Joe Kidd (1972)

Duvall wears the black hat this time, playing a ruthless land baron who robs powerless Latinos of their ancestral property. The film functions as commentary on the civil rights struggles of the time. The climactic shootout occurs in a courthouse, illustrating -- sort of -- Kidd's (Clint Eastwood) belief in the law.
