What Sci-Fi Movie Deserves a Remake?
Last week we ran a poll asking which classic you most hope does not get remade. The overwhelming winner was Alien, with A Clockwork Orange and Metropolis bringing up the rear.
Of course, remakes aren't always a bad thing. Some filmmakers are smart enough to look at an old film and see an idea that was poorly utilized or underfunded that deserves another shot.
So let's get your ideas on the flip side of the question. Of these movies, mostly low-budget efforts from the 1950s and 60s, which do you think would most benefit from a remake with a big budget and top talent?

Phase IV deserves a remake. It is an intelligent film that can only be improved upon with today's technology.
Farenheit 451. The message got lost in the original, badly made, badly acted, badly scored 1960s version. Too bad too, could have been a great movie, the kind that makes people think as well as entertains.
Logan's Run needs a remake. It's a great story that could speak well to today's audiences.
"Voyage to the bottom of the sea" - it could be a family movie about global warming. Love the shark scene!
There are several great older sci-fi movies that could do well with a remake or a sequel.
Day the Earth Stood Still - They Live -The Time Machine- Contact, just to name a few
I think "The Day The Earth Stood Still" would be a good project for a remake. The idea is still there. We could destroy ourselves...if someone does'nt intervene. Think about it.
Soylent Green, 1973. Famine.
TRON. With today's special effects capability, and some really good writing, this would be a fantastic film.
forbidden planet
The Andromeda Strain. Great Movie.Probaly couldn't be made any better thou.
I would love the see the old black and white movie "Them" (about giant radioactive ants) be remade. I love that movie!
Delta Force
Battlefield Earth 2:Electric Boogaloo
Buck Rogers
and despite others' opinion to the opposite, I''d like to see an Industrial Light & Magic version of it, is METROPOLIS.... BUT...as long as they don't turn it into a DISPOSABLE Hollywood "blockbuster" type that stays true to the original film in 'storyline'.
Because it IS great the way it is, I'd just like to see a Metropolis we could create now, (as amazing as it was made THEN) without ruining it. Make sense?
The Disney version of The Black Hole
