.....Someone busted Jon last season buying the DVDs, and he was adorable (of course) in saying he was just checking to make sure he "didn't suck."
Jon, man.....don't they GIVE you a set??
And, trust me, I would NEVER have recognized you.
("I'mmm invisibllle.....you can't seee meee!")
Not real happy with actors who get involved in politics.
At one time I loved the "Back to the Future" movies. When MJ Fox got involved in politics, it made me sick to watch them from then on. Ditto with "Andy Griffith", never watched another show.
Never missed a Mad Man episode, have the DVD's. I hope I can watch now and see Don Draper and not a political hack in Jon Hamm.

I was driving home this afternoon and tuned into the Connecticut affiliate of WNPR. The show was about Mad Men! Michael Gladis (who grew up in Farmington, CT) was on talking about the show and his character Paul. I almost drove off the road with excitement. It was a call in show, so, of course, I called in! His sister was in the studio, his 2 brothers and his mother all called in. I don't do well talking to famous people, so I probably sounded like a nut (not too far from the truth)! The show also had 2 gentlemen who were ad men in the early 60s. One was Sanford Teller, and one Richard Gilbert. Mr. Teller watches and enjoys the show. Mr. Gilbert feels the show doesn't capture the true essence of advertising in the time period. It was great because there was an interesting discussion between these men and Michael. Michael was so gracious to Mr. Gilbert, and said he was sorry the show didn't live up to his expectations, and to keep watching because change was coming.
Another caller was Roberta who was introduced as the head as the MM fan club in NYC.
Michael said he reads the Forum, and joked about his dissappointment with negative comments about Paul.
As David Letterman said this was a "brush with greatness for me"!!
Any other Maddicts from CT hear the show?
Duck (aka Mark Moses) has acquired a time machine and is now in LA as Joe Dobkins, the father of Deb Dobkins on Drop Dead Diva. Has anyone else spotted him or his machine?
Melinda McGraw is starring with Kelsey Grammer in a new TV show...

So what was the deal with Sally and the $5 bill? I know that $5 was worth a whole lot more in '63 then it is now (a nickle could still get you a cup of coffee then, but $5 is what you need to get one now...well, a good latte at least). Sally thought she could get away with taking the money and forgetful Granddad would never notice, but he did and wouldn't stop searching till it turned up.
But there's an interesting point that Matt W. made in a recent interview regarding Sal being caught with the bellboy. He said that "Sometimes you get away with it." Meaning, you do something you think is wrong, but you don't get caught.
Did Grandpa know Sally took the $5? Or didn't he? Sally looked really guilty and obviously expected to be called on the carpet for the crime, but it never happened. Did she "get away" with it or not? She didn't get to keep it, obviously, but she wasn't punished for the theft either.
Thoughts on Sally, Granddad and the missing $5?

'Mad Men' preview -- with a side of Jon Hamm!
by Jeff Jensen
This interview sheds some interesting light on the effect (and timing) of Betty's pregnancy on the Draper marriage.
Jon Hamm spoke recently in another interview about Don Draper's hollow declarations in the S2 post-shower scene, in the living room, right before he gets kicked out. He talked about the fact that, basically, Don was telling Betty (and himself) a hollow lie. I thought it was a great scene, but now I consider it an acting feat, to be able to portray that duality, with the crocodile tears and emoting, and all. He was saying all the right words, with the correct expressions and inflections, but somehow it missed the mark, and that wasn't lost on Betty, either.
Here, Jon talks about the reconciliation after returning from California, which moment between them was also was somewhat hollow and rather missed the mark, and what it could have been, were it not for the baby.
(There are no real spoilers in this interview.)
Where's the little boy Bobby gone...and who is the imposter that took his place?
Is that Embeth Davidtz playing Rebecca? She's not listed on AMC or on the IMDB site...just wondering.

So sorry I forgot to mention sooner that Jon Hamm was interviewed on the red carpet by E! last night. You can probably catch the re-runs today (right now!) and they may re-run it within E! News Weekend.
He couldn't have been more charming or self-effacing, calling himself an "idiot from Missouri" in response to the reporter's inquiry about the night-clubbing lifestyle some L.A. actors espouse.
Also, check out his new movie, an action-fantasy movie (?) which plot sounds interesting, to say the least, not to mention co-stars Emily Browning and Vanessa Hudgeons (??).....check it out.....

