Ho-Hum: DVD Cover of April Fool's Day

April If you were at least marginally excited about the Butcher Bros. remake of April Fools Day, the release of the DVD cover art is sure to dampen that enthusiasm. The movie, which is going straight to DVD, possesses one of the most banal pieces of horror graphics in some time. Without the tag line, "She has a killer party planned," this image could be promoting anything from an adventure movie to a romance with a love triangle. Right now, the only reason to watch the film is for the usually on-target work of Scout Taylor-Compton. And to think: April Fool's Day was supposed to be Mean Girls reconceived as horror. Can you see any of that in the artwork? Hopefully, Sony will change its corporate mind, see the error of their ways and understand that packaging should reflect the material.

I've never judged a movie (or book) yet on the cover, so I'm really not concerned about the movie quality yet. But yeah, that cover is pretty boring. Never thought I'd say that about any cover that showed that much cleavage, but there it is. I have faith in the Butcher Bros. though.
