Mad Men TV Series
Will there be a season 4 ?
When will it Start
Season 4
When oh when will it begin?
Mad Men Series 4
When does the next series 4 begin.
music from Season 2: e1
does anyone know what the music is that played at the end of Season 2: episode 1? (For Those Who Think Young). I wish they'd list the ending music for each episode on the web site. Each one is so compelling and seems to be related to the story line. My local library is my hero for stocking all the Mad Men episodes! It's great to watch with FF, REW and PAUSE.
Don Draper's green battery operated pencil sharpener
Hi has anyone got clue to the manufacturer of Don Draper's green battery operated pencil sharpener. I have been searching but it is very elusive I can't find anything about it. I have always liked clear green items it must be a childhood thing. If anyone has one and wants to sell it let me know. It would make my Christmas.
Scuzz
Music at end of E13
I have been familiar with all of the music featured at the end of each episode, but I must admit, I have never heard the tune played at season three's end. Can someone tell me the artist and the name of the song? It has haunting lyrics.
British Tea Cup Pattern
Does anyone know the name of the tea cup pattern the British guy is using on the show?
Opening title sequence - Which ads are used?
I'd like to know which ads are used in the title sequence. Especially the girl on the far right when the sequence displays rich summers, has my interest. The person who finds out which ad that is, is a hero! :)
Intro Music to Season 3 Episodes
Does anyone know what the episode recap music is to all Season 3 episodes? - It is the music playing during the "Previously on Mad Men" episode recap which goes for precisely 30 seconds, just before RJD2's A Beautiful Mine kicks in. It is a simple piano melody accompanied by a slow bass.
New Mad Men Addict
I've recently begin to watch Mad Men, starting with Season 1 Episode 1 and I've been sucked in completely. I find myself constantly analyzing how people in the 60's would react to our ways of doing business and living. I seem to be more of a fan of that period but only on a styling basis. This shoe is provocative and makes you think and analyze how things change over time. On that note i really want to know what kind of watch Don Draper wears. I am a big watch fan and i must have this watch. Help Please!
Keep it going
I hear there is debate as to whether Mad Men will continue for another season? How do we know if this is true? Fingers crossed for more.
Roger's daughter
Was there a change in the actress who played Roger's recently married daughter?
Standard non-compete clause in contracts. How did they start own firm?
Hey, over at twitter @MadMenExaminer, I've been getting tweets about legality of their starting a competing firm. @jjensenRF noted: "When Don Draper signed his contract, a standard clause was a covenant not to compete. How does that work with new firm?
Wondered if firing negated it, but he said "Firing should explicitly be included in the provision. Esp. in early 60s. Mystified me."
I realize nowadays celebs have non-disclosures with hired help (when fired) but usually it is connected with severance pay.
Anyone have any knowledge of these 1960s ad contracts?
End title songs
I'm always impressed with the choice of song for the end credits......last nite,E13, what was the song?
Musical theme for Suzanne Farrell
What is the name of, and where can I download, the gorgeous piano leitmotif/theme that plays when Suzanne Farrell appears in an episode?
Prices in 1963
Does anyone know the price of a martini in 1963?
What brand hat does Don wear?
Dobbs or Knox? Mad Men is happening at the time the men's hat business started a quick death.
Drapers' Address in Ossining?
I was driving through Ossining the other day and suddenly wondered if the address that was printed on Don's contract in "Seven Twenty-three" was an actual address. Could someone possibly freeze frame the scene in which he's signing to see what the address is? Unfortunately I deleted that episode already. Thanks so much!!
music, season 2 hall of the mountain king
there is a country song at the end of the Hall of the Mountain King episode. I have the CD sound track and the song is not on it. I would like to know who the artist is, what the song is, etc. Anybody know?
Ossining
What was the reason for setting Drapers' home in Ossining? Even in 1960, a top gun at a big Madison Avenue agency would most likely have lived in Greenwich, Montclair, Bedford, the East Side, Chappequa, Darien, Rye, Far Hills, the North Shore or somewhere like that. Particularly if his wife had been a status-conscious Bryn Mawr girl who grew up on the Main Line.
1604 East Stanton Place, Long Beach
That's the address on the deed for Don and Anna. Stanton Place runs north andsouth, but there IS a 1604 and it's not far from me. I want to drive over there and see. Wonder why it's Long Beach and not San Pedro?
How Realisitc is a Steam Logo Pulling Commuter Cars in 1963?
Are there any New York Central historians out there who can comment on how realistic it is to have a steam loco pulling commuter cars from Ossining to Briarcliff Manor in 1963? I'm a Pennsy fan, and am pretty sure steam had been LONG gone from the eastern main lines by the start of the 60's. Anyone?
Season 1, Episode 4: "New Amsterdam"
When Tracy and Pete Campbell are touring their new apartment with her parents (after they agreed to help with the down payment) and the realtor, who makes/where can I find a coat/jacket similar to Tracy Campbell's? It' pink and navy and adorable!
Hang out?
Did anyone else hear the expression "hang out" in (I think) the second episode? I don't think we used that as a verb in the 60's?
Dancing the Charleston?
Where and when would Pete and Trudy learn to do the Charleston? Was it typical for kids from their strata of society to learn it in dance class? Would they know it because it was a standard of dances at such clubs? Or did they learn it special for this occassion?
They certainly were darn good at it. Show-offs who proved to us that they were born to and belonged to this club, unlike the others who had climbed the ladder on up in order to be invited into the club.
When did American women start taking The Pill?
I understand that the oral birth control pill first became available to women in 1963.
Peggy decides to have a one-night stand with the young student from that Brooklyn corner bar. She asks him if he has a Trojan... He doesn't. They end up "doing other things".
When would young single urban women like Peggy obtain a Rx for The Pill?
Was there some initial shame or embarrassment about getting on The Pill in those days? I'm guessing plenty of women feared possible negative side-effects.
Which MAD MEN female do you suppose would've gotten on The Pill the earliest, do you reckon?
Has Mad Men Jumped the Shark?
I know Peggy's little Birdie song was supposed to be a poignant moment -- but it was all I could do to keep from bursting out laughing. Note to producers: yeah, we know she's a Broadway actress in real life, but note she's not in a musical. C'mon Matt, didn't you learn anything from the Sopranos and Uncle Junior's song debacle?
Other than this one gaffe the show continues to be excellent, so maybe we're not in Fonz territory just yet. Let's just hope we don't get any more unpleasant surprises.
How can I rent my collection of 60s-70s formal wear ?
I have a collection of vintage clothing and I don't want to give them away. They are mostly sizes 6-10. some mens dinner jackets. I thought I might be able to rent them for TV /movie studios.
Language slip?