Mad Men's Don Draper is ready for the cuckoo nest.
Jon Hamm has signed on to star with Vanessa Hudgens in the latest flick from Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen), the action fantasy Sucker Punch.
He'll play a mysterious gambling man named High Roller in the 1950s-set flick about a young girl (Emily Browning) who faces a lobotomy after being committed to a mental hospital by her stepfather. She and her nuthouse pals plot an escape by entering an alternate reality, a sort of dream-world brothel run by the High Roller.
The flick costars Abbie Cornish, Carla Gugino, Jamie Chung and Jena Malone. Hamm will begin work after wrapping the current third season of Mad Men and the Ben Affleck-directed crime drama The Town.
Trying to start this thread again - first one never appeared. See it here at http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Jon-Hamm-Winds-Up-For-A-Sucker-Punch-14429.html
I talk about the time Rich Sommer contacted me about my blog, near the end of this interview conducted in November 2007 by Mark Molaro on The Alcove. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqZNGYit3kY
(That's the insert that comes with some Sunday newspapers).
Mmmm.. yum! He's looking like a scruffy rogue but I love it!
Congrats to Elisabeth Moss who has announced her engagement to Fred Armisen of SNL. Wonder if they met when she did a cameo with Jon Hamm?
There are so many funny parallels here - Fred plays Barack Obama, so in a virtual way, EMoss is becoming the "first lady," which is ironic because she was previously the first daughter.
Read about it: http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/watch_with_kristin/b80371_mad_mens_elisabeth_moss_snls_fred.html
Does anyone watch Burn Notice on USA? I was watching a rerun last night and recognized the actor who played Jimmy Barrett on MM - can't think of his name. He was tied up and had a gag in his mouth, but I recognized him right away!
His character was name - you guessed it - Jimmy!
Weiner's been signed for a third and fourth season. Finally.
According to Variety.com, "Details of the pact were sketchy Friday, but it is said to cover Weiner's services on "Mad Men" for the show's third and fourth seasons as well as other TV development. It also includes a component for a feature project through Lionsgate."
Does anyone know who the actor is that seduced Betty? Will he be coming back to the show? Maybe in a dream sequence for Betty. I think he's too handsome to ignore and would keep Don on his toes. Don should never find out though because it would ruin Betty for him.
Thing is.
I want Matthew Wiener back and I am sure more people than I want the same thing.
Don Draper, Peggy Olsen, Pete Campbell and Joan Holloway among others, started out like little sparks in Matthew Wieners head. Only he know their core, their background, their inner thoughts and their future.
We still peeling off the layers here. What happens if someone else takes over? What Matthew Wiener had in mind for the characters that are his creation will just be someone else´s take on it.
Its pretty funny. Jon Hamm is a great sport!

