USA Today Profiles Norman Reedus; Jon Bernthal Visits Conan

This week, Norman Reedus gets praised in a USA Today feature, Jon Bernthal talks on-screen sex with Conan and Newsday highlights The Walking Dead's return, giving it an A-.

In a USA Today profile of Norman Reedus, Robert Kirkman says, "I feel absolutely blessed he has honored our show with his presence."

Jon Bernthal appears on Conan and talks about simulating sex on basic cable. Bernthal also speaks with Men's Fitness about boxing to stay in shape and says The Walking Dead is the "most physically demanding job" he's ever had. (No Link.)

The Walking Dead Two-Day Marathon Starts Sat., Feb. 11

The Walking Dead returns with all-new episodes on Sun., Feb. 12 at 9/8c. Which may leave the uninitiated panicking about how they can possibly catch up in time. Worry not! On Sat., Feb. 11 at 8/7c, AMC begins a two-day The Walking Dead marathon on-air covering the full series to date. First comes all six episodes of Season 1 back-to-back on Saturday starting at 8/7c. Then on Sunday, the marathon continues with Season 2 episodes starting at 1:30PM/12:30c, leading right into the Midseason Premiere, "Nebraska" at 9/8c.

Talking to Collider.com about the rest of Season 2, Robert Kirkman warns zombies are still a danger, but "nothing compares to the danger that humans hold for each other."

Zap2it takes a look at AMCtv.com's The Making of The Walking Dead Walkers multimedia magazine and admires the "often blunt detail with which [Greg] Nicotero discusses his creations."

EW Highlights The Walking Dead's Return; Elle Calls the Show Binge-Worthy

This week, Entertainment Weekly looks ahead the rest of Season 2 in its midseason preview and Elle compiles a list of shows, including The Walking Dead, that are worth a viewing marathon.

Robert Kirkman and Glen Mazzara talk to MTV about The Walking Dead's diverse fan base: "One group is all about the zombie action...The other group is more interested in the interpersonal and emotional dramas."

The Walking Dead Grabs Three Golden Reel Nominations

On Fri., Jan. 20 the Motion Picture Sound Editors announced their nominees for the 2012 Golden Reel Awards, and The Walking Dead was honored with three nods for Best Sound Editing: Long Form Dialogue and ADR in Television, Best Sound Editing: Short Form Dialogue and ADR in Television and Best Sound Editing: Long Form Sound Effects and Foley in Television. In addition, The Walking Dead's Executive Producer, Gale Anne Hurd, was named the recipient of the 2012 MPSE Filmmaker Award.

The Walking Dead's nominations are among four garnered by AMC this year, with Breaking Bad taking home a nomination in the Best Sound Editing: Short Form Sound Effects and Foley in Television category and Hell on Wheels receiving a nod for Best Sound Editing: Short Form Dialogue and ADR in Television.

Competing with AMC's lineup this year are such shows as HBO's Game of Thrones, Showtime's Homeland, Fox's Terra Nova and Fringe and the CW's Smallville.

The awards will be presented during a ceremony Sun., Feb. 19 at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles.

Kirkman Teases Season 2 With TV Guide; Midseason Finale One of Futon Critic's Favorites

This week, TV Guide discusses the upcoming second half of Season 2 with Robert Kirkman, while the Season 2 Midseason Finale, "Pretty Much Dead Already," was one of last year's best, according to the Futon Critic.

Robert Kirkman talks to TV Guide and teases a new threat for the survivors that "causes the group to encounter something very dangerous that will be an exciting element in the new half of the season."

The Futon Critic's list of last year's best episodes includes The Walking Dead's Midseason Finale at No. 26, calling the final scene "as haunting of an image as any in 2011."

• At the show's Television Critics Association panel last week, Entertainment Weekly learned that Rick vs. Shane will be at "the heart of the show" moving forward. IGN, TV Fanatic and Bloody Disgusting reported from the panel too.

The Walking Dead Receives CAS Award Nomination

Today the Cinema Audio Society announced their nominees for the 48th Annual CAS Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Mixing for 2011, and The Walking Dead was honored with a nod in the Television Series category.

The Walking Dead production mixer Bartek Swiatek along with re-recording mixers Gary D. Rogers and Daniel J. Hiland received the nomination for their work on the Season 2 Premiere, "What Lies Ahead." Together, they'll face the sound teams from HBO's Game of Thrones and Boardwalk Empire, Showtime's Dexter and AMC's own Breaking Bad for the award.

The awards will be presented during a dinner Sat., Feb., 18th at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles.

The Walking Dead Editor Hunter Via Nabs ACE Eddie Nomination

The American Cinema Editors society today announced their nominees for the 62nd Annual ACE Eddie awards honoring excellence in film and television editing, and The Walking Dead editor Hunter Via has been honored with a nod in the Best Edited One-Hour Series for Commercial Television category.

Via -- who won the award last year for his work on The Walking Dead's Pilot and was this year nominated for his work on Season 2 Episode 7, "Save the Last One" -- will face stiff competition for the award: Friday Night Lights's Angela M. Catanzaro; The Good Wife's Hibah Frisina; and Kelley Dixon and Skip MacDonald from AMC's own Breaking Bad are also nominated.

The awards will be presented during a ceremony on Feb. 18 at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles.

AMC Announces 16 Episode Order for The Walking Dead Season 3

AMC announced today from the Television Critics Association (TCA) Press Tour in Pasadena, CA that the third season of The Walking Dead will consist of 16 episodes. Previous season orders were for 13 episodes. AMC's international broadcast partner FOX International Channels (FIC) will follow the 16 episode order and structure a similar schedule worldwide. Season 2 of the critically acclaimed global hit series continues to deliver the strongest telecasts for any drama in basic cable history against Adults 18-49, as well as, top international pay-TV ratings on Fox International Channels' (FIC) major markets. The Walking Dead is based on the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman and published by Image Comics. Glen Mazzara serves as the series' showrunner and executive producer. Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, David Alpert and Frank Darabont are executive producers with Greg Nicotero as co-executive producer.

The Walking Dead has received rave reviews from countless critics, both domestic and international, who heralded the series as "above all else, The Walking Dead hasn't lost the most important ingredient in its strangely successful recipe: it's thrilling" (The Hollywood Reporter), "...with Dead's riveting cast of characters, the personal dynamics are almost as potent as the gory thrills" (Us Weekly), "The Walking Dead is a feast.
