Eric Rawlins of Rutherford, New Jersey is the winner of our Ultimate Night of the Living Dead Quiz winner. We asked Eric a few questions about how he was able to answer all of the fan quiz questions and what he likes about NLD.

1) Did you have to consult your DVD for the answers or did you just know them?

I did have to "go to the video tape" for number ten; in fact, I almost posted a response to say that it was a trick question, it was impossible to know the answer without consulting, say, John Russo's book, The Complete NLD Filmbook. But then I reread the question and realized the answer had to be in the movie. It's  almost impossible to hear the announcer say the name of the state, since the radio cue is way, WAY in the background at this point, but I knew it had to be a state in "the eastern third" of the U.S., and that it had an ess or zee sound in the middle. I actually didn't know whether I got that one right, I just took my best shot and kept my fingers crossed!

Then, in ever-increasing bands of intensity, you have the more serious types.

What kind of guy knows The Shining so well he can rattle off what's in the food can Wendy is opening in a scene in the Overlook Hotel kitchen?  David Leighton -- the winner of our Ultimate Shining Quiz-- first watched the movie at the age of sixteen while his parents were out. We asked him from his home in Portland, Maine, how he knows so much about the movie.

 1) Why are you an ultimate fan of this movie?
I am a huge fan of The Shining:  I've got the obligatory "Here's Johnny!" print on my wall; I enjoy writing fan fiction about The Shining for a couple of yahoo groups: theshiningplace and theshiningfanfiction; my moniker is caretaker217, the screensaver on my cell is of Jack in the hedge maze, and thanks to ebay- I now own a repro of the final scene of the 4th of July pic. But I won't really consider myself the "ultimate fan" until  I've made the pilgrimage to the Shining mecca - Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood. When I'm standing on those steps I know I will have made it!

Thanks to all of you who took the time to take this week's Ultimate The Shining Fan Quiz - proving wrong those who suggested that the questions were TOO HARD. Many of you came very close to getting all of the answers correct -- but only one made a completely successful revisit to the Overlook Hotel.