Just got my February copy of "Vanity Fair" and found an interesting article inside on January Jones. I must say, if Don Draper saw these pictures, he would never stray again!! She is certainly a beautiful woman, and I almost did not recognize her as the actress playing "our Betty." Once again she is compared to a Hitchcock blonde, while her Mad Men character is described as "uncorking a magnum of cool wrath.....emerging as the show's presiding enigma.....while inching along a hairline crack of hysteria." Yeah, that sounds like our girl!
I rented this movie just to see her. Because it's set in 1970, she really looks the Betty Draper part. I have no doubt that it was because of her role in this movie that Matthew Weiner cast her. She was absolutely the perfect image.
For what it's worth, I really enjoyed the movie. My sister went to Marshall beginning in 1973 and I remember the story all too well.
The talented actress Anne Dudek, who plays our beloved "Francine Hanson" gave birth to her first son, Akiva, on December 14.
According to Anne's husband, the well-known painter Matthew Heller, both Anne and Akiva are doing well.
All of us Maddicts hope to see more of "Francine" with Betty Draper once Season Three starts.
Best wishes to both our beloved "Joan" played by the ever delightful Christina Hendricks. In real life she is engaged to a decent fellow actor Geoffrey Arend.
This afternoon the TV Guide website carried the good news, so we can believe it. TVG even has an adorable photo of the happy couple.
I heard he has a couple episodes in the can with more to come after the new year as Tina Fey's love interest, hmmm. Anybody else got info on when we will see this?
Last night the Maddicts met at P.J. Clarke's in New York. It was a resounding success -- it was me, Steve (Old Fashioned), Madmenfan4ever (from Atlanta), wasthere and Bappy (from Philadelphia) plus a friend of theirs, Drapery (from Long Island), Phyllis (from New York), and Katie89 (from New York). We all got along famously and everyone had a great time!
As Steve, Suzanne (Madmenfan4ever), and I were standing on 3rd Ave. waiting for people to show up, guess who we see walking by???? BRYAN BATT, who had gotten an Evite from a friend of his informing him about the party and telling him to show up and say hello! And he did!
Lo and behold she has a recurring role as a gossipy switchboard operator at Sterling Cooper
Oh and gotta love her '60s style eye makeup
Today I went to the matinee performance of "Speed-The-Plow" on Broadway, starring Jeremy Piven, Raul Esparza, and Elisabeth Moss. It was terrific! Much better than I expected. After the performance, the actors ask for donations for Broadway Cares, an AIDS charity. It's a Broadway tradition that at this time of year the actors come forward after the show to personally raise money for this very worthy cause. Elisabeth was standing right at the door taking donations. As I dropped some money into the pot, I looked her right in the eye and said, "I just want to tell you how much I love Mad Men -- the best show on television. The greatest show EVER on television." She smiled, and said "Thank you." She was very sweet and much prettier in person than she appears on the show. She was also terrific in her part as the temporary secretary in this tale of Hollywood greed and ambition. Just thought I'd share my brush with greatness. Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
on TCM today 5:45 pm (eastern Canada time) there is a movie with Robert Morse here is a link http://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title.jsp?stid=3032

IMHO Jon should be #1.
Elisabeth Moss will be on "Best Week Ever with Paul F. Tompkins" tonight (I was off by a week last week).
Bestweekever.tv will have a preview up later toady.
11pm on VH1
What's this I'm reading about online and in hard copy? There's a chance Matthew Weiner will be replaced on MadMen? Attention all MadMenaddicts: Log on and show your support for Mr. Weiner staying with the show - or it's no show at all! The man is brilliant and can never be replaced! Matthew Weiner is MadMen's HEART AND SOUL....!!!
Hi everyone
I used to watch Providence all the time, but I do not exactly remember Jon. Who did he play & what season was he in.
Thanks
My son was watching "American Wedding", a typically dumb teen flick in the "American Pie" franchise tonight and I noticed January Jones had a pretty big part as the main female character's sister. It must have been filmed fairly recently as she looked and acted very similar to her Betty character. I checked online and most sites other than IMDB don't even credit her in the Bio.
I was thumbing through the numerous ads in the December Vanity Fair magazine when lo and behold there was Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt ! They look like the beautiful couplemodeling those clothes.Jon looked very un Don Draper, nevertheless still the sexy beast with his five o'clock shadow. Jennifer is one lucky lady.I wonder who else is going to pop up in ads during the off season?
Elisabeth will be on Best Week Ever with Paul F. Tompkins this Friday night at 11pm on VH1. Check it out.
I watched last week's CSI and spotted Peyton List (our fair Jane Siegel) as an amateur S&M scene owner.
Other than Maggie Siff (Rachel) on FX's "Sons of Anarchy" and Rosemarie DeWitt (Midge), what other MM actors have you seen in productions?
Has any one caught Maggie Siff on "Sons of Anarchy"? On Demand has the past episodes. Her unique beauty and acting skills really shine in this very different role. Katie Segal is fantastic as the biker chick queen. Check it out!
Did anyone/everyone see Jon Hamm in this week's Personality Parade in Parade Magazine?
@ 9:30 PM EST.
I found it scheduled in my program guide (DirecTV) today.
From my fav entertainment news guy, Michael Ausiello of EW, I hear that our Jon Hamm is going to be on 30 Rock this season for "multiple" episodes. His character may be a love interest for Tina Fey's character. Sweet! More Jon is a great thing. :)
Here's a link to the article (copy and paste if it doesn't work.

