20th Century Fox Trademarks Real-Life Slurm

realslurm.jpg

Is Futurama's Slurm disgusting just because, with a heave of an enormous alien gastropod's bowels, it comes squirting out of the sphincter of an extraterrestrial's behind? Well, that's the question, isn't it? As the Slurm Queen reminds us, honey comes from a bee's behind. Milk comes from a cow's behind. We don't think that's disgusting. Why should Slurm be any different?

20th Century Fox apparently agrees. They've trademarked the right to market Slurm... the 31st Century's favorite carbonated beverage. The Slurm trademark includes:

...carbonated and non-carbonated soft drinks; fruit drinks; fruit juices; mineral and aerated water; bottled drinking water; energy drinks; syrups and powders for making soft drinks and other beverages, namely soft drinks, fruit drinks and tea; coffee-flavored soft drinks; Ramune (Japanese soda pops); powders used in the preparation of isotonic sports drinks and sports beverages.

You know, as a Futurama fan, I love the idea of drinking Slurm, but I don't think I'll be buying it if it comes out. I always, frankly, assumed it tasted just like another alien mucous: Mountain Dew. In other words, revolting.
