Rob Zombie Visited Me in the Night, and I Lived to Tell the Tale

Rob_zombieYesterday evening I had the opportunity to do a live, in-person interview with Rob Zombie.  You'll see the video evidence in the next few days as the next installment of The Horror Department.

I wanted to be properly prepared for it, so I watched a grillion web videos and interviews.  In most of them, the host/interviewer was wearing a t-shirt or was otherwise casual.  As you  have seen, I usually wear a sportcoat.

In several installments over the next few days, I'm going to give you every candid detail of Rob Zombie's visit, but in order to mirror my own experience, I'll ask you to do the prep work as well and tell me.

Were you to interview, say, Dario Argento or George Romero or John Carpenter or Rob Zombie, would you...hey, check out the poll.

This has me torn Todd. I would like to go in wearing my Night of the Living Dead T-Shirt from http://www.rottencotton.com but your point about being dressed to the nines reminded me of why Sam Raimi wears a suit to the set everyday, to show respect for the craft and the crews that he works with. Although I know Rob is a friend of Shawn over at Rotten Cotton so that might impress him that I have given his friend my hard earned cash, but on the other hand you have probably a hundred dudes that have already interviewed him this week in jeans and a T-shirt and he is probably ready to sit down with someone who takes their job a bit more seriously. Dang, I don't know. But I'm leaning towards the nines.

Ha, I'd totally cosplay. Though I think I'd be dressed as his Sherry from the "Never Gonna Stop" video in the sezzy Russian getup.

Finally A Decent Re-Make Of A True Horror

I have to say I was extremely pleasantly surprised with Rob Zombies masterful work on his re-make of the horror classic Halloween. I have never been a fan of Rob Zombies movies so I went to the theater with doubt. Maybe this was a good thing, because was I surprised and entertained beyond belief. The back-story of Michael Myers was genius, and his dark larger then life appearance made me very quiver. I know it's virtually impossible to re-make classic movies, such as the Omen, When a Stranger Calls, The Fog, the list goes on and on. But, I have to say Mr. Zombie hit the nail on the head. Bravo!! I read a few critic reviews, and they were harsh and very unfair. All I know is that on this particular evening the theater was full, and a lot of screaming and squawking went on. When the movie was finished the audience did clap. Doesn't that count for something? Who are the critics anyway, it's we the people that matter! This may be the kind of movie that has a bigger influenced impact on a larger screen, so I don't know how well it will do on DVD? Sort of like War of the Worlds, great in the theater but missed something on the small screen. All I have to say to Mr. Rob Zombie is this, keep up the great work, I loved your movie, and less is more. Meaning, less blood and violence please.
