Fear Friday: Small Scares and Big Bugs
After decorating that tree and wrapping those toys, you may grow suddenly wary of some of the kids' gifts after viewing Puppet Master. Airing tonight at 1:15 a.m. EST, this perversion of playthings concerns one odd puppeteer (William Hickey) who discovers his marionettes are murderous demons. He takes his own life—Who wouldn't?—but afterwards, the puppets keep on killing. At 3 a.m., the early splatter film Flesh Eaters further emphasizes that your source of gore can be tiny. (In this case, it's amoebas.) Then, at 4:45 a.m., Earth vs.the Spider inverts the whole thing by featuring an arachnid that's big and nasty. I always watch spider movies to try to overcome my arachnophobia. So far, it hasn't gone away but the goosebumps are somehow appealing.
