I'm doing a project focusing on marriage in the fifties/sixties. Obviously I jumped at the change to use Mad Men - can anyone suggest episodes where marriage was really shown with interaction between the couple?

The Gold Violin, Night to Remember and The Inheritance would be good ones from season 2. Also both season 1 and season 2 finales.

Some suggestions:

5G, Shoot, The Wheel, The Benefactor, The Gold Violin, A Night to Remember, Three Sundays, Love Among the Ruins, The Arrangements, The Fog, Souvenir, The Gypsy and the Hobo.

Season 1, episode 3 is great. Mostly because when the kids are playing house in the backyard you can hear them mimic their parents. Things like "You dented the car" and "I Like sleeping on the couch." Plus at the party, you see a bunch of couples interacting, including the lone couple who genuinely enjoy each others company.

Also, season 1, episode 2. Betty and Don fight about her seeing a therapist - rife with commentary about the standard marriage dynamic.
