OK, so I'm a little slow on the uptake...
Before there was Breaking Bad (Hands Down the BEST drama on American television today), there was Hu$tle...the previous titleholder (IMHO)!
Granted, I am one of the weird ones who appreciate Robert Glenister's role the most -- although Jaime Murray was certainly easy on the eyes (So Sorry about 'Valentine', Luv...I liked it!); I am definitely wishful for the return of the wonderful romp that is Hu$tle. So along with Jake (and the many other silent fans), I do appreciate the 'Americanised' version called 'Leverage', but it is not equal to the quality of banter and fun in Hu$tle. Besides, the US crew haven't found a great pub like Eddies!
So PLEASE stop keeping us in the dark...I'd even accept a late-summer (re-run zone) slot...Just Do It!
I agree that Hu$tle was expertly crafted and very clever. ('Leverage,' while good, is not in the same league.) As I was surfing for news, I learned that the BBC had aired season 5 and has optioned a season 6. I, too, hope AMC will pick up these episodes, & soon. They have gotten phenomenally good reviews. (I'm new to this blog... Does someone at AMC review these requests?)
Thank you!
I was beginning to think I was going daft.
Hu$tle had a much lighter and personal pace to it - Leverage has it's good moments, but a lot more technology than old-fashioned grifting.
I agree with Sylvia, in that the writing and character development is a lot stronger on the BBC series.
I also think TNT over-marketed Leverage with text messages, computer contests, and other typical Turner hype. It's a pretty good show, but I could do without all the commercials and external add-ons.
I've been trying to find info on AMC's website - they have made this forum pretty difficult to find unless you look really hard. I thought sure that not only had AMC opted for Season 5, but they were contributing to production.
Now there are only traces of Hustle ever being on AMC.. and I don't see any links from the main page. I Googled around to find some existing links.
Maybe the AMC management is having a hard time justifying a 6-show season.. but it worked just fine for the previous years.
I wish they'd just put some information out there.
Should we fans just go and buy the Region-2 DVDs from BBC, or will AMC eventually show us something?
BBC aired season 5 back in Jan / Feb of 09 (from BBC website).. Even if it is in negotiation/consideration.. at least that is better than the total silence I see now.
Anyhow, let me add an emphatic
** ME TOO !!
I want the next season of Hu$tle - or whatever you AMC and BBC folks decide to market it as next.
