Bridge on the River Kwai (1957)
The War: World War II, Pacific theater.
The Men: Force 316, a multinational, four-man commando unit specializing in jungle warfare (starring William Holden and Jack Hawkins).
The Mission: Destroy a bridge over the River Kwai that is being constructed by British prisoners of war under Japanese supervision.
The Twist: The bridge is only approachable by trekking through a vast jungle. The mission's most daunting challenge is to destroy the bridge without killing the British soldiers.