Was it just me or did Don slip back into Dick (or even Archie) Whitman-speak when he referred to Betty's father as a "sumbitch" - at least I think that's what I heard. They were in the car after dinner, Betty telling him there was a problem with her dad and Don asks "you mean other than he's a sumbitch?" Folks with captioning or better ears - please clarify. It just sounded less like Don and more like something Archie'd say.
Parker Home in New Brunswick
Was Parker Home portrayed in positive light in last night episode?
Superstitions
In one office scene from Love Among the Ruins, Joan had removed her wedding ring and suspended it by a thread over Betty's belly to predict the sex of her baby. There was no amnio testing or sonic imaging at that time, so there were many supersitions that tried to help women predict the sex of their baby.
Using this method, after holding the thread very still, if it swung back and forth like a pendulum, it was a boy. If the ring swung around in a circle, the prediction was that the baby was a girl.
I remember other superstitions that were based on whether you had lots of gas(belching), if a dark line appeared on your belly, or simply relying on the 'expertise of a midwife or elder family member.
Did you recognize what they were doing? Can you think of other superstitions that surrounded pregnancies and childbirth 'back in the day?' If someone tried one of these superstitions on you, was the prediction right?
Love Among the Ruins?
I have been thinking about the title of this week's episode. Who/what are they referring to? Here is my short list:
1. The love between Roger and his new bride, and Margaret and her groom amidst the ruins of Roger and Mona and the ruins of SC.
2. The "ruins" of NY, e.g. Penn Station and the ruins of ancient Greece and Rome. Roger's new wife just returned from Greece, no?
3. The love Betty has for her father, even though he is quickly turning into a "ruin" himself.
4.The love Peggy is trying hard to find amidst the "ruins" of her failed affair and child with Pete.
If things don't turn around quickly, SC will be nothing but ruins.
Any other insights?
is there a live chat for mad men
just wondering of one exists anywhere
Pryce's wife Rebecca
Is that Embeth Davidtz playing Rebecca? She's not listed on AMC or on the IMDB site...just wondering.
Schedule and OnDemand Complaints
First, if this were HBO or Showtime, we would get to see Mad Men episodes many, many times during the week at reasonable viewing hours. Instead, the show airs on Sunday and after that good luck . I must be electronically deprived because I don't have a TIVO or any way to record the show at this point. Also, I can't get the latest episode On Demand....Season 2 is still running on that, but how about the latest episode in the brand new season? This is up to AMC, not the cable company. Anybody else wondering about this for the billionth time?
Patio Diet Cola and Polaroids are 'three bucks a piece"?
I recall my mom buying Patio Diet Cola and seeing it in our refrigerator. She drank it (and was slim but always thought she was 'fat'. She let me taste it and I recall a metallic carbonated taste which was unpleasant. Why was Don getting on Betty's case regarding Carla, Melba Toast and some polaroids? Anyone with insight? Is she redecorating a room for the infant girl. I DO think Betty's father bears a striking resemblance to John McCain - physically AND emotionally!
Is the hookers trick Don's Dad?
In reading the hilarious ADT website, Don makes this confession -
Don: My mom died in childbirth like yours. Only mine as a prostitute. They found my father and gave me to him and his wife. He died when I was 10. He was a drunk who got kicked by a horse. So she took up with some other man. I was raised by those two sorry people.
Looks like Don told Rachel that whoever birthed the baby "found his dad" and gave Don to him. This makes me believe, like I thought, that the john was Don's dad.
Thoughts?
Don Juan - Always a Cheater?
This might be a naïve question, but do people think that Don will always be a philanderer or will he be able to clean up his act someday? Don has had many affairs over the years, yet wishes to stay married to Betty and has attempted to be faithful to her at times (beginning of season 2). Is he capable of fidelity, or is he always going to fall to temptation when a skirt comes his way?
In a related topic, how does Don's infidelity affect your opinion of him? Do you love him just as he is or do you wish he'd fix his ways? Will you stop watching the show if he stops/doesn't stop the affairs?
Preview of Next Episode
At the end of each week's episode, a short preview is played of scenes from the next week's show. On the AMC Mad Men site, there is a "sneak peek" of an actual scene from the next episode, but the preview is not shown. Is there anywhere that preview can be viewed again? There was a short scene in it that I would like to look at again. Just wondering.
Why no sports talk in MM world???
haven't seen this brought up anywhere, so perhaps people have insights here. it seems really strange to me that in the male dominated world of MM, there is absolutely NO TALK OF SPORTS... perhaps my memory is failing me, but i don't ever remember a single conversation of any sport or sports figure in any episode. was sports that unpopular back then?
Do the MM menfolk sport expensive suits?
I'm wondering... Do the menfolk on the SC/PPL floor sport suits which were expensive by 1963 standards? Would all these men buy American? Or venture into English and Italian suits? Is there a "pecking order" you perceive in the clothing all the men wear..?. ie., is Ken's suit as expensive as Roger's? How much would these guys have expected to pay for these suits (and hats) in 1963?
Pantyhose
While watching Season 2 episode about Playtex account with a character pulling on the pantyhose, I was trying to recall if pantyhose were around in 1962. Can anyone enlighten?
Season 2 - how can I see it?
I just became a Mad Men addict by watching Season 1 on DVD! I'm dying to see Season 2!! I will buy it on DVD in July, but I can't possibly wait that long to see what happens next! Does anyone have the season on Videocassette of DVR that would make a deal with me? I need your help!! Thanks.
Next Mad Men?
Help; Do you know if Mad Men will be this year; or when. I cannot find a schedule; or, is it over.
Reruns of Season 2
I discovered Mad men late! Finished watching Season 1 on dvd. Does anyone know when AMC plans to air Season 2 reruns? Thanks!
When will Mad Men be filming again for season 3?
How long do they film for on a new season?, where can we get behind the stage info?, like location, and audience possible participation.
Don's Pajamas???
My husband is asking for Don Draper's pajamas for his birthday! Anyone out there have any idea where I might find them???
Season II - air again or available on DVD
Does anyone know if Season II is scheduled to air again on AMC (I couldn't find it anywhere on this site) and/or when the DVD for Season II is scheduled to be released?
Mad Men 2009 Calendar Coming Back?
There was a MM 2009 calendar for sale on the AMC store that is not there anymore. I had ordered it from Borders.com to take advantage of a discount and they haven't fulfilled my order yet. Anyone know what happened to the calendar and if it will be available again?
Characters' Ages
Haven't really seen a thread for this topic, so decided to start one. How old do you think all the characters are (besides those who have already mentioned their actual ages in the series)?
Will AMC air season 2 again?
Just wondering if anyone knows when and if season 2 will be reaired?
