a freshly opened can. It looked like someone had been hiding out in the house recently nad only one person. Was this a fluke to keep our hopes up for Sophia or will it come back up again?

What about natural decay?

I have wondered why they don't get covered in maggots and then all the decaying flesh eaten from the bones. Millions of flies would start to propagate and destroy the walkers. Ever see a deer on the side of the road? It doesn't look like a deer for more than a couple days. Especially in the heat, they would disolve into stinky goo. Winter should freeze them solid also. When thawed they would be even more prone to falling apart after the cell walls have been ruptured by the ice crystals. When they're in groups say against a wall or fence why not set them on fire and cook them crispy? Or electricity from a generator? Many questions still. But I try not to ruin the show for myself by over thinking it

Character Origins

I would like to see where all the characters came from, from there perspective. Like where were they when everything happened, what happened to there families and what lead them to the group. Maybe in the from of webisodes. Sort of like a character orgins, side story. What do you guys think?

Sophia's demise

I may be really late with this comment but I am a little tired of reading that Rick was the only one WILLING to put a bullet in Sophia's head. The fact is, Rick felt responsible for what happened to Sophia and he had to be the one to put her out of her misery. Anyone else agree with me?

Site Issues

Daryl Dixon - One Of The Top TV Characters Of The Year

Hey hey hey wouldja look at this:

"'Glee' Star Cheers Up Our Top 50 TV Characters Of 2011
'Walking Dead' and 'Game of Thrones' standouts also among MTV News' favorite TV characters of the year."

http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1675578/best-tv-c...

"13. Daryl Dixon, "The Walking Dead"
Zombies really do deserve to die. They're terrible. This is pretty much fact. So the world needs someone to kill them. And that someone, thankfully, is the one-and-only Daryl Dixon, played by the incredible Norman Reedus. There are few men in this world who manage to look so good while killing the living dead, and he is one of those men. He may actually be the top guy. So thank you, Daryl Dixon, for doing us all a favor and helping us live a little longer. -Jocelyn Vena"

Love it, and it's so true!

season 2 blows

The 'higher ups' at AMC should have their heads examined. Why in gods name would you change the formula for this show? Season one was awesome (for the most part). Season 2 completely sucks, I can't even bear to watch it. I have to onDemand it so I can fast forward through the slow and crappy writing. Also, what happened to the production quality? I get the feeling some greedy exec is trying to find out a way to put out a product with out having to pay to produce it. Get your s#it together guys.

Casting Calls for Season 3

If anybody has any information on Casting Calls for the next season I would really appreciate it. I have been looking everywhere on the internet without any success. Any information would be great!
Thanks!

Missed S2 E1 - Did Jenner's secret get revealed?

I saw some speculation in other blogs, but can anybody tell me if the CDC doctor's secret told to Rick was revealed in Season 2, Episode 1 (I missed that episode)? Thanks! I suspect that he told him that everybody is dead, there is no cure or safehaven, which is why Rick is so intent on staying put on the farm. There is no where left to go!

Wardrobe / Costume questions

My daughter wants to dress up like Sophia (zombie) for next year's zombie walk. Does anyone recognize her blue t-shirt with the dripping rainbow ? I'd love to find one or something similar.

"Daryl"/Norman Reedus Tweets

Perplexing question about killing zombies

So back in season 1 episode 6, the doctor explains the biological effects of turning into a zombie. He describes how when one dies with the virus, they re-animate after a certain time, but only the base of the brain is reanimated, such as the cerebral cortex and the part that controls basic human instincts, while the rest of the brain remains dead (according to how I understood it). So, theoretically, wouldn't the only possible way to "kill" the zombie is to destroy the cerebral cortex, since the rest of the brain remains dead? I asked this question earlier and someone explained to me how if a zombie get shots in the head, the bullet trail leaves a small vacuum that sucks up surround brain matter, and sending a shock wave that would practically destroy the entire brain, including the cerebral cortex. That made sense, but when Darryl kills zombies with his crossbow, there is no bullet vacuum, and I would assume the shock wave effects will be greatly lower, so shouldn't the zombies just get back up? If normal humans can survive stab wounds to the head and brain, shouldn't zombies, who only use a small part of the brain?

Darryl

Just wanted to post that I was watching Pandorum and saw what i thought was darryl from the show. I paused, rewinded, paused and was like aww shucks it is darryl. Just to let u know, he's in Pandorum.

This Is The BBC here...

