Fear Friday ... Pinata: Survival Island

Check out on AMC tonight's Fear Friday screening of Pinata: Survival Island at 12:30 am, followed by The Beast Must Die at 2:15 am. In these camp classics, first, Jamie Pressly does her best to make it "so bad it's good" and in the second film there's a "Werewolf break" for you to guess the killer.

AMC FEAR FRIDAY: how come we dont change movies often. we see child's play (which was on last night) all the time. dont get me wrong its a good movie but lets see child's play 2 (which has been on once before) instead of pt 1 so much. how about showing something we havent seen in a while. halloween 1 and 2 havent been on since last year. amc has the right movies, just the wrong times. later this month house comes on (with something else we have seen many times before) why not show house pt 2 with it instead. now im not saying amc fear friday is bad, actually its the best thing on cable tv. i just think we need to vary movies before. they're are many great horror films out there amc has never shown that sould make it on the air, even if they have the be heavily cut. keep up the good work!

I posted a Blog yesterday in regards to the subject of “Fear Friday” and AMC it seems took it off. I wasn’t aware that you were not allowed to state constructive criticism on a your Blog?

I am very disappointed in you AMC. Shame on you.

I will be posting another very hardcore critique Blog in regards to the movie, “I Spit on your Grave” Lets see if they allow it.

I was under the impression that all Blogs were open for an honest discussion, not to be censored.

I am shocked and appalled!

Rebecca - We don't remember seeing your comment. Are you sure it was posted? There was a rash of spam posts yesterday and they were removed in a large group. It's possible your post was mistakenly caught up in that. We do reserve the right, please note, to remove comments that are abusive, profane, spam or off topic. If you note below, Joe has also posted a bit of a critique.

Thank you for your response. I guess you do read what your viewers write.

I am very impressed by this email from Monster Fest.

But I can assure you my Blog was not abusive, profane nor off topic.

I will write my critique in regards to my thoughts on Monster Fest soon.

Thank you.

My comments are in reference to not only “Fear Friday”, but also “Monster Fest”

This was a brilliant idea of AMC to recognize all us horror Connoisseurs and oblige us with a Friday night of scare, along with a ray of 24/7 horror during the month of October.

Now for my critique of both shows. Starting with “Fear Friday”

One, we need to start a tad bit early. Not all of us can stay up this late.

Two, you do need to stop repeating the same old movies, and Piñata Island is an embarrassment to all horror fans.

Why not be a little daring and adventurous and show some films other then, The Exorcist, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street etc. Not that we do not enjoy these classic horror films, but we have all seen them 100 times and it does get a bit boring.

How about airing more sequels of these classics?

Maybe enlighten us with some classic good old fun X-generation 80’s slasher flicks such as, Terror Train, Prom Night, Happy Birthday To Me an April Fools Day just to name a few.

How about the some real classics like Psycho, The Birds, the 1963 The Haunting, Legend of Hell House, The Stepford Wives, Trilogy of Terror, The Legacy, Burnt Offerings, The Omen, The Challenging, Suspiria, and Phantasm just to name a few.

Some of us have yet to see these great films, and others have not seen them at all.

Not even Block Buster carries many of these titles.

Let your younger viewers experience a few great older films that are just as scary if not more then these Hostile, and Saw movies, which are nothing more then torture not horror.

Now that I know you are reading all our Blogs from your AMC viewer you have enough suggestions to make “Monster Fest” for 31 days of 24/7 exciting horror without many repeats.

Commercial free would be great too? Just kidding?

Lets keep up the great work and Happy Halloween!

Let Halloween 2007 Rock!

Some good points and suggestions made here, but I will have to disagree about some of the films being a good watch even if they are heavily edited. No Romero "Dead" film is fun to watch with heavy censoring. There's just something very painful about having a curse word replaced by a "holy crud". Just my opinion though.

If I were to make a suggestion or two... No more showing's of "Pinata: Survival Island". That is a terrible, terrible film. And my other suggestion would be the revival of the Horror Host or Hostess personality that was so great to watch while I was growing up in the 80's. Elvira will always hold a special place in my heart. The Horror Host/Hostess just adds more to the viewing of a horror film (facts, trivia, and poorly written jokes). This is something that I think would make FEAR FRIDAY's all the more enjoyable.

One last thing if I may... I saw in an earlier post a comment about showing sequels to the F13 films. I noticed on July 13th (that's right, another joyous Friday the 13th) that AMC will be showing "Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood" and "Friday the 13th Part 3: 3D" that evening. Both great films. But what's up with showing Part VII before Part 3? That makes no sense to me, fiends.

Keep up the great work. MonsterFest XI is only four months away and I can't wait.

Bring Back The Horror Host!!!

i like some of the stuff the others have said. i think it would be great to have a horror host and we also need some fear friday promos.

please avoid showing movies like pinata: survival island. and show pet semetary one more time, its great.

how come your only showing 2 friday the 13ths, at last oct. there were 6 of them.

im looking foward to monsterfest, its my most favorite thing to watch all year. i liked last years monsterfest a lot but i felt there was too many repeats of halloween 3-8, hellraiser 1&2, and the excorcist.

thanks! happy halloween!!!!!!!

Just out of curiousity, is there a way of knowing what films a certain television channel owns the rights to? Because I remember when you could bet on the Universal Monster films playing every year during MonsterFest and then one year they didn't and come to find out that Turner Classic (which I am no fan of - TCM totally neglected the Universal Monsters and they should pay for that) had the films for a bit, but then returned to AMC last October where they belong.

default userpic

I wasn’t aware that AMC had a host at one time for Monster Fest?

I think this is a terrific idea. This would really liven it up a bit.

