Lester Burnham (Kevin Spacey), American Beauty (1999)

Most guys buy sports cars when they experience a midlife crisis. Not Lester Burnham (Kevin Spacey). He informs his icy wife and angsty daughter that their stable, suburban lives are about to undergo major changes. Burnham quits his soul-sucking gig, gets a fast-food job after blackmailing his way into a huge severance package, and takes up smoking pot and bodybuilding. Most shocking of all, he initiates an affair with his daughter's sexy teenage classmate.
