AMC Announces Robert Kirkman's Thief of Thieves as Project in Development

ToT-Cover-560.jpg

AMC announced today Thief of Thieves, a new project in development from The Walking Dead executive producer/writer Robert Kirkman and Chic Eglee (The Shield, Dexter) based upon the new comic Kirkman created under the same name. The Walking Dead executive producer David Alpert and Kirkman reunite with Eglee who will serve as showrunner. All three also serve as executive producers on the new skein. The comic book Thief of Thieves, a new crime caper published by Kirkman's Skybound imprint at Image Comics, debuted on Feb. 8 and sold out the same day.

"Much like The Walking Dead brought horror to television in a unique and groundbreaking way, I feel Thief of Thieves can do the same thing for heist stories, showing the humanity of all the characters, including the criminals," explains Kirkman, who created The Walking Dead comic in 2003 and still writes each issue, among many other titles.

CSIM-castyear102i_4_1-560.jpg

On Mon., Jan. 2, AMC debuted the newest addition to its drama lineup: CSI: Miami. The show's lead detective, Horatio Caine (David Caruso), and his team of forensic investigators have been solving crimes since 2002. So you know what that means: good-guy, bad-guy, and dead-guy roles to fill for many years. This month, AMC viewers will recognize Mad Men's own Jon Hamm and Breaking Bad's Giancarlo Esposito in two episodes. They're not alone. See who else from AMC appears on CSI: Miami in January.

Wed., Jan. 11, at 5PM | 4C ("Prey")
Sam Page -- better known as Joan's husband, Greg Harris, to Mad Men fans -- plays Jeff Marshall, a much richer man. (He owns a yacht.)

Thu., Jan. 12, at 6PM | 5C ("Felony Flight")
Mad Men's Peyton List (a.k.a. Jane Sterling) guest stars on this episode about an escaped serial killer who sabotages a plane.

None other than Mad Men's Jon Hamm suits up for a very different profession, playing the role of Dr. Brent Kessler.

Fri., Jan. 20, at 7PM | 6C ("Rio")
Breaking Bad's Giancarlo Esposito appears as Chief Braga, a role he reprises from the show's 2008 episode "Ambush."

Thu., Jan. 26, at 7PM | 6C ("Throwing Heat")
Although his character Clovis owns a junkyard on Breaking Bad, actor Tom Kiesche plays a sport agent in this episode of CSI: Miami.

TIFF 2011 Wrap Up - International Pics Trump Hollywood Heavyweights From Pitt and Clooney

where-do-we-go-now-560.jpg

This year's Toronto International Film Festival may have been a star-studded affair, but smaller, international entries got all the glory...

The Lebanese flick Where Do We Go Now?, directed by Nadine Labaki, bested big-gun contenders like George Clooney's Ides of March and Brad Pitt's Moneyball to win the Cadillac People's Choice Award. With the all the Hollywood turnout, this win was a surprise to industry insiders since the award is usually a portent of what's to come at the Oscars. (Past recipients have included The King's Speech, Precious, and Slumdog Millionaire.) How the Academy of Motion Pictures of Arts & Sciences will receive a genre-bending, Middle Eastern musical remains to be seen. But Labaki's tale of Christian and Muslim women coming together to keep the peace in their small town is both lyrical and moving -- two qualities that tend to surpass mere audience appeal when it comes to Oscar consideration.
