The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou (2004)
The Crew: Bill Murray is an eccentric oceanographer, Anjelica Huston is his ex-wife, and Cate Blanchett is a reporter writing a story on Zissou's exploits. Throw Owen Wilson into the mix, as this is a Wes Anderson movie.
The Mission: In this hipster, postmodern take on Moby-Dick, Murray obsessively hunts for the shark that killed one of his crew. But this "mission" is merely a plot device for the many adventures and wanderings of Zissou and company. The film elicits laughs even in the direst and most heart wrenching of situations. The movie also offers Anderson's typical eye candy -- the world seen through a fun-house mirror -- in the form of both undersea special effects and exotic locales.