Season 3
Has the air date for season 3 been announced yet?
Fraternity Alpha Delta Phi
One of the characters was in the fraternity Alph Delta Phi.... why did you use this fraternity.... was someone from the writing staff in alpha delta phi?
Email for Matt Weiner
I wish to write to Matt Weiner and would like an email address for either Mr. Weiner or the Mad Men producers. I wrote to the AMC email and have heard nothing, thus far.
Children of the 50'S and 60'S- T.V. Then vs. T.V. Now
If you were a child during the 50'S and 60'S was TV better then or is it better today. Do the shows you remember as a child STILL hold up. When looking at them with adult eyes compared to having a childs eye view of shows. Do you still love the shows you loved then or has it changed.
looking for a quote
When Draper sees Peggy in hospital after the baby was born, he says something like "you'll be surprised how this never even happened." Can someone give me the exact quote?
Authentic Artifacts of the 60's
I understand the producers of the show are always seeking genuine household items from the time period. I have a fine blond oak cigarette box with a cork liner. It would look perfect on a coffee table. What is the email address of the producer?
Season 2 Episodes Re-view Options
As someone new to the Men, I would love to see all the episodes of season 2. Does anyone know if AMC will be replaying them pior to season 3? Or am I doomed to wait for the Season 2 DVD set due in July?
Or is anyone aware of any other options? Thanks, George.
Help me Find the music track
I'm tryting to find information on a song that played during Season 1 Episode 8 'The Hobo Code' and it's not listed on this website. The track is playing during the beatnik scene in the middle of the episode in which Don is lying down with Midge and Roy, and Midge asks Don "Do you Like it?" to which he responds with the line about Dorothy and colours. The song is very mellow with what sounds like a Spanish guitar.
The official song listing says it is Miles Davis' Concierto de Aranjuez but that was the song playing immediately previous, and the only other two listed songs are certainly not jazz tracks. I listened through Miles Davis' entire 'Sketches of Spain' album, of which Concierto belongs, and did not hear it.
So does anyone know the name of the track the artist?
Does anyone know if Times Warner has dropped Mad Men?
I have been trying to find the second season of Mad Men. Times Warner was showing it but seems to have stopped and I can't even find it on demand.
Thanks,
Lin
Mad Men audience survey
Hello, my fellow Mad Men-obsessives!
I hope this isn't against any rules for the forum. I'm working on a paper for school about Mad Men, and I would like to get some data on audience reception. I wonder if as many of you as possible might take a few minutes to fill out my survey below.
mad men
why hasn't mad men been on for a few week
Jon Hamm in Providence
Hi everyone
I used to watch Providence all the time, but I do not exactly remember Jon. Who did he play & what season was he in.
Thanks
Does anyone know when exactly Season 3 is starting??
I honestly wish it was on once a week ALL YEAR ROUND. Wouldn't that be fantastic?? :) This having to wait actually stirs up a little bit of heartache ;( ...
Ok, when does the Mad Men Memorabilia start??
I'd really love to have and see some Mad Men bumper stickers, sweatshirts, posters, mugs...etc.... I already received the hat (thank you so much by the way), but let's get a little crazy!!! I know the fans will love the idea!!!!
Book CLub
I can't find the post on the book club planned for the winter based on books featured on the Show (Mad Men, what other show is there?)
Man Men Show off the air?

Betty and Glenn
Why? I get the whole mommy thing and how Betty has to be the "grown up" but get rid of this little freak before he hurts someone! Looks like a serial killler anyway...
Other Subjects!
I thought this would be a good place for those who need to ask any of the posters a question and don't want to bother the readers of the open thread or special categories!
Patrick Kehoe:
I don't know how you did it, but there is another old song that I have tried to locate and cannot. It is by a very young Tony Bennett entitled "Someone Turned The World Upside Down" ('54?) . If you will tell me your procedure, I'll be happy to search it myself. Many thanks! Sandy
Repeats of Season 2?
Does anyone know if AMC is going to show the Season 2 episodes again soon? With so many people just catching on to the show now, it seems it would be foolish of AMC to make people wait until the marathon they will probably show just before Season 3. If people are really into it now, how can they be expected to wait 9 or 10 months before seeing Season 2 again?
Priest character
Is he Catholic or Episcopalian? In the 1960s he would have worn a preaching stole over his cassock and surplice while giving his sermon. Also I didn't notice any holy water stoops in the vestibule or stations of the cross in the nave. These missing items make me wonder if he is a protestant minister? Any ideas or this a big oversight on the set dressers part?
Mad Men contest winner
Hi Maddicts!
Has anyone heard anything about the MM contest winner (can't remember the guy's name), and what episode he will be in next Season?
JUST HOW FAR HAVE BLACKS COME SINCE 1962?
Sometimes I think how wonderful it is to live anywhere that I can afford, but what was the real price for that privilege? Does having the choice to live next door to Whites mean that I have "arrived?" Was the Black community as a whole sacrificed for that right?
Swason finale closing music
Does anyone know what the music is that comes on at the end of the Season 2 finale when Don is holding Betty's hand? It continues through the closing credits.
Why did Don and Betty (finally) reconcile?
Did Betty call Don back home because of his letter of admission or because of her pregnancy? What made Don 'man up' and come back home to confess after weeks of denials and hotel living? And what are the chances that it will last?
Why doesn't Pete drive?
Why doesn't Pete drive? It seems as though Trudy knows how to drive. Is it because he is the quitessential Manhattanite?
Season Finale Party - Did anyone go?
The Basket of Kisses girls hosted a party last night. Did anyone go to it? If so, please fill us in!
Fishermen sweater pattern
Does anyone know where I can get a pattern for the fabulous fishermans sweater worn by one of the two men who interviewed for jobs at the advertising agency. I think it was the most attractive pattern I have seen. I have not been able to get it off my mind. thanks
Why is the storyline of Peggy's baby so hard for some people to understand?
I've been biting my tongue all season as I read comments about Peggy's baby. Peggy had a baby--Pete's baby--and gave it up for adoption. That's it. Why is that so hard? I keep reading things like, "Wait? What happened to the baby she gave her sister?" and "Her sister was pregnant. What happened to THAT baby?" Huh?? Her sister had her own baby and kept it. Why wouldn't she? Peggy had a baby and gave it up for adoption to a random family. It's not rocket science. Sorry if I sound mean, but I just don't think every storyline on this show has to have some secret twist. This one seems pretty straightforward, especially after Peggy's confession last night to Pete.
Season 3?
There will be a Season 3, right? What else do I have to look forward to on a Sunday night?!
What did Mr Cooper say to his sister about her stockings?
when she came into the office??
