10. The Greatest Story Ever Told (1965)
George Stevens' ambitious biopic about the life of Christ barely makes the cut, no thanks to its distracting parade of Hollywood A-listers and a running time that originally clocked in at an unholy three hours and 58 minutes. Jesus! But with Max von Sydow as the son of God, this film achieves a measure of greatness (and earned itself five Oscars nominations).
