Martin's Scorsese's heady, complex movie brings you into the psyche of Christ-as-tortured-human so completely that it's hard to tear yourself away. Willem Dafoe is hauntingly remote in the title role, and Harvey Keitel stands out in a divisive performance as a rough-edged Judas Iscariot. It's an art-house movie, engrossing biopic, and Oscar-worthy ensemble flick all in one. Amen.