Also, I do agree with, where are the “Universal Monsters?”

Yes, I have seen you show them in the past but at 2-3am?

Do you really think that your viewers are all kids and only want to see Chucky, and Freddy? No, my friends and myself are X-Generation and love the old black & white classics that we grew up with on WGN Chicago channel 9, plus all the 80’s slasher flicks too.

Lets make “Monster Fest” 2007 Rock this year!!!

default userpic

i have to second the others. the classics are never on befor 3 am. the 70s and 80s are great but there are other decades of horror out there that need to be seen too. i also am really supporting the idea of a horror host, it would make it all the more spooky, and also some fear friday promos too.

ive heard that amc monsterfest and monstershd are sistering networks. i know you show a lot of their movies and their "coming soon" movies but monstershd has many great flicks out there that have not been shown on amc monsterfest or fear friday that need to be.

i also think amc fear friday and monsterfest has many repeats of movies. i dont mind you re-showing movies but every other week is too much.

i know this sounds like i am complaining to you, im sorry for that. i am a very big fan and watch every week. these are just things that really need to be done. thanks! happy halloween! lets make monsterfest 11 be the best!!!!!!

Hi, thanks for the many comments on Fear Friday and we've passed these on to the team that programs it. We know they've read the comments and, being the good folks they are, are giving them consideration.

default userpic

monsterfest: thank you for taking the time to read and consider our suggestions. most channels usually ignore their fans. good luck with the suggestions, lets make every friday night halloween and make monsterfest even better! thanks! happy halloween!

default userpic

Well Amc yes I would have to say you guys a really back. Monsterfest is getting ready to roll on and I have not missed one in 4yrs. I just want to thank you guys for giving horror fans a week that they can watch scary movies. For this year I would like to see Rosemary' Baby, bring back the Omen Triology, along with the Amityville horror. I say have fun and continue to get the fans involved because without the fans the stations is nothing.

default userpic

Hi I work here on the blog and both the blog and the channel appreciate your loyalty and feedback. We're passing all this on to the team that programs the channel. We'll keep you in the loop on changes and new features. Thanks again.

Dear Fear Friday,

Since we are aware that you do read our emails I have a suggestion and a huge favor to ask.

Can you please consider airing Halloween 6 instead of Halloween 4 & 5? You have beaten those movies to death! Plus, I am so tired of that annoying screaming little girl.

Halloween 6 is a great sequel with a terrific story line. Plus, it’s Dr. Loomis’s last Halloween appearance ever.

Please take this in great consideration.

Many thanks!!!!!

Let Monster Fest Rock & Roll this 2007!

default userpic

Ps.

How about Ghost Ship, Identity and Phantasm. Three very creepy, spooky thrilling fun horror movies to view during the Halloween bewitching season.

BOOOOOO!!!

Sighed, The Queen of Scream!

default userpic

how about throwing in creepshow, creepshow 2, the thing (80s), texas chainsaw massacre (1974), pet semetary 2, the deadly mantis, and dead alive. all great flicks that should be on this years monsterfest!!!!! happy halloween!

also for monsterfest dont show halloween 4&5, halloween: ressurection, and gothika. you have played the heck out of these films and they do not need another 8pm 10pm showing. still play hellraiser 1&2 and the exorcist just not as much as last year. i hope you consider my suggestions, thank you.

make my favorite holiday and favorite time to watch amc the best ever!!!!! happy halloween!!!!!

default userpic

Hi we'll talk to the programming team - but often films are scheduled far in advance so that everything is squared away for October. We'll certainly pass the suggestions along.

default userpic

One last comment and I will stop with all my suggestions.

Reading all the blogs from “Top Ten Monster’s” to Fear Friday, etc.,

Myself and maybe one other person mentioned the “Scream Trilogy?”

These three are Wes Craven 90’s classics, and superbly fun & scary movies.

“What’s your favorite scary movie?”

Why not show all three back to back. How fun would that be on a “Fear Friday” or an October scary night?

Just something to think about.

Thank you in advance,

The Countess of Blood.

default userpic

The Legacy

Alien & Aliens

Invasion of the Body Snatchers

The Thing

Village of the Damned

The Stepford Wife’s

Mad House

Session 9

Creep Show

Ghost Ship

50) Identity

the thing (80s)

texas chainsaw massacre (1974)

pet semetary 2

the deadly mantis

dead alive

boogeymen 2: masters of horror

prom night

return of the living dead

make this years monsterfest great with the classics!!!!!!!!! happy halloween!!!!!

default userpic

this time this is my last post. i want to see all the movies i listed below plus evil dead and evil dead 2: dead by dawn. if your gonna get army of darkness you gotta have evil dead 1 and 2 too. i would love to see these films on fear friday along with the other i listed in my last post below.

Other networks have 25 days of Christmas, so why do you AMC only have 13 days of Halloween? I do realize that 13 are an unlucky number so there is a pun. But I find this very discriminating towards us horror puffs. There is way more horror movies then Christmas movies to choose from, plus horror is much more fun to watch!

As you can see from the 100’s of blogs you have been receiving horror has a huge following, especially during the witching hours of Halloween.

So how about indulging us with 31 days not 13? I find this very acceptable, how about you? Maybe next year you can consider this?

I would be thrilled to be able to come home each night knowing that I can flip on AMC and there will be a scary movie to watch.

If the other AMC viewers don’t appreciate it, let then turn on TCM!

I was wondering does anybody have AMC MONSTERFEST 2000 where the classics come alive which starred linda blair and whoopi goldberg on tape or had on tape but is on laserdisk? i would really like to buy it from anyone that has the past monsterfest from the year 2000 when amc was playing just the old classic horror movies thank you. Please get back to me if you have it. thanks again
