New Science Fiction Book on the market

Hey all, has anyone checked out the new Science Fiction book out from first time published author Lisa J. Comstock? It's titled The BrimTier Chronicles, Part 1, Life of a BrimTier Pirate and is awesome.

It is set in the 23rd century about a Robin Hood style space pirate and his crews' adventures trying to help the less fortunate and keep from getting caught by the so-called "good guys"
In this story Earth has become over-populated- not too terribly far-fetched- and the people are forced to move out into the stars. Space is split into 3 tiers- The Inner Tier- the First BrimTier and the Second BrimTier- The people of the third tier are not getting the supplies they need and are dying- Which is were Iain Bryce- Captain of the starship Phoenix and his crew come in.
It is action packed, the characters jump off the pages and keeps you flipping the pages until it is done- leaving you ready for # 2 which should be out early next year.
This is the first in a series, of what looks to be ten total volumes.
For more information or to order an autographed copy yourself check out the author's website- http://www.brimtierchronicles.com/

I just saw the new Indiana Jones this weekend, and am curious what everyone thought...

MINOR SPOILERS

I think I might be in the minority thinking the alien connection was totally cool. Most people I saw it with wanted another "Holy Grail" Tchotchke, but I was okay with it having an extra-terrestrial connection, and found myself having to remind them how far out past Indy objects have been. I think aliens was a reasonable place to go.

I also felt I was in the minority of my friends who liked Shia LaBoeuf. I think his repoire with Harrison Ford was at the very least an homage to the relationship between Ford and Connery. And the scene in the diner when the greasers get into a fight with the -- to borrow a term from The Outsiders -- Soshes, was classic!

All in all, I would say that this was a competent and enjoyable follow-up. Some people felt the film dwelt too long on noting the fact that Indy was back and told way too many inside jokes in that regard. I say, hell Indy's back! Do what you want!

The Trekkie in me instantly turns to the Enterprise-D of The Next Generation, but then I think of issues of practicality: I mean, where on earth would I park it? The flying and time-traveling DeLorean is tempting, though judging from the trilogy the thing pretty much breaks down every time you use it. I think I would have to pick the Millennium Falcon, which is an awesome looking ship, it's armed to the teeth and it somehow has the ability to turn space into time -- I assume making the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs has something to do with the warping effect of hyperspace? Then again, maybe George Lucas just didn't do his homework. Either way, I think it's the all around best choice in terms of aesthetics, versatility, speed, and of course armaments.

Where would science fiction be without a bold commander leading the charge? Lost in Space, that's where. Captains are the stalwarts of courage, morality, bravery and yes, sometimes even theatricality (I'm looking at you, Jean-Luc Picard). But as they say, the worst crew is a boatful of captains. So in a galaxy of capable commanders, who takes charge?

Who is your favorite Sci-Fi Captain? Are you a Kirk devotee, or is Picard more your warp speed? Is Han Solo a better smuggler than Mal Reynolds? Is David Bowman's Space Odyssey better than Admiral Adama's? Tell us what you think.

I have to go with the Shakespearian Picard, who manages to make any speech, no matter how filled with Treknobabble, a lesson in poetry.
