I expect that wasthere might be busy celebrating the Phillies' three-game sweep of my Pirates, so it falls to me to initiate Volume 30.
On a normal Mad Men schedule we'd be warming up for episode 2 or 3 of Season V, but I guess we'll have to make do tonight with "Breaking Bad" and see whether Walter, Jesse, Gus, or Mike knocks someone off.

Well, this is all I can contribute to this great talent who died much too soon. I loved her so. What a personality/songstress/lyricist/musician/presence!! She will live on with us all!!

When does the new season begin?

The latest news is that there was nothing suspicious to her death!
She was such a talent and deserves her own thread here. It was her catchy tune that caught my interest in Mad Men (Her Promo Song, "You Know I'm No Good"! I could just see every character on the show saying this particularly Don Draper. Mad Men folks know talent and I'm so grateful to this show for introducing me to Amy Winehouse, a true, true talent gone too soon. Let's salute Amy and Mad Men for bringing in such extraordinary talent!!
The Summer Jet Set
The temperatures are rising across America and people everywhere are trying to keep cool. Summer parties in the 60's were all about adults and cocktails. A backyard BBQ included watermelon spiked with vodka and coolers filled with beer. I remember relatives so drunk they fell backwards in the kiddie pools and uncles who barely missed being caught on fire from the excessive BBQ lighter fluid as they tossed in a lit match on the charcoals. Any good 60's summer stories out there that will give us a good laugh as we try to get through this heat?

Well, the Emmy nominations are out-MM got 19-not bad. I was very happy to see Christina Hendricks get a nomination, and I was estatic to see Randee Heller (Miss Blankenship) get one also. She was wonderful in the part. I am really pulling for her. Also hope this is the year Jon Hamm/Elisabeth Moss win. Also, I hope The Suitcase wins for writing-best episode of Season 4.

BATT SIGHTING
I'm a fan of Law & Order, Criminal Intent and what a nice surprise to see "Sal" in an episode. He portrayed a sophisticated wine critic. Several good close-ups - he's as handsome as ever.

In which episode did a 1958 Cadillac limousine appear?
A friend of mine owns a 1958 Cadillac Fleetwood Series 75 limousine. For two days during the summer of 2009, he was on the Mad Men set, during which his car was occupied by Roger Sterling smoking and reading a newspaper in the back seat, and in another scene was joined in the back seat by Don Draper. Does anyone recollect which episode these scenes occurred? My guess is sometime in Season 3. Thank you.

Seems Matt Weiner had a birthday in these last few days, Maddicts. I know we are just "that other Mad Men site" (!) but still I thought we could say we hope he had a wonderful 46th I suppose. June 29, 1965 was a very lucky day for Maddicts! And who knows? He might just read us on the sly. Don't let the Lipp Sisters find out!