There's a wonderful article on Elizabeth Moss (Peggy) in the Wall Street Journal 10/28, by Joanne Kaufman, entitled, "Again, She's Portraying a Fish Out of Water in the Steno Pool". Ms. Moss is currently in David Manet's "Speed-the-Plow" at the Barrymore Theatre and if anyone has seen it please post your experience for us. The lovely Ms. Moss also enjoys traveling the subways and streets of the City but is decidedly mum on any talk of MM's future plot lines. She's a wonderful and warm and mega-talented woman and the MM cast is so happy for her, as should we all be. Bravo Ms. Moss, our MM Wonder-Woman!
Darn i missed it! Forgot it was this week and I could only find the 2 sketchs on NBC's website. Is there a place to watch the whole thing, I'd love to see him. I've never even seen him doing an interview
Sotry on EW.com Pop Watch about Jon Hamm on SNL. With clip of Don Draper's Guide to Women
http://popwatch.ew.com/
Thread to discuss Jon's hopefully successful role on SNL. It will be different for me personally to see him in such a setting. On Mad Men, he's mainly serious, then on interviews he's really laid back. However, by the promos, this should be an awesome SNL. We'll see how it goes (especially those on the east coast)
Did not see any mention in all the posts of anyone recodnizing Stephanie Courtney. She plays one of the 3 telephone switchboard operators on Mad Men. (the tall brunette one with horned rimmed glasses) It took me a while to figure it out, but besides being on Mad Men, she also plays the quirky salesperson, "FLO" on the most recent Progressive Insurance Commercials.
I do not know her character's name on Mad Men, but she seems very talented and it would be neat for the writers of Mad men to expand her character more. It was neat to finally put 2 + 2 together to figure out where else I had seen her!
Good Luck, Stephanie!
Here are some photos from last nights' opening of David Mamet's Speed-the-Plow, starring Jeremy Piven, Elisabeth Moss and Raul Esparza.
I just finished watching John on the Regis show this a.m. Did anyone else see it? Hopefully, this will draw in more people to watch our favorite program.
Lots of good info in this interview...it's a bit long, but very informative! Check it out!

