The red carpet arrivals for Oliver Stone's W. at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York City on Tuesday was pretty outrageous. Not because of the movie or the stars, but due to one of the stranger coincidences in movie premiere history: Senator John McCain, the Republican presidential nominee, was staying at the Hilton Hotel across the street. Apparently there wasn't much coordination between the premiere folks and the Secret Service. As we were setting up for the premiere, McCain was due to arrive (and did -- which I got on my Flip cam), so the premiere was actually pushed back by half an hour. The whole thing was nuts.
