With this week's Tooth Fairy, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson continues his transition from wrestling icon to movie star. Considering that he's hosted Saturday Night Live, Johnson is clearly on his way. But he's not the first to make the jump and cause a splash. Consider Hulk Hogan! He may be best known for trashy reality TV lately but once upon a time Hogan was both pro-wrestling superstar and mainstream movie star. (Did The Rock costar with Stallone in Rocky III? I don't think so!) So we have to ask...

Meryl Streep is pretty much Queen of The Golden Globes, isn't she? With a pair of nominations this year for Julia & Julia and It's Complicated and an absurd 25 overall, her reign is beyond dispute. But is it about to end? Sandra Bullock is on the rise! This year, the latter actress has scored a pair of nominations of her own: Best Actress for The Blind Side and The Proposal. And since her noms are in two separate categories (Drama and Comedy), she could walk away double-fisting statuettes. No matter what happens, these two leading ladies have clearly separated from the pack. Who do you want to win?

The success (and subsequent slander) of Avatar! It feels like you've been hear before, doesn't it? That deja vu is probably because twelve years ago, director James Cameron's Titanic -- another movie credited with changing the movie-going experience -- was equally revered and reviled. Titanic set the bar for modern special effects and is still the No. 1 movie of all of time at the box office. But Avatar is hot on its heels. So which Cameron masterpiece is best?

Here's a movie trivia question for you: Which Robert Downey Jr. character is a brilliant-but-flawed vigilante with wit as quick as his right fist? That's easy! Sherlock Holmes... or is it Iron Man? Although the two inhabit completely different worlds -- Victorian England and Malibu, California respectively -- these guys have so much in common you might mistake one as the other in period drag. Which begs the question: How do you like your Downey? With superhero accessories or sleuthing with Watson on his side?

Christmas is a time for tradition, and every family has its own. Some go caroling; others sip eggnog. Most curl up in front of the TV to watch a holiday classic. But there, traditions vary too: Some like the holiday movies that make them laugh (National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, A Christmas Story), others prefer the ones that pull the heartstrings (Miracle on 34th Street, It's a Wonderful Life). Which side of the chimney do you fall on?

Writing, directing and producing Terminator 2 (1991) isn't the only thing that kept Avatar director James Cameron busy in the late '80s and early '90s. He also had a brief marriage to talented, if infinitely less celebrated, fellow director Kathryn Bigelow. From 1989 to 1991 the pair were wed, during which time Cameron released The Abyss (1989) and Terminator 2, and Bigelow Blue Steel (1989) and Point Break (1991). Since then she's gone more highbrow with Strange Days (1995) and The Hurt Locker (2008) and he's stayed blockbuster with Titanic (1998) and Avatar (2009). Big picture: Whom do you prefer?

The Golden Globes nominations are out! Yawn, right? They're just the annoying little brother to the Oscars. The Robin Award to Hollywood's Batman Award. But perhaps conventional wisdom has failed you! Think about it: The Globes have stars sitting at tables, laughing at the host's jokes because they're drunk. The Oscars take place in an auditorium and its stars laugh at the host's jokes because it's impolite if they don't. The Globes have TV and Movies. The Oscars? Movies only. Even the Golden Globe statuettes are cooler. You know where this is heading. That's right, the Golden Globes are every bit as enjoyable as the Oscars and you know it. So think about it one last time and then decide which awards show you prefer.

It was only a matter of time before country music followed rap to Hollywood. After all, Nashville royalty has repeatedly been eulogized on the big screen a la
Walk the Line,
Coal Miner's Daughter and
Sweet Dreams. What they haven't done quite as often is become movie stars themselves like hip-hop legends Will Smith, LL Cool J and Mos Def. Aside from Dolly Parton (who's been big on the big screen for decades), aspiring country music stars have been largely heard but not seen. Enter Tim McGraw (
The Blind Side) who has now officially gone Hollywood. So what would you rather see more of? Country stars as actors or rappers doing the same?

In Brothers, coming to theaters this week, star Natalie Portman is faced with quite the dilemma: Tobey Maguire or Jake Gyllenhaal? Spidey or the guy who caused Heath Ledger to swoon in Brokeback Mountain (2005). The pair play the titular brothers and wouldn't you know, they even look alike! What's Natalie Portman to do? Whom do you prefer?
