Late Question of the Week - What Do You Collect?
To the left of the text here is an hilarious talking plush Capt. Spaulding doll. He's from House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects, natch.
I stumbled across it while looking for news on that new line of horror-themed Aurora Model Kits.
It made me wonder who would buy it and then what other sort of collectible horror merchandise folks buy and display. Beyond DVD's, there's autographs and Colorforms and action figures and comic books and posters and crazy t-shirts for starters.
So, here's our Late Question of the Week:
What sort of horror collectibles do you buy, and where do you display them?
My answer: Lobby cards! I have drawers full of 'em! I have a bunch of them framed and hung on my wall.
Your turn!
I'm totally forming a band called the Lobby Cards, and you can be in it, goatlings!

Collecting is my downfall. If I could spend what ever I wanted I would be a huge collector of Action Figures, but I don't have that kind of cash. But I do collect Comic Books. I also have a thing for Horror T-Shirts from Rotten Cotton.
i collect horror action figures and horror t-shirts. most of the figures are from the movie maniacs or cult classics lines but i like some others too. i usually get the horror t-shirts from fright-rags but ill get ones i like no matter who the store is. i also have a few pins, stickers, posters, and a john dugan autograph (grandpa from the 1974 texas chainsaw massacre) i dont collect those by set or anything i just have them. im mostly a horror figures and horror shirts kind of guy.
Lobby cars, eh? Sounds interesting. What are some of your favorites?
As for collecting, for me it's mostly about the action figures. I have anything from the Nightmare Before Christmas, Jeepers Creepers, House of 1000 Corpses and some of those tiny Mez-Itz of Freddy, Jason, and Leatherface. I even have some Munsters collectibles (love my Dragula car).
Since I have hundreds of horror films on DVD, I recently got into the world of collecting horror posters... Talk about a fast way to go broke. My favorite one so far? The Raven (Vincent Price film).
Sorry, I meant lobby cards (not cars). Anyways, I was checking out that link to Lobby Card Invasion and it's pretty neat. I knew cards like that existed, but I never knew they came in sets of eight. You really do learn something new everyday here on the Monsterfest blog.
My son turns six months old today so on Saturday I bought him a 6.5 inch Godzilla (1954) action figure. I'm starting him out on the good stuff as soon as possible before his mom tries to take all the geek out of him!
Thanks for playing. I'm glad you got a kick out of that site. I spend more time there than I should. The last set of lobby cards I bought were for Hercules Against the Moon Men.
Well done with the squeeze toy Godzilla, Microwaved. You're bringing that kid up right. Six months? A belated happy half birthday from Monsterfest! Caw!
I'll have to check out Rotten Cotten. I should call Joe first, though, so we don't wear the same shirt at the same time.
