Trailer of the Week - Beastly

Could Beauty and the Beast be the next Twilight? That's what CBS Films is hoping for with its adaptation of Alex Flinn's teen lit novel Beastly. And while this trailer is light on plot details, it doesn't scrimp on the tween-baiting elements. Blank, hunky protagonist? That would be Stormbreaker star Alex Pettyfer as privileged jerk Kyle Kingson, who gets turned into a literal monster by a vengeful classmate. Familiar teen face? High School Musical's Vanessa Hudgens plays the potential love interest. The trailer gives us a taste of Pettyfer's brooding narration, then some weird tattoo effects that are presumably meant to suggest "beastly" transformation. (Or just a really bad night out.) Also unresolved: Will Vanessa Hudgens chew on her lower lip as much as Kristen Stewart? And why does the beast sort of look like Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine? We'll find out this summer.