I heard a rumor that Hamm will be hosting Saturday Night Live this weekend, How do I find out if it is true?
His name does not appear on the website as a guest, but I'm fairly sure that's what RP said this morning. I was in busy waiting room - perhaps someone else can verify.
Does anyone realize the shared actors from MM and Desperate Housewives? Duck Phillips (Mark Moses) was a key character in season I, Roger Sterling (John Slattery) played Eva Longoria's politician husband, and Anna Draper (Melinda Page Hamilton) played a nun in love with Eva Longoria's first husband Carlos. What's next - Marcia Cross as Joan's sister? They're both tall redheads...
Master of being quietly effective. Would have thought he'd be Klaatu in 'The Day The Earth Stood Still". Remake will have difficulty being better than the original.
Did anyone else notice any similarities with these two characters? Don/Dick and Tony S. both seem more comfortable and open talking with Anna & Svetlana than with their wives. They both have issues with their legs (I assume Anna had polio?). Their faces are also similar.
Guess this week when I DVR SNL I'll actually have to watch some of the painfully unfunny skits instead of FF to the Weekend Update segment. Should be interesting to see if they pull off a MM send up. Mad TV did a shout out to MM with this skit a few weeks ago- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmUr1CBbQbM
ITS 10AM SUNDAY MORNING, AND I'M WATCHING THE REPEAT OF MM CAUSE IT WAS SO BORING I FELL ASLEEP LAST SUNDAY NIGHT....AND I'LL BE DAMNED IF IT WASN'T MR SHEFFELD FROM THE NANNY! WILL SOMEBODY SEND ME MY DAMNED SCRIPT PLEASE! ....WHOS NEXT? THE "SHE BANG" MAN FROM AMERICAN IDOL?
COME ON SHE IS THE STAR HERE! THREAD AFTER THREAD PEOPLE HAVE FALLEN IN LOVE WITH THIS WOMAN, YET HER PART SEEMS TO BE GETTING SMALLER. I'M SICK OF ALL THESE NEW CHARACTERS, AND MM NOT USING THE TALENTED ACTORS THEY STARTED OUT WITH ORIGINALLY.THE CHARACTER OF JOAN IS WHY I STARTED WATCHING THE SHOW, AND IF YOU DON'T START GIVING CHRISTINA HENDRICKS A LITTLE MORE AIR TIME YOU CAN HAVE THIS GETTING TO BE "BORING" SHOW
I just watched the show and saw Don, Pete, Joan and Peggy on the show. Alex Trebec mentioned that the last show of the season. Hope this gets more people to watch!
They're both alcoholics, but with quite different personalities--Freddy's the "teddybear,"-heart-on-his-sleeve-guy you wish was your neighbor; Duck's the "sophisticate," restrained, well-mannered, decorous, never makes a scene, knows how to conduct himself and the proper thing to say in any situation...also knows not to rely "on the kindness of strangers." And after all, aren't we all, at base, stangers in the work-place?
Google the New York Post Magazine for an article on our Joan and GREAT pictures of Christina.
According to Internet Movie Data Base, www.imdb.com , John Slattery and Talia Balsam (daughter of Martin Balsam and Joyce Van Patten) were married in 1998 and are still together.
Poor Talia - her first husband was George Clooney.
Who knew?
What a great young actress. Had no idea she was a "reality show" find. Very very pretty. It's easy to see how Don could not resist her. Here's to hoping that she shows up in a number of episodes to come.
I like to analyze and philosophize and intellectualize about this show as much as the next Maddict, but forget that this once...I WANT JON HAMM SHIRTLESS AND WET MORE OFTEN. The man looked incredible yesterday. I was mesmerized. Anyone else?
http://www.nypost.com/pagesixmag/issues/20081012/Some+It+Hot+Christina+Hendricks
Don ..er, I mean, Jon Hamm, will be hosting Saturday Night Live on October 25 !!
It's not on the NBC/SNL page yet, but according to a few googled articles -- and TVGuide.com -- (thanks for the tip-off, samg!) he will be the guest host. I'm so excited I can barely type. I hope they'll do at least one Mad Men-type skit.
Does anyone know ... is the Season 2 finale confirmed for Oct 26? If so, it'd make for a perfectly-timed SNL appearance. However, that weekend will be oh-so bittersweet .....
If they do what would you want them to know? Keep in mind they are working really, really long hours . Some of them could be posting right now under assumed names. Where is Visan?
** TV ALERT ** On Thursday, Oct 9, Bryan Batt (Sal Romano) will be on Martha Stewart (check local listings - clips likely posted online afterwards).
Aloma Wright was fantastic as Viola, Betty's childhood maid. Her work was complex, layered, compassionate, and grounded. It is a shame that we won't see much more of her (if at all) as the show moves forward...
IT IS DRIVING ME CRAZY!!! WHAT SHOW WAS THE NEW SECRETARY ON? DOES ANYONE OUT THERE KNOW? THANKS
I DVR the series show "The Divison" that airs on Life Time Real Women channel. It is #126 or #129 on Time Warner airing 4pm eastern time 7 days a week. I think it was shot in 2004. Fun to watch Jon and see some of Don Draper in this other character... anyone else watching??
I see the influence of Stanley Kubrick everywhere in MM -- the extraordinary sense of light and space, the predilection for long, portrait-like takes of characters, and a certain kind of narrative restraint. Bobbie alluded once to "Spartacus" and I wonder if that wasn't a kind of acknowledgement of a master. On the other hand, "Lolita" is 1962 and Don appears not to have seen it despite all of his movie-going. "Strangelove" comes in 64....
I have noticed in interviews, pictures etc... that these 2 don's seem very cozy.. did you notice at the emmy's, Jon went up on stage and January was behind him, he turned around and didn't even acknowledge her... on the other hand... Eliz Moss is always next to him and a few times on his lap in pics... when they went on stage at the Emmys, he reached over and put his arm around her...just something I noticed. Anyone else?
According to ABC's website JJ will appear Friday night - 10/3/08 at 12:05AM - which makes it very early Saturday if setting to record.
I just happened to be flicking stations last night and came upon MadTV and thought where have I seen that person before and she was the woman who played Don Draper's secretary after Peggy ... here is a link to her website http://cristaflanagan.com/ it is amazing I even recognized her cuz she looks so different ... I really liked her character on MM too hope they bring her back
I flipped around during a commercial and there was Sal talking about being gay. Did anyone else see him?
When Peyton List became Don's secretary I thought where have I seen her before?
Well now I know....she was Cameron on TV's Big Shots on ABC. Love her new role! It is so much better!
Jon Hamm's voice as Don Draper sounds very familiar to me - the pitch and intonation - as well some of his facial expressions.. It took me a couple of episodes, but I think I've got it narrowed down to either Robert Fuller ("Wagon Train," "Emergency!") or Christopher George (1929-1983). My hesitation is mainly because it's been a while since I've seen anything that George or Fuller was in. There's also a third possibility of a actor in Westerns in the 1960s, whose name I don't know (sorry, not very helpful) - but he was a big guy, bigger than John Wayne or Fess Parker usually appeared, who frequently played the sheriff.
Ok, I SWEAR I don't normally read this rag, but I was in a very long checkout line at the grocery store and there it was. Obviously written by a back-biting anonymous person, it says he is petty and full of himself and has a big ego. Imagine that, an actor with a big ego!
Nice big picture of Christina and her green gown at the Emmys though!
who plays Harry
he was on The Office last night and looks like he will have a re-ocurring role