Imagine everyone's surprise when out on a provisions search one of the (Walking Dead) group picks up a Shortwave Radio and turns it on and hears, "This is the BBC - Day 348 of the Travelers". The announcer goes on to describe how 268 BBC co-workers & family & friends are trapped inside the BBC Studios & are running short of supplies - they still have power because the Nuclear power plants in the area are still working but they are getting desperate for food & medicine & help (they have been living off an air-raid shelter's supplies in the basement.) Now they have no choice & must go outside & start their own provision searches in order to survive...

The announcer goes on and gives out a phone number for the station (yes, the phones are working also). Now the original Walking Dead group must figure out a way to try & contact them. Someone in the group comes up with the idea of a Satellite Phone - but where to find one - this starts a NEW provisions search.

If this TV station were to pick up on this idea they could start a NEW version say, "The Walking Dead - London." that ties in WITH say, "The Walking Dead - USA".

AMC / Fox

I think that is a lack of respect for all the fnas the fact that in FOX channel, they only do advertisement for another show, and not the same for The walking Dead, wich is the best showever, and over it, they repeat the 1st chapter from season 2 cutting some scenes, they should advise during the week, at least

Do You Like To Write? And About The Walking Dead? Read This

Don't think it's for fanfic, sorry, BUT:

Hey y'all, anyone who has serious writing skills, listen up. I've hooked up with, via Twitter, this chick that does some fantastic blogs on TWD, here's a couple for you to sample:

http://www.talkingwalkingdead.com/2011/12/roots-of...

http://www.talkingwalkingdead.com/2011/11/sometime...

Anyway, they're looking for writers. I may do some myself but I told her I'd put the word out with the Regs. Let me know if you're interested and I can get you contact information.

And just so you know, think that first one, Reedus saw it and tweeted it back out, so they do read these things.

Family Portrait

who is in the group - ie:

Shane's Shooting style

Unlike any of the other characters, Shane uses a Close Quarter Battle shooting style similar to a modified Weaver stance used in house-clearing. He wouldn't have learned that on the police force where current technique calls for an isoceles stance to take advantage of bullet proof vest protection. Sometimes SWAT teams use that stance, but I doubt a small town police force had a SWAT team. The writers should build that into Shane's backstory - maybe he's the way he is because he was Spec Ops military so he's more hard-core than most. BTW, Shane's stance and grip are spot-on but he has a tendency to tilt his head - a real shooter would either keep his head straight or tilt the gun in line with his head tilt (the former being preferrable). Tilting the gun or your head changes your sight picture, which is certainly not terrible at close quarters, but an instructor (like Shane is supposed to be) would have trained that tendency out of his technique.

Easily Fixed Incongruities

1. Cast should wear masks/goggles. Has it occurred to anyone else that while they're shooting and hacking zombies and getting splattered with zombie blood that the zombie blood can get into their orificices (mouth, eyes, etc) thereby infecting them???

2. What happened to swords & spears? For millenia, humans used these weapons to kill (relatively silently) and to keep the enemy at a distance. Everyone on the show is clamoring for a gun, but unless they find more ammo soon it'd seem that they're going to run out of bullets before they run out of zombies. Besides, the noise of guns attracts zombies so why on earth would you use them instead of swords & spears - two easily found and/or manufactured weapon types??

Serious question about Zombies and how they kill.

Zombies swarm over their victims with dozens of sets of teeth clamping on their victims and ripping apart the victim's body with their hands.

If i'm not mistaken Zombies most notably go for the brains.

Problem i'm stressing over is if these swarms of Zombies engulf most victims with mass numbers and all take a poke at the brain, shouldn't we see this corpses not get up and turn into a zombie since it's brain should be more damaged then if struck with a bullet in the head?

If zombies eat brains, there should only be a fraction of victims returning from the infection.

Any-who, don't know if this pertains to Walking Dead's zombies. Who knows maybe they just want 1 bite each off each victim.

On another note, if 20-30 zombies all took a bite outta one victim, wouldn't we see more damage since the transformation isn't instant?

Sophia`s death

Are they gonna show us how Sophia died?? How do u think she got turned and how she got in the barn???

I was wondering

I live in an area where bears occasionally wander onto my property. I have several watch dogs who act as early warning system. Why don't they use dogs to warn them of walkers?

Does Daryl sterilize his arrows?

I've seen him shoot a deer, then a walker, then a squirrel which he ate raw, then he got shot with his own crossbow falling down a hill. Where in the middle of all this did he stop to clean his arrows?

Where's the Medical accuracy?

This show is awesome but I constantly find myself thinking: "How are these people not being infected?!?!". The doctor at the CDC was in a biological safety level 4, yet Daryl and Rick can apprently disect a zombie in the forest and not be contaminated in any way. Many of the scenarios are just not realistic. I understand the show is based on a graphic novel and that it is mainly about these people and the drama/action they experience.... but it wouldn't hurt for the writers to realize that the viewer base is at least semi- intelligent.

