If Mad Men producers screw up and don't submit the PERFECT sample episode to Emmy judges, it won't be nominated for best drama series. The LA Times says they're blowing it by submitting the finale episode 'The Wheel' instead of the one that could nab them the nom -- the pilot ("Smoke Gets in Your Eyes"). Do you agree? Read more about this plus Jon Hamm's episode -- plus vote in the poll!

Black bow-ties, white shirts, and all in tonight's flashbacks in New Amsterdam... I half expected to see Don walking down the street...
A big congratulations goes out to Alan Taylor, who won the Directors Guild award for the premiere episode "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes." In the pilot, he created a look that carried all the way through the first season. That's no small feat.
The Screen Actors Guild awards didn't go as well for the boys on Madison Avenue, though. Jon Hamm, who won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Television Drama, lost out this time to James Gandolfini for The Sopranos, a show which also won the ensemble cast award. Was it nostalgia? Did Mad Men get robbed? Will the AMC series end up on top again at the Writers Guild awards on February 9? Let us know what you think.
Now that the Golden Globes--as they were--have come and gone, leaving Mad Men flush with both Best Drama and Best Actor awards, it's time to turn our attention to the Directors Guild of America awards on Saturday, January 26 and the Screen Actors Guild awards on Sunday, January 27.
Alan Taylor, who directed the Mad Men pilot, steps up against the likes of The Sopranos' David Chase and Lost's Jack Bender for the Outstanding Directorial Achievement in a Dramatic Series. What do you think his chances will be of toppling television's heavy hitters?
