The Newsdesk 10.20.09 - Hairspray Director to Rock; Zemeckis Takes on Airman
• Chris Rock's documentary Good Hair will be released, after a judge sided with the comedian in a legal battle over ownership of the movie's concepts. But is the movie "good" enough to fight over?
• Selena Gomez will star in What Boys Want, a romantic comedy about a teenage girl who can hear what guys are thinking. Basically, they took What Women Want and flipped the gender stereotypes.
• Hairspray director Adam Shankman will tackle a big screen adaptation of Rock of Ages, the rock musical which uses classic songs by Twisted Sister, Journey, Joan Jett, and other greats. Basically, it's Mamma Mia!, but with the greatest music of all time.
• The first photos from The Adjustment Bureau feature Matt Damon hanging out with New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg. Will Bloomberg become the Larry King, turning up in every other movie as himself?
• Spike Jonze's odd collaboration with Kanye West, the short film We Were Once a Fairytale has surfaced online. Unlike Where the Wild Things Are, it's probably NSFW.
• Robert Zemeckis will produce the motion capture animated film Airman, an adaptation of the adventure book by Eoin Colfer. Someone needs to produce an animated movie about a once great director stuck in a creepy motion capture world.BIZ
