Battlestar 4th Season Premiere Delayed Until 2008
After months of equivocating and waving their hands noncommittally about, the SciFi Channel has finally committed to air dates for the fourth season of Battlestar Galactica. Unfortunately, they're a long ways off: even though half the season is already in the can, the SciFi Channel says that because of the Hollywood Writer's Strike (which now appears to be a dead certainty), the earliest we'll see the fourth season premiere is April, 2008.
I think everyone who is following the Hollywood strike knows that, when all is said and done, there's going to be a lot of decisions made that no one's going to be happy with. Essentially, if the Writer's Strike goes through, we are all going to be watching reality television and game shows for most of the next year, and all of the episodic dramas that we love so much (like Lost and Heroes) are going to unceremoniously go on hiatus. Not only is it going to suck for fans of these shows, but it's going to make my job a hell of a lot harder.
The decision by SciFi to delay airing Battlestar Galactica's fourth season until 2008 isn't as cynical as it first appears either. Rumor has it that as of early this week, Moore needed to write six more episodes before November 1st, which is just clearly impossible. Delaying the start of the fourth season until 2008 hopefully means we'll all be able to watch BSG in one uninterrupted run.
Even so, there's something incredibly frustrating about knowing that SciFi could start airing Battlestar Galactica episodes now, but is choosing not to. What do you think? Would you rather see half of Battlestar Galactica now and half when the strike is over, or would you rather wait to see it all in one, long spurt? Let us know in the comments.

what i'd like is to watch it all in a day, heh
I'd like to see 4 and then 4 1/2 when it's finished. They've done it before. We're use to it.
i think they should give us what they have know i've been waiting long enough
This 'strike' is only going to blow up in the writers' faces. All this is going to do is remind people that there are better things to do in life besides sitting around watching TV. Battlestar is truly the only good show on TV. Even 'heroes' for example has a second season that is mediocore at best. There's nothing brilliant enough on TV for me to really care whether or not a show is back on or not. So get out and ride your bikes, talk to your kids, READ A BOOK. Maybe we'll actually get something GOOD once it's seen that people have woken up and noticed what they've been hooked on is CRAP....except BSG...that show can not be touched. They have writers that know what they're doing.
Sci-fi not releasing even season three on DVD yet is the kind of sabotage that they're famous for....remember the lovely season (accent on the singularity) of "Firefly"? *sigh*
To answer the question: I say show me the first half. More money will be made on selling season 4.0 and 4.5 right? It's 'sort of' a win/win situation.
wow...I believe FOX was the saboteur of "Firefly" that's what I MEANT to say...still only ONE season? COME ON!!!
I say show us what they have. It wouldn't be a first time they split up a season. The writer's need to get new jobs.
They weren't calling for the next season until 2008 at the end of last season when the writer's strike wasn't even a thought so I'm not surprised by this. It is the only show besides "Heroes" and "House" that I watch. Hopefully they'll air it before all the actors die of old age though. Might be weird seeing the cast replaced by the cast of Hannah Montana and Drake & Josh.
Hey!,
Ya know the sci-fi channel must be in league with the FOX network...both of these Institutions have Repeatedly cancelled good shows for suspicious reasons..
remember:
Space above and Beyond
Firefly
Futurama
to name but a few..
I wish they would wake up!

Show what you got brother, half is better than nothing!!
Some things just take to long. Shows like battlestar galactica suffers in the process. The Fans Suffer as well. I know I am. I think the writers need to remember that the fans suffer when they go on strike.
Writers Please go back to work, don't have us suffer any longer. Please wake up and see the bigger Picture.
Dude i cant believe thats happening, how do they expect a fan base to not see an episode in close to a year then jump right back into it. It seems like all the worth while shows on tv get canned as they reach their peek.
Just watched Season 3 again. Really waiting for Razor to air 24th, Nov but iTunes isn't providing. don't have SciFi channel.....so have to wait ti Dec 1 DVD then purchase - bummer.....If they already have 1/2 the season, then why not SHOW it! Watched seasons in part before - 1st half beginning of year, 2nd 1/2 after summer months........so what's the difference. Bring it On!

If you want this strike to end contact the networks and tell the big shots to sit down and negociate fairly. These writters play the biggest role in making these shows successful. They just want a fair piece of the pie. TV sux anyway. BSG is the only series I watch, but I can wait. I'd rather see season 4 uninterupted.
The pity is that the few shows that are really worth watching, such as Galactica. I doubt the writers of the really good shows are hurting financially. The remainder probably should find another lineof work considering the absolutely inane garbage that makes the bulk of the programming schedule. We watch Sci-fi, History, A&E, Disney, Discovery, the movie channels and that is about it. I really don't care if the rest of the programs never come back.
I would prefer to wait, but Sci-fi could do some re-runs about who the unknown cylons are to whet our appetite. George Lucas would re-show the Star Wars movies (for money of course) before a new release, but it also got us back in the mind set for the new episode.
