Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (1994)

The Creator: Kenneth Branagh stars and directs in this 1994 adaptation of Shelley's novel.
The Creature: Robert De Niro rages as the Creature, and Branagh plays Dr. Victor Frankenstein.
Scream Factor: Branagh reinvigorates the Frankenstein legend not by focusing on the Creature's grotesqueness, but rather, by exploring the psychological torment the Creature endures. Branagh also examines how the megalomania of Dr. Frankenstein destroys the man himself and those around him.
