The new black secretary

I hope they show us more about her life, just as they have shown us more about Michael. I keep imagining that before she went in, someone (a black friend, relative, church member, minister, etc.) gave her "the talk" that many of us black folks get when we are about to become the "first black" whatever. Usually, an old black person takes it upon themselves... LOL.

The Talk
"Look, they expect us to fail, so you make sure that you are better than the best! And don't be LATE! And make sure that you mind your own business. And listen. Do a lot more listening than talking, but mind your business; you find out more that way. Be an asset. I don't care how small the job is, you be the best. You HAVE to be. And don't be late. Oh...and don't you turn your nose up at the cleanup people. Show some respect...they usually are the eyes and ears of the place. And you know some people weren't raised right, so don't take it too personally if someone says something foolish. Still, have some backbone...Don't take a whole lot of mess. You know when to put someone in line; you were raised RIGHT. Now, let me know if you need anything...don't go in there looking bad. You have to be sharp. You need money?"
