Don's old fashioned recipe

In season one Don clearly instructs Sally to muddle the fruit. In season three when Don makes Connie an old fashioned he just plops it on top. This moment with Connie is the first time we see Don mix a real drink for himself. Nothing in the show is by accident. What gives? How does Don make an old fashioned?

Is it my computer or is this site still not working properly?

For the past week I haven't been able to see the "comments" for any topic. Sometimes even the "recent activity on talk" don't show up. Whatzamatter here?

Join the Quote Game Volume 38a

The site has been malfunctioning for several days and, if past history holds, will likely continue to malfunction. One thing I have discovered on my ipad is that with the debug feature enabled, there are a lot of JavaScript errors related to the Facebook entries being listed here.

Oh--and the reason this edition is Volume 38a is because the url address for Volume 38 shows up as "join-the-quote-37". I am curious to see whether this volume will be "join-the-quote-38" in the url.

Anyone Game for a New Game?

We will go through the alphabet starting with A. All letters must relate to Mad Men in some way.

A is for Anna who loved two Don Drapers.

B is for Betty whose Don became a Dick, so she left him for Henry.

C is for ?

Mad Men contest winner Amy Doll

feels kind of strange when you are about to embark on the culmination of a moment anticipated…. I literally can see the studio across from my hotel room. Even with the current sound of protestors resinating in my ears, I can make it work in my world today as I enter into the 1960's, with drama, class, and maybe even a martini for show. Thank you all again for the votes… I'm headed to LA Center Studios for Mad Men! xx

How would the MAD MEN cast look today?

Take your best guess as to how the cast members of MM would look today, 45 years later! I believe Don Draper would closely resemble a mix between Ward Cleaver and Hugh Hefner.

Don Draper RIP

Things said and overheard at his memorial by those who knew him, and knew of him.

Jon Hamm on America in Prime Time

This program was on PBS. Several directors, producers, writers, and actors, including Joh Hamm discussed the role of "fathers" in TV. It included the early days of Father Knows Best right up to Breaking Bad and Mad Men. It had several clips from MM including parts of the Carousel episode.

Betty Draper Francis's 'How to Stay Successfully Married to Don Draper' Manual"!

Brought over from The Quote Game thread.

Okay, since we're all going nuts trying to kill time here. . .

I was just watching the classic film, "Dinner at Eight," with Harlow, and Barrymore, and Beery and that fabulous cast and thought. . . hmmmm. . . if Mad Men were made as a film around this time, say 1935 to 1940, who would be cast in which role???? Ideas???

Here's mine:

Don Draper. . . . . . . . . . . . Tyrone Power
Betty. . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . Mary Astor
Peggy. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Bette Davis
Roger Sterling. . . . . . . . . . Charles Boyer (we'll deal with the French accent)
Bert Cooper . . . . . . . . . .. . Charles Coburn
Joan. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Lana Turner
Duck. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Raymond Massey

Now, that's SOME cast, just for starters.
