The Newsdesk 10.23.09 - Hathaway and Harris to Visit Rio; District 9 Director Lines Up Next Project

Anne Hathaway and Neil Patrick Harris are joining the voice cast of Rio, the next movie from Blue Sky Productions (Ice Age).  The story follows "a nerdy macaw who lights out from his small-town Minnesota cage for the exotic Summer Olympic city of Rio de Janeiro." So it's Madagascar with birds, basically.

• Dylan Baker has signed on to reprise his role of Dr. Curt Connors in Spider-Man 4. Maybe he'll finally turn into The Lizard, maybe he'll just keep being Peter's nebbish-y professor.

• The director of District 9 will tackle another scifi movie for his next project. The untitled film will be set on another planet, though it isn't a sequel to District 9

RZA updated fans on the status of his martial arts films The Man with the Iron Fist and The Last Dragon remake. Both of which cannot come out soon enough.

Actor/writer Justin Theroux will produce Air Guitar, a movie set in the world of air guitar competitions. Expect Jack Black and/or Will Ferrell to star.

• A new clip from Jon Woo's Red Cliff features tons of flaming, flying arrows. While cool, I blame Braveheart for this trend.
