can't remember the name of this movie

could someone please help me figure out the name of this movie i saw years and years ago? i think it starred debbie reynolds or perhaps doris day...i'm not too sure if it's actually either one, but someone who kind of puts in the mind of them...the lady is engaged to get married and it seems that she lives with her grandparents. the grandfather is ill and close to dying; the doctors have him restricted to bed rest and the grandmother, granddaughter and house staff all keep taking cigars from him, which he has stashed all over his bedroom. the major theme of the movie is based upon advice the grandmother gives the granddaughter which is the premise that if you kiss a man a your toes curl and one foot automatically raises, then that is the man you should marry.

I think the woman kisses her fiance and nothing happens, when she kisses another gentleman who she met after being engaged, he was the one who made her toes curl and caused her foot to raise up.

i have searched everywhere and i cannot figure this one out.