I was a little confused that Mr. Morse's nomination was for Best Guest on a Drama series. I thought he was a principle player, especially in Season One.
I was disappointed that he didn't win!
I really really wanted to see him go on stage in a pair of socks! LOL!!
Matt Weiner, Jon Hamm, and John Slattery are guest on NPR's Fresh Air this past Monday. Here's the link. Take a listen and discuss. There was a lot of insight that I had not heard before about the show, how the ahttp://www.npr.org/templates/rundowns/rundown.php?prgId=13&prgDate=09-22-2008&view=storyviewctors got the parts and other insights. Great!
Read this on some other sights. Wanted to share! Woo-hoo!
Did anyone notice the strained behavior between Jon Hamm and January Jones. They stood side by side on the stage but never looked at one another or spoke to one another. Does anyone know what their off-screen deal is?
Wow, is there any way that January Jones' dress can be written into an episode? Man oh man, how hot was that?
CHRISTINA HENDRICKS LOOKED FABULOUS ON THE RED CARPET . GIRLFRIEND GAVE THEM PURE-TEE BOSOMS! SHE WAS A THROW-BACK TO THE GLAMOUR GIRLS OF THE 50'S, BRAVO MISS HENDRICKS YOU DID THE "BOYS" PROUD
Just showed Christina Hendricks arriving on the red carpet on E!. Gorgeous green-toned gown, looking like a beautiful Greek Goddess! GO MAD MEN! Sweep the Emmys!
....check out John ("Jon?") Hamm on The Soup (on E!) this weekend, telling a very funny story about his experience being kidnapped by Regis Philbin....
he does a pretty good "Reege" also....

Do you know how Don Draper's story will end?
Okay, I'm back from the WGA event & Matt was there with Robin Veith who started off as his writing assistant and is now part of the staff. She co-penned "The Wheel" with Matt & used to travel with Ringling Bros circus. Matt had the final nostaglia speech Jon made at the end of the epi before the Kodak wheel. He asked his prop folks to come up with a product that would thematically fit. Anyway, Matt said his favorite scene in the pilot is when Don pulls out his desk drawer and gets a fresh white shirt. He said they're on a tight 7-day schedule, meaning they turn over a new script every week! To save money on a scene that would have normally cost $100K, they shot the flashback scene with Don on the train, back from the war, in a ROOM. They shook the camera to give the effect of a moving train. They went through 90 actors before choosing Jon Hamm. He said he knew JH was Don as soon as he saw him. Also, Jon was super nervous during his audtion. Elizabeth Moss was the second audition to read for the part & he hired her right away. I was too much of a dummy head to go say hello after the event but he seemed like a cool guy although admitting to being quite anal. But Mad Men is all in the details so it makes sense.
What did Matt Weiner say at the WGA tonight. Please tell us!!
Don't worry, it looks like a guest appearance.....

