It's as if someone handed writer/director Jordan Galland a list of miscellaneous elements and challenged him to produce a film that included them all: Hamlet, vampires, the Holy Grail, Sean Lennon, the mafia and ... Ralph Macchio. His reply? Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Undead. Cinematical reports that the horror/comedy will star Dustin offspring Jake Hoffman and Six Feet Under's Jeremy Sisto, with Macchio and Devon Aoki pitching in as well, and Lennon providing the score. The story sounds something like Shadow of the Vampire with banana peels under each foot.

Fortunately, this is one genre where having a confusing mess on your hands makes perfect sense. Last year's Hot Fuzz must have looked just as strange on paper, and that worked out just fine. In R&G's case, more matter doesn't mean less art.
