Meet A Reader: Microwaved
Loyal goatling Microwaved sent us this picture of himself with indie demi-god Bruce Campbell. That's Micro on the left. The legend gets the chair.
He also hipped us to his MySpace music site which has some hardcore Tuesday tracks to check out. Microwave's Music! That influence list reads like a mix tape from the Raven's own collection, so we've got a lot in common, devoted reader.
Short of making your own horror movie and booking yourself as a guest on our Horror Department show, the best way to see yourself Writ on Blood on our site is to send us a pic to our monsterfestpics@gmail.com address. Be like Microwaved and maybe he'll show you the cool sketch Ash Sharpie'd into his book.

Yay for Microwaved! It's cool to put a face (and music) with the name. I have to say--I think Ash may be the cutest baby I have ever seen!
Ah shuchs, that was an awful nice little bit o' writing there!
Funny story about the day of the picture. So we are told quite specifically that Bruce will only sign one item and that that item is his new book and only his new book. I had brought with me the Anchor Bay Evil Dead II Limited Edition tin in hopes that he would sign that for me before I found out about the strict rules. So I was disappointed to say the least. After Bruce got done with his talk and Q & A we were invited up to meet him, get a picture and get our book signed. So I'm going through the line and it's pretty much the book and only the book getting signed. I finally get face to face with Mr. Campbell, you must remember here folks I named my son Ash, and I'm completely star struck, I don't even know what to say. I'm not usually like this, I'm the guy that asked Clive Barker if I could direct his next movie and when Clive laughed at me, I said "no I'm serious someone took a million dollar chance on you to make Hellraiser why don't you take million dollar chance on me". I've never seen that look in anyone's eyes like that before, but I digress. So here I am face to face with the man, the myth, the chin and I hand him my book and he says;
"I suppose it's kind of early for you being university town?"
"What?" I reply.
"Were you partying last night?"
"No, I'm not in college I have a real job a wife a house you know"
"Oh, give me that."
"What?"
"The DVD, I'll sign it."
"You will, holy sh*t."
And he did, Bruce signed my tin and even signed it Ash. He will forever be the coolest dude I've ever met since he did something for me that he didn't have to do. It was the best.
If only you had a pic of Clive "I got soft in Cali." Barker's face from that story. A bold tale to be sure. If only it had paid off. Your autograph book must be impressive.
Thanks for the pic and the expanded narrative. Campbell is one of the good guys for sure.
No problem Todd! I just love coming to a place to read about horror that doesn't seem to have an agenda or is over populated with horror snobs. I like all horror films from all genres from the indies to the big hollywood blockbusters and when I read the words you guys write here I feel like I've found some kindred spirits. So thanks for doing what your doing!
I really wished my boldness would have paid off as well, but alas it didn't. And you'd be surprised by my autographs. I only have five: 1.)Clive Barker - signed my Hellraiser/Hellraiser II VHS Box set 2.)Burce Campbell - His second book and the Evil Dead II DVD Tin 3.)Tom Savini - Dawn of the Dead Ultimate Collection 4).Stuart Gordon - Re-Animator DVD and lastly but definitely not the least 5.)Lloyd Kaufman - Toxic Avenger 25th Anniversary DVD. I've never been one for autographs despite all the people I've hung out with, which that list is probably far too lengthy for this.
bruce campbell, it would be honorable to meet him. how long did you talk with him, Mircowaved. he would be great to meet, but it also looks like the "let me sign your stuff, there 50 other people in line" kinda deal. well, i imagine there would be a ton of people there to meet bruce. congrats, Microwaved.
You only had about 5 or so minutes with Bruce before the next fan came up. There was a huge amount of people that wanted to meet and chat with him. So while I would have liked to sit and pick his brain for awhile he really didn't have the time, but I was very thankful for the time I did get to talk to him.
