Nobody's Fool (1994)
At 70 years old, Newman recognized he could no longer play the romantic leads he once did. Instead of stepping down, he chose his roles carefully, thus retaining the respect of critics and moviegoers alike. In Nobody's Fool, he;s Sully, an elderly man struggling with a bad knee, preparing for a reunion with his estranged family and facing impending retirement. Sully was at his worst, which meant audience got the best of Newman. The Academy Award nominee unraveled the character's obstacles with more subtlety than ever before.
