The stalwart crews of the U.S.S. Enterprise have faced down countless foes in their treks through the Final Frontier. We know all too well the altruistic motives of Captains Kirk and Picard, but what warps their antagonists? Remember: In Gene Roddenberry's universe, "evil" never means "crazy."
Take a look at the many motivations behind Star Trek's movie villains, then vote for your favorite baddie in our online ranking poll. Make it so.

It's been a tough decade for Predator fans, what with two Aliens crossover movies and nary a watchable scene between them. Will the '10s be any kinder to our favorite E.T. hunters? If Robert Rodriguez has anything to say about it, they will. The Grindhouse director is planning a reboot of the series for 2010 called Predators (smartly titled in accordance with James Cameron's first Alien sequel to whet fanboys' appetites), which promises a return to the good 'ole ass-kicking days of Arnold in a rain forest -- minus Gov. Schwarzenegger, of course.
If that's not enough to get your infrared sensors ablaze, take a sneak peek at Dark Horse Comics' Predator #1, the first of an all-new comic book series written by John Arcudi (Aliens, B.P.R.D) with art from Javier Salteras of Ghost Rider fame. The story, to be released this June, unfolds as the world grapples with a bloody third-world Civil War only to find that two warring tribes from the stars have chosen Earth as a battleground for their own conflict. We know, sounds a bit too much like Alien vs. Predator. But Arcudi's a proven talent with a host of palatable Aliens stories, and the art looks downright mesmerizing.
Don't believe us? Take a look for yourself in our Horror Comics Horror Movies photo gallery, where you'll find comic art for everything from Resident Evil to Plan 9 From Outer Space. Relief from the Predator doldrums is finally only a click away.

For a grim avenger of the night, Batman does alright with the ladies. Perhaps it's his cool toys or his leather suit. Perhaps it's his damaged psyche. (Some ladies just want a man to fix.) Whatever it is, they all want to get close, and sometimes Batman drops his guard long enough to let them in on his big secret.
Of course, those who do learn that Batman and Bruce Wayne are one and the same usually don't last very long: There's a near James Bond-ian trail of lovely ladies in the Batmobile's wake. Unlike those squares Clark Kent and Peter Parker, Bruce Wayne prefers to love-em-and-leave-em. Take a look at our salute to the many babes of Batman. See who got access to the Batcave, and who Alfred escorted to the door the next morning.

I'm a fashion hound any day, so one of the things I love most about fantasy is the clothing. You see, fantasy heroes' wardrobes are as integral to their characters as the weapons they wield and the spells they cast. After all, where would Gandalf be without his pointed Wizard's cap and long flowing robes? He'd probably look like a homeless person. 2008 was a strong year for fantasy flicks to be sure, with characters battling undead mummies, journeying to the center of the earth and visiting magical lands where Lions rule -- but how did they look while doing it? Let's find out.
The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
Overall the wardrobe in Prince Caspian was flattering to the cast. The simple lines and muted color palettes reflected their youth while still maintaining a classic appearance. Though the fabrics speak of wealth, they're not ostentatious, which is exactly the look you'd want if adventuring with a prince. I'm particularly pleased to see that both Lucy (Georgie Henley) and Susan (Anna Popplewell) have split skirts, which allow for more fluid movement without sacrificing the lines of their garment for utility. Meanwhile Peter's outfit is a practical brown that nicely resists the inevitable dirt, but still maintains style with the single gold lion-head ornament. And though knee-high boots rarely fly in the real world, on him they're both functional and fantastic.

As scifi franchises go, The Fly might lack the flash of Aliens and the financial might of Star Wars. But it's a worthy series in its own right -- who could have predicted that a short story in Playboy would go on to inspire four movies, much less an opera? But then, who could have predicted how much trouble a stowaway housefly would cause? Take a look how The Fly has morphed over the years. Pretty gross!

Science fiction is filled with strong female characters. We appreciate their leadership, bravery, and their good looks. (But in a totally non-objectifying way.) The babes, er, women in this list were chosen both for their beauty, and their impact on scifi. They're all strong characters played by great actresses... who also happen to physically attractive. Check out our list of the top ten babes of scifi, and feel free to tell us who we missed in the comments.
