Infamous Monsters of Filmland

Night_of_the_lepus_posterI know that some of you are disappointed that you didn't see your favorite movie monsters in our Top 25 poll (I wanted to see The Blob myself), but we limited ourselves to 25, so some of the great ones missed the list.  However, there is another set that didn't come anywhere near our list: Allow me to present moviedom's least terrifying movie monsters:

Blood Freak - A murderous biker is turned into a giant killer turkey in this early 70s indie effort.  Perfect Thanksgiving viewing.

It Conquered The World - This early Roger Corman effort pits Peter Graves and Lee Van Cleef against what appears to be a giant cucumber from outer space.  Van Cleef loses to said cucumber and right there all logic goes out the window, because Lee Van Cleef is only allowed to be defeated by Clint Eastwood.  No exceptions.

The Giant Gila Monster - It's a big lizard stomping around models.

Night of the Lepus - Giant killer bunnies stampede through Arizona and only Stuart Whitman, Janet Leigh, and Deforest Kelly can stop them.  Yes, this is a real movie.

The Giant Spider Invasion - The giant spiders in question are actually VW Bugs covered in fur.  When they name the car a "bug", I don't think it was meant to be taken literally.

Minilla, Son of Godzilla - We all grew up with Godzilla and we love him like a member of the family.  But we've been putting up with Minilla (a.k.a. Minya) for a long time.  And you, Minilla, are no Godzilla.

Did we miss any?  Let us know!

I seem to remember something called attack of the Killer Tomatoes. My plate of spaghetti still trembles.

The original blob should have made the list. As should Gort of Day the Earth Stood Still fame. And I think maybe the Wicked Witch of the West from Wizard of Oz; she scared the pants off a lot of kiddies in her day.

heres a bad one you missed; lobo from bride of the monster (tor johnson). i know ed wood is supposed to be the worst director ever but i keep watching his films for some reason.

and dont make fun of the giant gila monster. i know its dumb but i actually liked the movie.

I will have to say Gatchaman Phantom from "Phantom of the Paradise"...because you can't be inconspicuous dressed like an evil character from a sentai anime. Here's hoping the remake ditches that for a Visual Kei look...

Phantom of the Paradise remake? First I've heard of it. I know there was talk of a Broadway musical, but a remake?

Does Anyone Remember Killer Clowns from Outer Space?

Or It? pennywise the Clown

I have a thing about clowns

scarey little buggers

I found it on IMDB, Matt. Though you have to realize whatever is in production there has a 50/50 chance of getting made.

And I'm actually thinking that a stage musical could work...I know that the "Happy Days" musical had Paul Williams writing the songs...maybe he has that up his sleeve...

I'm not giving you much to go on here, but there is this cheesy horror flick with an oriental woman who turns into a spider then sucks this guys insides out. What is the name of that movie! My brothers and I are dying to know, please help me find it.

Great one, "Killer Shrews" group of people stuck on an island with these shrews that have to eat their weight every so many hours. They were German Shephards with big ears pinned on. One of the worst of the "mutant" movies from the 50's. Might have been called "Attack of the Killer Shrews".