"Lookism: the only "ism" that has grown, rather than lessened since the 60's
Ever notice that not all the secretaries at SC are "lookers" in the Joan/Jane league? Betcha' you walk into a MAD AD Firm today, and you'd find percentages would be reversed --with the overwhelming majority of secretaries being movie-star pretty, and a few fewer number being average to plain. Why is this? Why were the 60's less beauty obsessed?
Why did Betty want Don on her parents floor that night?
And not want him to move back in....
What is the significane in the writers' having Anna be lame?
Is her lameness a plot device to explain away her apparent lack of emotion over the loss of her husband--as in "...he wanted my sister"...but got me instead?
Is it meant to show that she's resigned to being the "left over" choice, and thus has "reduced expectations" from life?
Where did Don meet Betty?
Episode 12 was fantastic! The true grit of the show is really evident. The flash backs were amazing. I only have one problem. In a prior episode Betty said that Don worked writing copy for a fur company. In this episode, while he was in California in 1951 he said to his 'wife' that he's met Betty a model. Should I assume that Don traveled back to California to have Christmas with Anna? I guess I have trouble thinking of Don as a California Boy. The ending scene was great; I can't wait to see who comes out of the waves. I am concerned about Peggy, I hope she is not having a drinking issue. She really was dark and brooding in episode 12, but she is still my favorite character.
Don/Dick
Why did Dick assume the life of Don Draper
Tarot Reading for Don
Did anyone catch what the other cards were in the layout and where they were? It might be a clue of what is to come?
Love your show
sometimes the "back and forth" story especially regarding Don Draper gets a little confusing. Was he actually legally married to the "real" Mrs. Draper. Did they ever mention it?
In episode #12
What was the closing song and singer? It was bluegrass and i loved it. To the show producers, please statr giving credits at the end for the songs....?
Anyone else unable to record AMC?
Was unable to record AMC Comcast Stockton Ca channel 62 now all the time getting protected errors on the DVD recorder. Anyone else having these kinds of problems?
Heisman Trophy in Pete's Office?
In season one on the credenza behind Pete's desk appears to be a Heisman Trophy. Is this ever addressed? Pete doesn't seem like the football type. Maybe to bet on games but not to play. :-) Thanks!
Mad Men Facebook application?
Has anyone received permission to develop a "Which Mad Men character are you?" application on Facebook?
What the hell just happened?
OK, this episode has some serious shit going on, and I can't figure it out. I found the 'nomads' boring as hell, but I don't want that to get in the way of understanding what just transpired. Clearly this episode brings us a few steps closer to understanding the fractured heart/mind of Don Draper/Dick Whitman. The writers clearly enjoy heaping on the allusions, and this one seemed to put all of their liberal arts degrees to work: Direct or indirect echoes of Kubrick, Faulkner, Nabokov, Lewis Carroll, David Lynch, Raymond Chandler, Homer and Fellini. But to what end?
Can anybody explain this to me?
I'm not a business person, so I don't quite get what Duck is trying to do to Sterling Cooper. I understand that he is trying to get his old company, the English guys, to buy 51% of the stock at a bargain price because Roger is in a bind because of his pending divorce. That part is easy. But what is the deal Duck is offering Roger and Bert? Why would they want to lose a controlling interest in their company? And, having alerted the English guys to the situation, why would they need Duck as president? They could just go ahead and buy it up, his place would not be assured at all.
Don,s hat,what does he wear?
OK, I joined this site just to figure out what kind of fedora Don wears - specifically- what brand etc . I love the look but am not sure I see a stetson that quite looks like the one the character wears in the show. Someone from AMC chimed in and told us what kind of watch Don wore can you help out with the hat?
Thanks
Dan
Pete's Mom Wants to Know where DON is?
Why was Peter Dyckman Campbell's mater asking where Mr. Draper was? I thought this peculiar or am I confused about the previews? It looks like the snooty Mrs. Campbell, resplendent in her Miss Faversham finery, is asking Roger about Don's whereabouts. Does Roger actually say aloud that Don has taken some time off and is sorting out some marital problems ? I know the previews are never what they seem. Just a strange question from her of all people. Do they know one another?
Wasn't Joan married to the Doctor?
In the 2nd Season the episode where Joan is reading the scripts for the Movie Department, wasn't she married to the Doctor? She was so upset that she had been reading the scripts and now someone else was going to do it for pay. I don't think that the pay bothered her as much as her enjoyment of it and meeting with the clients. What has happened to her room mate?
Set pieces!
Does anyone know of a blog or other resource that tracks the furniture and set pieces on Mad Men? I know there are many other mid-century modern obsessives like me out there and am wondering if anyone tracks down and identifies some of the stuff Amy Wells finds.
Does Mad Men appeal to older viewers (over 40) or are there Maddicts under 30 also?
I'd like to know if there are any Maddicts out there under the age of 30 or are most Maddicts in the over 40 crowd? I'm asking because I am in my late 50's and watch with my daughter (24). Of course, being from different generations, we also have different views on the show. Anyone out there under 30?
closed captioning on mad men
what happened to the closed captioning on mad men. I can no longer enjoy this program as I and a group of my friends have a hearing loss. Please help.
comment from open thread
the open thread is so long I thought this would get lost.
MadMenSuze wrote this and I'm wondering what the question even means. Was there a Miss Basushka or are you calling one of the player's that because of accent or dress??? Maybe I need to watch again
Now...who is Miss Babushka and what does this mean
Season 2 Finale
When is the finale for season 2? I'm trying to schedule a party, but can't get confirmation of the last episode. Epguides.com shows 10/19's episode 2-12 as the last listed, but it doesn't seem like a finale.
Pete
why does pete campbell think that he saw the "count" in Newport?
Don's secret Bank account?
Has Dick/Don ever shown behavior relating to secret money? Revolving credit as we know it today did not start until the mid 60s but maybe Don/Dick has a stash some of you may know about? He's going back to S/C we can be sure of that - but where is his geldt coming from? Does he carry THAT much $$ on him? I'm puzzled about his finances and how he transacts 'business'.
What was in the syringe?
Any thoughts on what the 'doctor' was about to inject into Dick/Don? If it was indeed a 'heat' stroke" and this guy was truly a doc, they would hopefully have begun gently cooling him. If his blood pressure had dropped, precipitously (dehydration or lest we forget, the Reserpine he's been prescribed) then perhaps some epinephreine? There was no sign of a blood pressure cuff, stethoscope OR thermometer. Did I see the medication come directly from a vial? I'll have to watch this again. I didn't see signs of his drink having been tampered with but could easily have missed it. Regardless, - the man needs some fluids!
"Dick Whitman"?
