Horror Power Ranking - March 2, 2009
It's sequel time, Horror friends. Besides the inevitable Friday the 13th sequel there's news on both Twilight sequels, and some very unnecessary POV camera sequels; it looks like the sequel is overtaking the remake as the horror meme of the moment. Let's check it out:

Friday the 13th Part 2 Hey, that didn't take long. The "first" movie had the biggest opening weekend in horror history, and now, with the initial prestige release out of the way, we can concentrate on bigger kills and more fun. |

Last House on the Left After revisiting the original this weekend, I can honestly (and surprisingly) say... I'm excited for this remake. Yes, it does away with the gritty reality of the original, but it looks like it hasn't lost any of the creepiness. |

Ouija We haven't heard too much it, but the veil of secrecy has finally been lifted. And given the deadly serious manner the producers talk about Ouija, this has the makings of a hilarious classic. |

Twilight 2-3: It's Bad (No, It's Not) On the down side, star Kristen Stewart trashed the movie this week. On the plus side, a woman is directing the third film. On the... even? side, Drew Barrymore is that woman. I'm bumping this up two spots for keeping things interesting. |

H2: Halloween 2 Say what you want about Rob Zombie's H2 (and a lot of you certainly have), he doesn't skimp on the blood, if this picture is any indication. Like F13th 2 above, this sequel has a chance to fix some mistakes... Fingers crossed. |

Jennifer's Body Our own Todd Brown's round-up of the pre-release hype for this movie (which we still haven't seen one frame of), only makes us... more excited for it. The theme this week seems to be delightful disasters, and this is no exception. |

Cloverfield 2 Saying some movies shouldn't have sequels is like saying you shouldn't have another potato chip: obvious, but impossible to enforce. Unless J.J. Abrams' brilliant idea is that Clover was carrying a Mini-DV cam, too, I might skip this one. |

REC 2 Speaking of unnecessary sequels with POV cameras, REC gets another go-around that begins fifteen minutes after the end of the last one. Gosh, I hope someone releases those missing fifteen minutes as a viral video! Sarcasm, FYI. |

Nightmare on Elm Street I keep getting into chats about how cool the practical effects were in the original Nightmare and how Robert Englund might have created the greatest movie monster of all time. Suffice to say, I'm not looking forward to this remake. |

Scream 4 Speaking of ideas that get worse the more you talk about them, we need a Scream sequel like I need another potato chip. Just out of curiosity, do I now hold the World's Record for "Most Metaphors about Potato Chips?" |
