Wagner on the receptionist desk: "Interestingly enough, while the fashion and furniture featured in Mad Men could pass as 21st century, the technology featured here (Jane's IBM Selectric) could not. Despite its dated look, the Selectric model, introduced in 1961, was breakthrough in functionality -- it could display different fonts and had a stationary type-ball design which allowed for a neater, straighter document.”