I'm dying toknow why in the end of lastnights ep he calls someone and says "Its Dick whitmanæHas he been leading a double life all along? a spy maybe? Any thoughts?
Duck's contacts
Duck met with some old British colleagues, who I gather work for the agency he left before coming to Sterling Cooper. His proposal to them is to help them buy a chunk of Sterling Cooper to establish a US presence. But I thought Duck came from the London office of Young and Rubicam (Y&R), a real-life global agency that already had - and still has to this day - its headquarters literally on Madison Avenue.
On a side note, perhaps alcohol to Duck is like spinach to Popeye. He has seemed rather ineffective at his job when he was clean, but a glass of the good stuff and now he's a sharp minded player.
1963 Mercedes 230SL Pagoda
The car Don was taken to Palm Springs in was the Mercedes 230SL and was introduced in March of 1963 in Geneva and produced started in July of that year. What month and year is the show in now.
Kinsey report
It occured to me today (while on a hay ride LOL!) that it's odd to have a character named "Kinsey." The infamous Kinsey report came out in 1948. Is it possible that our Kinsey could be related?
mad men music
do anyone know this song played in the season 2 promo?

Can someone please tell me how to download a pic for my avatar? In "edit profile" I click on browse to choose the picture I want , then click "open" and then I click save but the picture never shows :(
If someone has explained this before, sorry I missed it.
I need help from the Maddicts!
Long time listener, first time caller, so please be gentle on this noob. I've searched these and other blogs/forums and I can't seem to find anything on the reversed scene in "A Night to Remember." Right after Harry Crane gets in trouble for the "agitator", he goes out to the conference table. He asks his coworkers for help in reading the scripts. Sitting there is Paul, Ken and Sal. They sort of chit chat but offer no help. Then for a few seconds the scene is reversed, this is not a continuity issue (ie glass is now full when it was previously empty) This is a full on reversed scene, the reception area is on the right when it is usually on the left. The people at the table are in a mirror image of where they were 2 seconds earlier, then it goes back to normal. I thought I was watching LOST for a moment. As a matter of fact in the moment of the reversal, no characters speak, but Harry does look around the table helplessly confused. This show is so densely packed with meaning and symbolism, could it be Harry is so confused he can't see straight? Am I projecting my own confusion? Someone please tell me you also noticed this before I spend all day in my party dress and accidentally step on a broken wine glass! HELP!
Nobody wants to talk about the contest?:)
Let me tell you, I was amazed at the creativity and ingenuity of pretty much everybody who entered.
And it was tough to do. It was a one minute selection of dialogue - I think I went through 25 or 30 takes before I decided my bit would do for submission.
Did anybody else of the Maddicts do the contest? Just curious...
missed season 2!
does anyone know if they will be re-airing season 2 from the beginning on amc? i just finished season 1 on DVD and realized i get the show with basic cable!
Why the Half Season
Why does Mad Men only produce half a season's worth of shows? I caught up with season 1 a few weeks ago and realized that there are only 13 episodes in each season.
For a show that I've come to really love, that is such a disappointment.
How long before season 3 starts? Is there a chance that as the show gains popularity, it'll go from 13 episodes per season to a full 24 episodes?
Roger Sterling's Wall Sculpture???
I keep on seeing it almost every week, in Roger sterling's office, right beside his wet bar, on the wall in the corner there is this metal modern wall sculpture. I've checked ebay, and some others sites, but to no such luck. Does anyone know where I might find one? I think it looks amazing.
Season One Episode One (Trivia)
We can't figure out what Midge says to Don after he says the kid comes by the office looking for a place to put plants.
Does anyone know?
music
Does anyone know the name of the musical piece playing at the end of Episode 10? You know, when Pete and Don were on the plane...and Don was wistfully looking out the window?
Loose ends!
I try to be tidy, so all these loose ends are making me nutz! In an effort to organize them, I want to just list them but I need your help cause there are SO many!
1. Big closeup of the mechanic's handprints on Betty's car, why?
2. What happened to Chauncey?
3. Was there some plot reason for the blood drive?
4. What was the significance of the pink elephant at Pete's mother's house?
5. Is Roger's call girl Vicky part of the ongoing plot? Ditto Betty's old roommate, Juanita?
6.Why was there so much about the switchboard operator (later to be Don's secretary for a short time) having a crush on Sal? That went nowhere.
I'm sure you have some loose threads of your own to sew up?
Need a quote!
Don Draper says in an episode something about if you put the word "new" in front of something people will buy it. Does anyone know that exact quote or a clip of it would even be better!!!! THANKS!!!
Previews
where do we see the upcomming previews?
watching full episodes
Can you watch Last weeks episode on this web address?
Roger, Don and Marilyn (?) at the Bar
I just re-watched 'Six Month Leave,' in part because of Greytone's excellent post pointing out the lonesome train whistle blowing in the scene between Don and Betty. It's so crystal clear! Thanks again for pointing this out, Greytone.
Upon second viewing, I think the scene between Roger and Don at the bar is the most important in this episode and among the most important this season. Taking a cue from Greytone to observe the noise and backdrop, it's a really rich scene. I can't piece it all together, so I'm seeking a little help here.
Mr. Cooper's Secretary
I cannot remember if Bert Cooper's secretary has ever made an appearance. I know they mentioned her when Jane and the boys snuck into his office to view the Rothko. I think it would be appropriate for her to be a much older woman - late 50s, even early 60s - and maybe to have had an affair with Bert Cooper back in the day when he was just starting out with Roger Sterling's father to build the business. When I first went to work back in the early 60s there were lots of older women in the office - ones who had been around and knew all the gossip about everyone. Sterling Cooper should have at least one old gal still hanging around. Maybe she could be the one who mentored Joan and helped guide her to the position she now has.
All Liquored Up
One thing I have been wondering about is the amount of booze available at Sterling Cooper. It seems anyone with an office has a tray with bottles and glasses all set up. Would SC just provide liquor for all the professional staff? Would anyone keep track of how much is used up in a month? I have mentioned before that I think Duck is secretly going to the other offices and drinking - most likely the junior members' offices - as he was doing the night he betrayed Chauncey (sob). I don't think he would go into the top level offices because he would not want Roger to wonder why his liquor is disappearing so fast. I will be watching to see if Peggy keeps Freddie's liquor supply when she moves into his office. I don't think I have seen her imbibing at the office like the men do. I do not remember liquor being available in the office back then when I started working. The only time that I can recall was one Christmas when my boss received an expensive bottle of Scotch from a vendor. On his way out of the office he dropped it on the tiled floor and the bottle shattered. I don't know who was more upset, my boss or the janitor who swept up the mess!
