The Role: Charley Waite, erstwhile gunman.
The Story: A group of cattlemen are harassed by a rancher who rules the town with an iron fist. They meet with an arbiter and settle their differences peacefully. Nah, just kidding -- they have a huge shoot-out.
The Subtext: The time when entrepreneurial cowboys could drive their herds across the plains has vanished. Once the land was fenced in, an entire lifestyle was lost. In its place are parking lots, mini-malls, and Hot Pockets. And while a Hot Pocket is hard to resist, it doesn't compare to fresh air and sunshine.
