music from Season 2: e1

does anyone know what the music is that played at the end of Season 2: episode 1? (For Those Who Think Young). I wish they'd list the ending music for each episode on the web site. Each one is so compelling and seems to be related to the story line. My local library is my hero for stocking all the Mad Men episodes! It's great to watch with FF, REW and PAUSE.

The music is “Song of India,” originally written by composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and from the opera, “Sadko.“ It was re-imagined and transformed for this episode into a simple yet elegant piece by series composer David Carbonara. It’s available on “Mad Men - Original Score Vol. 1“. It was used earlier in the same episode when Betty was descending the staircase at the Savoy Hotel to meet Don for a Valentine‘s Day lunch.

I love the music on Mad Men too! The music, topics, scenery and everything in the show is very true to the 1960s. I wish AMC had a radio station we can listen to on the website with music from the 60's (HINT, HINT)!

I love that music, too. The first time I saw the scene, it took my breath away, and I was overcome with what I saw as promise for them as a couple.
Of course, I picked up on the illusion vs reality theme of the episode and the beginning of the change in power, indeed, the whole dynamic of the Draper's marriage, but nothing can take away my initial reaction and how beautiful January Jones was descending the staircase at the Savoy and the look of pride on Jon Hamm's face. they were incredibly believable in the scene.

David Carbonara is incredible in his utilization of original and other source music for the series.

Thank you grumpyoldguy! Now I'm curious to listen to the Rimsky-Korsakov v Mr. Carbonara version. The music was so compelling and almost ironic (if music can convey irony!) just like the episode. Betty comes down the stair, Don looks on admiringly and then....they run into that couple ...the one that Betty used to know the woman. Betty thinks she's so dazzling and Don has to tell her that the woman is a party girl. A wonderful scene and like katheimarie says, incredibly believable. Thanks Lady T...I hope they are listening...

I found a web site where you can listen to the song as it was written by Rimsky-Korsakov for the opera.

The enchanting melody is there and listening to the operatic version it really makes me appreciate that David Carbonara chose it for the episode and how he "re-imagined" it. Thanks again, grumpyoldguy!

The Song of India...From now on I will always think of January Jones when I hear that song. Not a bad way of thinking of a person and complimenting them at the same time.