Dick Whitman's REAL AGE
What is Dick Whitman's (aka Don Draper) real age? We saw him at the doctor a while back and he was 36 as Don, however the real Dick is younger, I think, no? We know he is back from Korea and selling cars in 1952. He was probably drafted and in the 18-20 year range in 1950. We also know he is a depression era kid from the Hobo Code flash back.
Perfumes from the 60's
I very much miss some of the colognes I wore in the 1960's and are now discontinued. Are any of you experiencing the same frustration?
AA/Rehab in 1960s?
It seems evident that Freddie has a drinking problem. They mentioned that he go out and get "dried out." But there never seemed to be any talk of Freddie trying to recover or overcome his alcoholism.
I kept thinking that Duck would go to him and offer some help (like take him to a meeting or offer to be a sponsor), but I guess it's evident that Duck isn't "in the program," or he would have openly offered help to Freddie. I know that AA was around in the 60s (it has been around since the 30s), but I guess there werent many rehab clinics back then. Betty Ford didn't even start until the 70s, obviously.
It would be interesting to see the how Duck handles his alcoholism as well. Just curious where one would go to dry out in the 60s? I
Names mentioned
At the gambling place, Freddie and Roger used funny phoney names, Don used Rachel's husband's name. Later Don mentioned Archibald Whitman, an old drunk he used to know. Where their other mentions like this that meant something if a person was paying attention?
Betty's Book?
Did ANYONE see the title of the book that Betty was reading on her couch? My eyesight (even while sitting too close to the TV) did not permit me to see the title. Was there some relevance to the book which any of you can share? Thanks in advance MM bloggers!
Blood Drive
What is the significance of the Blood Drive? I'm not sure if blood donations were tested for diseases in the 60's. What if Don tests positive for example (syphillis) and he has to tell Betty? P.S. I'm new to the Talk Forum. I've followed all of your posts for a while now and wanted to join the conversation. I love the show. My best friend and I compare notes about it each week.
Why is Episode 9 so heavily focused on Freddy Rumsen?
The title of this episode is "Six Month Leave", which we learn during the course of the show is the proposed drying out period for Freddy Rumsen. Watching this episode the first time, I wondered why it focused so heavily on Rumsen and the events surrounding his dismissal from SC. At the end, however, one can see that Rumsen's departure opens up new opportunities and responsibilities for Peggy and also that Pete's motives in exposing Rumsen were opportunistic and self-serving. Plus we gain insight into the other characters through their responses, such as Don's loyalty, Peggy's gratitude, and even Roger's admiration. Finally, losing his job at SC creates a loss of identity for Rumsen that is also experienced by Don and Betty because of their separation; this is especially true of Betty, who seems completely lost without her marriage. What aspects of this episode were most meaningful to you and why?
Betty's Bag
I love the bag Bets was carring at the horse barn....been looking for one just like for a long time. Does anyone know who makes it? I'd love to have one.....Thanks for any input.
Office sofas
Three times in this episode (3 times I remember at least) we saw characters lying down on the sofa in a closed office. Pete, Joan and Don Why?
Name on the shopping bag given to Don
Don's secretray handed him a shopping bag that had a name that seemed like J. Menkens or something close to that on it. I am pretty familiar with NYC in that period and the name does not ring a bell. Anyone know? Loved the freezer that was not self defrosting.
new viewer HELP
here's my dilemma. i'm late to mad men, however, i'm hooked after viewing season one on dvd. i don't particularly want to wait until season two is out on dvd and find viewing the sneak previews lacking. anyone know of a way to catch up, so next sunday i'll be up to date. thanks
Marathon Comments
Hello, fellow Maddicts -- are you all feeling as good as I am right now? I've "gone without" for 10 days and now am getting a feast! The only downer is the stupid hotels.com commercial.
In "The New Girl" is the cop who detains Don played by "Ross the Intern?" He looks SO familiar and I swear that's who it is.
The Joke's on Joan
Danny Lindstrom, the (new) Head of Broadcast Operations was telling a joke as Joan entered Harry's office.
"So, Turk doesn't know which way to turn he's so drunk. So finally, he stops. We get out of the car and the sign says, "Bridge Out." (laugh)
Is this a joke and I just don't know it? Does anyone know the whole story he was telling? Also, I read somewhere that Harry had hired his old college buddy. Is that stated somewhere (I've forgotten where I read it), or is the 'Turk' they are talking about the connection to college days?
Episode 9
Did episode 9 not air on Sunday? It didn' show up on my DVR. Was there a week off?
I missed the early episodes of Mad Men in the 1st season.
In which one does Peggy get birth control pills?
How Many More Episodes Left?
First of all, congrats to MADMEN for winning the Emmy!!! When I heard about it I was thrilled. I was disappointed that Jon Hamm didn't win, but hopefully he will next year.
So now that we know the show is appreciated by Hollywood, and will hopefully (most likely) be renewed for next season, how may shows are left for season 2? I couldn't remember if there were 10 for season 2 or more. I'll be sad when the show ends for season 2 but I plan on buying the DVD's to keep me until they return for season 3.
Episode
Am I the only person who did not know that last night's episode would be a rerun?
repeat?
Hey why is there a repeat tonight...there was no mention of that?
Betty's little friend
I just finished watching the DVD version of Episode 4, season 1. Just wanted to know if the little kid Betty talks to in the car, the one that took the lock of her hair, happens to be the same kid, older now, that was in "A Perfect World", the one that played "Phillip"?? Anyone?
On Demand - Episode 8
Does anyone know why the cable companies haven't put Episode 8 On Demand yet? They're not running it tomorrow night. I have Charter Cable and they haven't put it up yet. Charter is very poor at communication so I I'm asking here to see if this is the case everywhere and if so, why.
What happened to the African-American Girlfriend?
I would love to see that story line developed, or at least give one of the Black characters a meatier roll. There was alot of interacial hanky-panky going on back then, I grew up and played with the children of an interracial couple that lived next door. Besides Dons sleeping with every body else what difference would it make? How about Betty's maid? she was pretty. What if Don came in from the office one day and Betty wasn't home, and he just took him "some" from the maid........ when you cast this part my ph # is 555-1234
If you could ask Matthew Weiner one question:
Do you know how Don Draper's story will end?
Episode 9 - preview
Several people mentioned in the forum that there are previews Don thinking about Rachel. Where did you see them, I checked the videos and there's only one about Roger, Don, etc going to a gambling place. Any help????
Don's Assumed Identity
On another thread a blogger said that Don D. had told Rachel of his assumed identity. I am assuming this would have happened in Season 1, if true. Did he tell Rachel this? If so, I am surprised he would take the chance. They did not part on the best of terms and I would think he would not like knowing there was someone out there besides Pete and Cooper who knew his secret. Also, do we know if Cooper mentioned Don's identity theft to Roger?
where do you find out about the prizes for posts?
