Superhero/sci-fi third installments are so often disappointing. Think Superman 3, Spiderman 3, Batman Forever (ug, don't think about that one on second thought.) But between "Rise of the Machines" which suffers from being nothing special, and "Salvation" which takes itself far too seriously, I'll take the less pretensious 140 minute car chase.

The Terminator: Salvation reviews are starting to come in, and it looks like Terminator: Salvation is going to be a hit. The reboot film of the Terminator series, starring Christian Bale, is an update on the film series that began in 1984 with the release of the first film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. The first film was shot for $6 million, and made over $80 million. Some people will look into a quick cash loan to see the new one. Salvation is a franchise reboot, as both prequel and sequel, and it's been getting a lot of buzz. It might be worth short term loans to see if the Terminator: Salvation reviews turn out well.

Does anyone know why the original actors: Linda Hamilton and Edward Furlong were not given the chance to play their parts in Terminator 3? Did Linda's character get killed somewhere and I missed it? I was a bit disappointed when the script made no mention of them. We simply (as the older generation) had to erase them from memory. I have not seen the 4th installment: Terminator Salvation. It seems, again, we start over with another actor carrying the role of John Connor. I remember the 'Alien' series carried Sourgorney Weaver as the actor for the series. It has been difficult to keep readjusting my sites on all the new actors with no mention of the former. I don't know why but it makes the story a little less interesting when original actors are just axed out with no explanation. I loved the first two movies and when the 3rd came out, I felt let down about the guy they used to play John. And now another new face for John in the 4th. I guess I'm too sentimental about the characters. If anyone knows what really happened to Hamilton and Furlong, please share your thoughts. thanks.

crome014: Linda Hamilton was offered the part of Sarah Connor in T3, but she turned them down. I don't know why. It might be because she wasn't paid enough, or she may just not have wanted to do a Terminator sequel; she had been romantically involved with James Cameron at the time of T2. There were reports of her appearing in TERMINATOR SALVATION, but I don't know what came of that; her character obviously doesn't appear in the film.

Edward Furlong wasn't offered the part of John Connor in T3 because by that point he'd become something of a wreck (drugs, scandal, etc.). So Nick Stahl replaced him. I don't know if Stahl was offered the part of JC in TS (probably not) but Christian Bale wound up playing him after being inititally offered the part of Marcus Wright. Bale wanted to play JC instead, who was initially a smaller part. So JC's part was pumped up, Christian Bale got star billing, and we got TERMINATOR SALVATION.

I think Terminator 3 tends to get far too much flack, as it had its moments, it's just that the first two movies were that great that there was a great deal to live up to. Still haven't watched Terminator Salvation as yet, but will try to pick it up on DVD this week (I know that it hasn't got the best reactions), but I'm sure I'll enjoy it.:D

Terminator 3 was pretty good but certainly not the best of the 4 movies (and the 5th 2 1/2 included). I'd say the 4th is the greatest of the series, and puts somehow more humanity than all the other the humanity of the terminator.
