Castlevania Rewrite: Good News Or Bad?
If you're a gamer, you know that Castlevania is one of the most beloved and appreciated video game franchises on the planet -- and has been for nearly 21 years. With the exception of Legacy or Darkness and maybe Curse of Darkness, these Konami-made vampire games have always given me a shiver along with a jolt of excitement.
So I have to say it doesn't come as good news that, according to Bloody Disgusting, Ian Jeffers has completely re-written Paul W.S. Anderson's script for the movie. Yeh, Anderson left the project, and, yeh, Sylvain White from Stomp The Yard is the new director. And I know he has a new vision.
But Jeffers' only credit is the Kevin Bacon/Kelly Preston thriller Death Sentence, which comes your way on Friday. I'll reserve complete judgment until I see Death Sentence. But, overall, games into movies have mostly been duds. I hope this one ain't.

I'd say good news. While I don't have the hate for Paul W.S. Anderson that a lot of genre fans have, he isn't all that great of a writer so I think this is good news.
i hear you, microwaved. gotta see that bacon movie and then i'll know. thanks for the two cents!
They had better set this in the same universe as the DS games because Universal already HAS an anime-like period piece with vampires: Van Helsing!
And if you ask me, Sommers needs to step away from Paramount for a moment and stop Universal from throwing the franchise into cheapquel hell. We fans aren't going to stand for it.

Wow, maybe someone in Hollywood does pay attention to the fans after all. Someone finally realized how awful Paul W.S. Anderson's work is? Then again, didn't he leave Castlevania alone because he just had to Death Race? This guy is a chump and must've attended the Uwe Boll Film School for 2 semesters.
Speaking of Castlevania...there's some hauntingly beautiful music in Castlevania II. One captivating piece is titled, "Bloody Tears". Does anyone know more about the music/who the composers are? Thanks for the other info. that was actually more than I ever wanted to know.
