Classic Line: "It's okay, honey: I was just talking to the cornfield." Kevin Costner
The Lineup: Based on the novel Shoeless Joe, Field of Dreams stars Costner as an Iowa farmer who starts to hear voices: "Build it, and they will come," the voices say. The voices also tell him to "ease the pain" of a reclusive author played by James Earl Jones.
The Box Score: Though made in 1989, the elegiac and redemptive tone of Field of Dreams is perhaps the perfect escape for an America mired in on-field scandals (today's steroids revelations) and bitterly divisive wars overseas.