I saw it once and don't know where it is now or how they decide who wins something. Can anybody help?
The Actors' Interpretation of the Characters
As I have mentioned before, I have not seen all of Season 1's episodes, so the characters are still unfolding for me. My question is, just how much do you think the actors knew initially about the characters they were chosen to play? Do you think Mr. Weiner had a clear picture in his mind regarding each character and how he/she would act and react as the story unfolds. For instance, did the actor portraying Sal know from the start that his character would be a closeted gay man? In the few scenes I have seen of Sal from Season 1 I did not immediately assume he was gay. Has Don's character development as major a cheat and liar come as a surprise to Jon Hamm as it has for the viewer? I guess I am asking how much did the actors know and when did they know it?
Help!
I am a little confused... how did Betty put 2 and 2 together when she saw the UTZ commercial and called Don to tell him not to come home.
The Day After?
My inquiring mind was wondering if anyone can tell me whether the "Night to Remember" episode began the day after the Jimmy Barrett party fiasco? I know when Betty got back from riding Don was still in bed, and I think he asked her jokingly if it was still Saturday. If it was the next day after she threw up in his car, wouldn't you think there would be some discussion of it - if only him asking how she was feeling? I couldn't get a sense of whether or not Betty had been stewing over Barrett's remarks for several days or if she was still shell shocked from the previous evening.
Why Won't Don Join the Country Club?
Duck asked Don when he will join the country club for the second time in the last episode. It's a status symbol that makes sense for a man of Don's position. Betty fits right in. What's the hesitation? And why hasn't Don learned to play golf? Lots of business was conducted on the golf course in those days, and probably still is. What gives?
no show on Sept 21??
I was on the Mad Men group on facebook and someone commented there will not be an episode on the 21st ... gasp ... say it isn't so please ...
Don's Past
I have not seen all of Season 1's episodes, so my question may have been explained previously. I am wondering just why Dick W. felt the need to steal Don Draper's identity. I know it was war time and Draper was dead and Dick wounded, but if Dick was seeking a way out of the war zone, his injuries would have taken care of that. Why could he not have just gone on as Dick W. and just ceased all contact with his family, if he hated them so much? Has anything been said about his past life prior to that moment of switching dog tags, other than his miserable childhood, that would explain why he felt the need to kill off Dick W. and become Donald Draper?
Behind The Scenes
Obviously a lot of hard work goes on in the research department of this show. The show covers everthing from product references , social changes , office dynamics , marketing revolutions...etc etc.... this show is a facinating find! Does anyone know how to actually contact the show? Maby we can convince the writers to share some of their research. It would make the viewing experience so much richer.
The Picnic
First of all, I love this show. It's as if I'm watching my childhood. The handsome flawed father. The dutiful wife. Ballet lessons etc. The scene that REALLY bothered me was the picnic scene. Everything was picture perfect, the pristine new Cadillac, making sure that the children were "clean" enough to get back into the car - but.....these imacculate people just shook out their picnic blanket and left all of their garbage just laying on the ground! What the heck was that all about! And the director made sure that the trash stayed in the shot....what the?
the irish setter
whatever happened to that irish setter that was released?
Joan's Shoulder
Why was there a welt on Joan's shoulder at the end of last night's episode? Was it from her bra strap?
Who is Mitch?
Harry has mentioned Mitch several times - it's not the guy sharing his office, his name is Warren. When Harry first gets his promotion in Roger's office (the Benefactor episode), Roger mentions that he knew what Harry had been up to (calling CBS), and Harry says "Mitch" like Seinfeld says "Kramer". Again, last night, he mentions Mitch. Was he in Season 1 somewhere?
Will episode 8 re-air sometime this week?
Those of us in Houston with no power did not get to see last night episode. Does anyone know if it will re-aire before next weeks episode 9?
Does anybody know....
Does anybody know the name of the song that plays in the background of "the truth about betty" ad? Its on this website...Who sings it?
Song at the the end credits of Episode 7 The Gold Violin
Does anyone know who sings the song ta the end credits of Episode 7. I thought ot was Lesley Gore, but can't find it on itunes. Help!!! Thanks
Who originally wrote 'Caravan'?
Hi all,
I know Gordon Jenkins did this version, but I heard it's a remake? Who did the first one? Also...anyone know if there's a good genre you could put this one under? That sorta music is great but I don't know where to look for more.
Did anyone think about this too?
The flashback where Don is selling used cars is set sometime in the 50's, maybe mid 50's. Current time is early 60's. When in the world did he start working at Sterling-Cooper and progress to where he is now in that short amount of time? Much to be said about this.
"Betsy" Question
In "For Those Who Think Young," Betty's former modeling friend clearly refers to her as "Betsy" Hofstadt. Was she ever called Betsy by anyone else? Just wondering...
Mad Men 1st Season DVDs
Has anyone seen these? I've heard that the commentary explains a lot about the motivations of the characters and Matt Weiner, but I haven't had a chance to find out if this was true.
Need help with Don's Korea timeline and flashback to the car dealership
When Don is selling cars, he mentions to the father and son that the current model year is 1950. He is already Don Draper in that scene. I don't know my Korean War history, but it appears that the Americans weren't involved on the ground until late 1950. The Korean War flashback shows Dick Whitman showing up where Don Draper had already been posted, and then Don spending time in the hospital, where he left as Don Draper, yet the car dealership scene seems to be well after he gets back from Korea as Don Draper. I'm confused - any suggestions?
What is the name of song playing a picnic EP 7
What is the name of song playing a picnic EP 7
"Like the song says, enjoy yourself, it's later than you think"
Never have truer words been spoken! I loved this coming out of Sterling's mouth in "The Gold Violin". What song is he referring to? I adore the character of Roger Sterling and can't get enough of him on screen. He truly is a silver fox. Very sexy. Brilliant acting by John Slattery.
I"m confused about Don Draper's history...
Evidently having come to Mad Men a season too late, last night's "previously seen on Mad Men" really threw me for a loop.
From what I'm piecing together, Don Draper assumed someone else's identity after, or during WWII - yes? Why? Whose? What should I know that I don't? That brief scene with him filthy, chopping off his hair left me extremely confused, followed by the flashback of him as a used car salesman...
Can someone kindly fill me in?
Sterling and Cooper
What exactly was the meeting about with Don Sterling and Cooper?
Okay, which member of the REAL Draper Family Found Don Selling Used Cars?