Okay...

So how did Otis get all those zombies into the barn by himself?

Layers

Honesty. This show is really something special. I have to say, I have never explored or experienced any show or movie as in depth as I have so far in this show. When I first was introduced to the show I was actually pretty drunk and my good friend showed me the fish fry scene when the camp is attacked and Amy dies. Now, I do not respond to shows typically during events like this because they are typically cheesy, obvious and boring. The combination of the money I had spent on beer that night as well as the money I spent on my great TV turned this into something I could not help but experience. The shift from safety to utter desolation happens so quickly, so honestly that I couldn't help but watch in terror. First impressions lead to lasting relationships and this show and I are married. I want to share the greatest thing that has dawned on me since watching this. I watch all of the different emotions blending and mixing in all of these people as they cope with their new worlds and the death of their old selves and the acceptance of their new emerging images. I see their strength and their amazing resilience and then I look at our world. Look at a possible world with all this death and sadness and then imagine our world which HAS A CHOICE and the choices we make. We don't have to survive like that and still there is murder. We don't have to run from zombies, but shanes are still shooting people like otis in the leg to save their own skin. Look at all they go through, things we could go through and yet we still kill each other every day. There is so much to this show, you just have to look underneath the layers.

Good show but...

The liberties being taken with the original story are becoming detrimental. The writers are killing characters for the development of characters who arent even around at this point of the story (aka otis, sophie, and shane). I understand that its an adaptation. Most people havent and will never read the comics, thus never knowing the difference. But as someone who has i must say while i eagerly await each new episode, I am getting frustrated. There is enough human drama in the comics to keep folks who desire more than hack and slash zombie madness, beyond satisfied. It is not a book for kids. I dont understand why its necessary to drag out a story that has developed and matured beyond 100 issues and counting. One could read what has transpired on the TV series in 1st 10 23pg (avg) issues. Give me a break! its not often it takes longer to watchthe movie over reading the book. I was very excited when i learned of the comic coming to TV. but i feel like im having a carrot dangled in front of my face while i could have a trail of them to lead me along. Perhaps if i never read any one the comics (ive read up to #50) i would have a different opinion. However im fully aware of the material the “writers” have to work with and IMO they are dropping the ball, big time. Why mess with a good thing to the extent they have? Again i do enjoy the show, and small changes keep things fresh. Just move it along already! quit dragging your feet, please! i worry at this rate people may lose interest before the story starts getting good. And its all good, but if you think what has happened thus far is somthing, wait to see what kind of crazy 5h1t is in the future (i hope).

what about merle?

It is clear that the story of merle isn't over. After all he did to survive it is clear he intends to exact revenge on them for what they did to him and he will make sure he survives. I thought that note rick left on the car for his friend the guy who saved him after he woke up from the coma, the black guy and his son, I think merle found that note and he tracked them to the CDC but lost the track when he found that it was destroyed. Question is will he return in season two or season 3? Also what about that guy and his son? The black guy? he can't be dead, can he?

Season 2 Midseason Finale - Open Thread

Talk about Episode 7, "Pretty Much Dead Already."

Love and Hate!

I both love and hate this show!

The action, the drama the... everything. I don't know where to start. I thought season 2 was boring untill episode 17 with Sophia, that made up for everything, that was just horribly brilliant. I've been waiting for every new episode just to see what they will have to go through next.
I know people have been ranting on all the slow going drama, but it's justified. You can't go through what they have gone through with about being a little crazy.. But will you please stop teasing us, no show i've ever watched have teased me as much as this one have.

Great show!

Glenn and Maggie: Who wants their relationship to survive?

Personally, I think Glenn and Maggie make a good couple. They support each other very well. Since Glenn has meet Maggie he has become stronger, and since Glenn Maggie can accept the new reality of the world. Also they both deserve some happiness in a world full of death, destruction, and uncertainty. I am hoping that since Sophia’s fate was so terrible it means that Glenn and Maggie’s fate will be happier. If you agree or disagree feel free to discuss.
PS It is also nice that someone else other than Shane is getting some. Shane is literally the most active guy in the show. First it was Lori, and now Andrea.

The Walking Dead returns in February

Why is it going to take so long to come back on? I understand that it is the holiday season, but why not January instead of February? I guess it will be a good birthday present for me.

walking dead

its so awesome

rick is infected with zombie virus

I think at the end of season 1 the doctor whispered into rick's ear telling him he's infected with the zombie virus but is immune somehow... he's like will smith in i am legend.
