Convinced that evil supernatural forces walk among us? Hollywood sure is -- consider how many films deal with the devil. But who's your favorite of the bunch? Would you be more freaked out by George Burns cajoling you to join his dark minions or by Linda Blair vomiting pea green soup on your shirt?

Is it just me, or do horror and hairstyles go eerily hand in hand? Take a look at AMC's Classic Hairdos poll and you'll see several contenders suggesting that horror filmmakers, like beauticians, like to work from the top down.
When Mia Farrow got her boyish cut for Rosemary's Baby, she didn't just establish a character -- she made headlines. That new look inspired many a gal to bare her neck even as it added a dramatic vulnerability to Rosemary's plight. More recently, Tim Burton riffed on his own crazed hairstyle in Edward Scissorhands by having Johnny Depp sport a spikey homage to Goth culture.
Of course the queen mother of mad makeovers is Elsa Lanchester in Bride of Frankenstein. That mile-high haystack will forever be associated with light-sockets and warnings of what not to put in them. The Bride currently has a lock on the AMC poll, with Depp hot on her heels. But no matter who wins, it proves what fans already know: beauty fades, but horror lasts forever!

Wolf Man fans who were howling at the prospect of Brett Ratner taking over the forthcoming remake--following news last week that Mark Romanek was stepping down from the project--can now sleep easy. The man who brought you such threequels as Red Dragon, Rush Hour 3, and X-Men: The Last Stand will not be helming Universal's upcoming $85 million production.
Instead, Joe Johnston will be directing. For those of you who don't know, Johnston is the creative, erm, genius, behind Hidalgo and Jurassic Park III. So the question now arises: Will Johnston be an improvement? Let us know what you think.

This could be a banner year for horror. New films from genre masters such as George A. Romero (Diary of the Dead), Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy II), and M. Night Shyamalan (The Happening) will all be vying for box office dollars opposite a few new sequels (The Mummy III) and a remake or two (The Eye). (Don't miss our Jessica Alba quiz in regards to that last one!)
For the moment, Cloverfield appears to be generating the most buzz but that's simply because it's opening next Friday. The Box, the latest from Richard Kelly (Donnie Darko), has a much more impressive cast—Cameron Diaz, James Marsden, and Frank Langella—if a less solid release date. Which 2008 horror film are you most looking forward to? Take our poll and let us know.

I tell ya, folks, it's a pity we were only able to choose 10 quotes, because Army of Darkness is full of beauties. What's your favorite?

The latest David Cronenberg classic on the remake block is The Brood, the 1979 psychological thriller featuring a scary cast of mutated children. This announcement comes on the heels of another remake in the making -- a new version of Scanners to be directed by Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II and Saw III).
But really, what talent or originality does it really take to pitch a remake of a thematically rich classic film? In my opinion, that's why Cronenberg films should not be remade. His films are so complex and multi-layered that any remake is likely only to dumb down the story rather than explore the subtle horror behind everyday events. The day someone has the bright idea to remake Videodrome is the day I stop watching movies.
Still, there are a handful of great horror remakes. Take our poll on which remake is best.