Does Jon Hamm really play poker with Jimmy Kimmel on Friday nights?
As I have mentioned before, I have not seen all of Season 1's episodes, so the characters are still unfolding for me. My question is, just how much do you think the actors knew initially about the characters they were chosen to play? Do you think Mr. Weiner had a clear picture in his mind regarding each character and how he/she would act and react as the story unfolds. For instance, did the actor portraying Sal know from the start that his character would be a closeted gay man? In the few scenes I have seen of Sal from Season 1 I did not immediately assume he was gay. Has Don's character development as major a cheat and liar come as a surprise to Jon Hamm as it has for the viewer? I guess I am asking how much did the actors know and when did they know it?
Tell every little thing you like/love about Jon Hamm. Guys too, Regis did!
Jon Hamm was on "Regis and Kelly" today talking about the show and his Emmy nomination. He looked so good and smiled a lot, so he looked really different than Don Draper. Kelly told him that Regis had a 'bromance" aka man crush for him. Then he talked about some story when he was younger and he had his shirt off. Kelly said "wait back up, what was that about you with your shirt off?" and Regis said "back off he's mine." It was hilarious. Jon seemed really calm and down to earth and kind of shy.
I think Rachel is definitely out. The actress playing her is now on the new FX series, "Sons of Anarchy," playing a biker chick-turned-surgeon. She has quite a nice tramp-stamp tattoo that Don might have enjoyed!.
Anyone know the name of the playtex model that pete went home with? It is driving me crazy as I can't find it anywhere!
Can anyone, maybe on the show, verify that Pete's mother, Dot, was Mrs. Peel on Little House on the Prairie? She was very good on the show, I hope that we see more of her. I love that snooty type!
I'm a Brian Krause fan.....it is my understanding that Brian Krause will be guest starring in an upcoming episode of MAD MEN....someone please confirm this for me!!!!!
Is anybody going to make the trip to NYC to see her in this show? I bet she'll be great!

I've noticed that the male characters seem to wearing some type of striped, see-through socks. They look pretty cool. Any idea about how the actors feel about wearing them?
Anyone out there think that Jon Hamm's outstanding acting comes from him NOT saying anything? Does a few words and a look raise the hairs on your neck? How many scenes can you remember where his actions and few words sent the message home?
does anyone know the name of the actor who plays him?
I recognize the woman who plays the new secretary next week and I can't place her...it is driving me crazy.
Thank you!
I know I've seen her somewhere before and I can't place her. She's not listed in the credits online.
She reminded me of a cross between Ellen Page and Parker Posey-- neither IMDB nor AMC is mentioning her name.... anybody have a clue?
Only when the credits rolled did I realize the priest was played by the son of Tom Hanks! Colin Hanks. I thought he was going to seduce Peggy at one point!
Toronto Star television critic Rob Salem interviews Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner on the most recent Hardcore Nerdity Podcast (HCN 14). Head over to www.hardcorenerdity.com. It's pretty cool!
If you've seen the interviews, you know the difference. Whom do you prefer?
Oh my gosh... I just figured out that Christina Hendricks was on Firefly as Mal's X-Wife Safron. Wow, she IS good!
Joan seems to be much larger that the other women on the show. Do you think she is padded, and not just in the bust, but the hips too? I know how actresses are always very thin, so if they could find one that was actually zoftig, that would be a change. She looks spectacular in her outfits.
In the restaurant Jimmy when said "Loved you in Gentleman's Agreement" he was saying that Don bears a resemblance to Gregory Peck, who was the star of that film. And yes, he does. Same dark good looks. Even the voice is similar. Jon Hamm, the new Gregory Peck.
Jon Hamm is scheduled to be on Tavis Smiley's PBS show on Friday.

Jon Hamm reminds me of Rod Serling and January Jones reminds me of Angie Dickinson
Hi all!
Just wanted to let you know that Tango, an online magazine about love and relationships, has two new stories from the actresses of Mad Men. Hear from
Elisabeth Moss, who plays character Peggy Olson, in "Diary of a Mad Ad Woman" (http://www.tangomag.com/20085936/diary-of-a-mad-ad-woman.html) and Christina Hendricks, who plays Joan Holloway, in "Driving The Mad Men Wild" (http://www.tangomag.com/20085904/driving-the-mad-men-wild.html/2). Both dish on season two!
Happy reading to the Mad Men fans!
To my knowledge, Vincent Kartheiser (Pete Campbell) turns 29 today, so I though this might be the appropriate place for us fans to send some birthday wishes ;-)
I wish him all the luck he can get for his private life and as much success as possible for Mad Men and every upcoming project :-)
Did anybody know what category Vincent's Award was in? Something like "male breakthrough" or "supporting actor TV"? I can't find any information on it, neither here nor at the magazine's site. Do the "Young Hollywood Awards" have any categories at all?
Did Elizabeth Moss, the actress who plays Peggy, actually have a baby? If not, I think the costume and make up people did a remarkable job -- especially with the fat around the jaw line.