This episode was packed with amazing stuff--the Ken/Salvatore dynamic, the Joan/Jane dynamic and of course the hole that Jimmy Barrett put in Don and Betty's marriage. BUT the big thing, the really big thing in ep7 is: We're getting closer to finding out why Lt. Draper's family didn't turn Dick Whitman in--did it lead to his leaving that podunk and heading for NYC? Who is that woman in the used care lot? What has she come to say to Don? Your thoughts Madmaniacs ....
Episode 6 Maidenform
Who is Sara? Bobbie tells Don that she heard from Sara he was so good in bed. Who is she?
Episode 2, Season 2....question for fellow Catholics
Just watched this again, and I was shocked once more by how racist Joan is towards Kinsey's girlfriend Sheila. She is vile in her conversation with Kinsey in the office several days after Kinsey's party. ALSO: as a Catholic, it ocurred to me that Peggy stays seated for communion at the episode's end. This is a very public thing to do in church; one would perceive you as possibly a divorcee'. What would the other issues be where you would sit out communion? This leads me to believe that obviously she had a child out of wedlock and fellow parishoners would know this by sitting out communion? Thoughts?
What is Don's Role in Sterling Cooper ?
Last Season, Don was promoted to partner. Was this temporary until Roger came back ? And wasn't Duck supposed to come in as creative director ? What are their titles now ? It didn't seem clear to me in the new season.
Did Don and Betty ever discuss his affairs?
At the end of the first season, Betty confided to her therapist that she knew that Don had had affairs with other women. At the start of Season 2, it was never mentioned between them as far as I can tell. Did Don find out from the therapist what she knows?
i-Tunes
Has anyone had trouble buying last Sunday's episode via i-Tunes? It is now Tuesday and the message I am getting is it is now available in the "U.S. Store" at this time. What's up? I have bought each Season 2 episode up until now? Thanks for your response.
Weird giraffe art?
I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but I have to ask...what's with the weird "giraffe" art in Pete's apartment? It's a three piece artwork and the two ends look like giraffes facing in opposite directions. Between them is an image which looks like a fish-tail. I suppose it's the two of them merged?
There may be no answer to this question outside of the fact that it's some crazy, early 60's art. I've certainly seen art from that period that was like this and common in homes (what were they thinking?), but I have to ask...am I the only one seeing giraffes here? Is this part of the jungle/tiki mode in art popular during that time? Or do I need to start seeing Betty's psychatrist?
Point O Woods
Would this be the private beach community in South Lyme, CT?
La Notte
Has anyone confirmed that La Notte is, finally, the Film Don watches at the matinee? La Notte was translated into French, La Nuit, but are we sure (even though he mentioned La Notte in Episode 5) that this is "the" film we've been dying to ascertain?
Is the New Girl Jewish?
Jane Siegel...is she just a flash in the pan, or do we think this might open up a storyline about Jews in the ad biz or anti-semitism?
Read the Official Plot Summaries
Another viewer has pointed out that in the plot summaries it says that in the Three Sundays episode that as Peggy is leaving she sees three children in a room, including a blonde, blue eyed child who is with his cousins. Why are the writers pointing out the cousins plus details of the child's appearance? We all know about genetics but neither Pete nor Peggy have blonde hair and I'm not sure if either has blue eyes.
Also we were tricked about the Ossining location of Don & Betty's house. Isn't there a University in Stoney Brook? Did one of the writers go to school there or something?
Who is Burt (Berf?) Peterson
Pete mentioned that Duck called Burt Peterson a mongoloid. Who is Burt Peterson? Was is a mistake? Was he supposed to say "Cooper?" Was this a client?
Why the title "The New Girl"?
Considering Don's new secretary had about 6 minutes of screen time total, I'm wondering if the title wasn't suppose to be taken literally and had nothing to do with her at all.
Could the title be referring to Don's New girl, Bobbi? His old girlfriend showing up at the restaurant certainly saw it that way.
Or maybe the new girl is Peggy. The reveal through flashback of how she, like Don once did, transformed herself into "the person she wanted to be". Which would make Bobbi's philosophy about picking a job and just becoming that person very interesting. And her advice to Peggy about not trying to act like a man if she wants respect, but to be a woman? Ironic on oh so many levels.
And how she interprets that advice into not allowing Don to forget what she did for him, when he obviously had.
I guess I'll have to watch it again in full context when the season is complete.
EMERGENCY ROOMS?
When Bobbie burned his chin, Betty talked about sitting in the Emergency Room with two children, etc. Except that I believe ERs were a lot less common, and less utilized, than today.
As late as the mid-1970s, I can remember my mother driving me to meet our family doctor at his little office for an emergency visit.
HMOs and ERs and Urgent Care Centers came later, in that order.
Does anyone know if this was a gaffe or not?
Tow Truck Man
Just wondering what your take was on this scent where Betty's car breaks down and she is "bartering" with the tow truck man. After seeing her friend, who Don tells her is a "party girl". What was that all about?? Thoughts??
Season One Question: How did Pete know where Peggy lives?
After his bachelor party he went straight to her apartment and asked to see her. I thought they'd never met outside of work.
arthur case
does anyone know the name of the actor who plays him?
What is the name of the actress who plays "the new girl" next week?
I recognize the woman who plays the new secretary next week and I can't place her...it is driving me crazy.
Thank you!
What did Anita Mean?
I didn't see all of last year's episodes. When Peggy leaves and does not go to church she tells Anita something like I can make my own decisions. And Anita responds "well the State of New York and the doctors didn't think so". This must refer to her baby, no?
Who was the actress playing the prostitute in episode 4?
I know I've seen her somewhere before and I can't place her. She's not listed in the credits online.
Where do the characters live???
Where do Don & Betty live? I'd say Darien for an up and coming executive. What about Peggy? Probably one of the outer boroughs. I need to look at episode 4 again to see if she mentioned what train she was going to catch on her way to the office. Of course in real life many of the characters would have accents and we could tell where they came from and their social class, even the many transplants to New York City.
Rachael
Where is she???? Any word that she left the show? What about Midge?Bobbi is lacivious and cunning.. I hate her!!!!!
Blue Egg
What does it mean? Is there some significance about the father giving it to Peggy?
Betty's Fitzgerald read
Was anyone able to see which title by F. Scott she was reading in bed?
supporting cast
Does anybody know the name of the actress that played Vicki on tonight's episode? Or at least some other movies she has been in? I can't pinpoint her name! Thanks!!!!!
Secretaries vs. Peggy
Throughout the season we've seen glimpses of the secretaries' disdain for Peggy. Do you think this is just plain jealous or something much more?
Joan as office manager
I noticed that in the meeting with American Airlines, Joan was included in the staff that was ready to receive the American Airlines group. Since she was just the office manager, would she have been in on such an important meeting? I thought it was simply her job to supervise the secretaries.
