The Costumes of The Last Samurai

For her work on The Last Samurai, costume designer Ngila Dickson earned an well-deserved Oscar nomination. In fact, the costumes, which include western and eastern designs were not only Oscar-nominated, they were deemed Barneys-worthy: The kimonos, Civil War uniforms and samurai armor featured in the movie were displayed in the windows of the New York, Seattle and Chicago locations of posh department store when the film was released.
