JHamm's Body Hair...

Yes, before you say it, I KNOW I'm a fanatic Maddict. So there. Now, about that hair - JH obviously is a dreamboat, but that beard is too much! If I were his stylist, I would counsel some lasering to get rid of a few layers of it, just to bring it down to a manageable amount. Remember the scene in which he is in bed with Miss Farrell and her brother drops in unexpectedly? JH stands up, showing us a lot of chest hair, then turns around, exhibiting a perfectly clean back- That had to be a shave or (ouch!) wax job.
Um-m-m, new career move for me, waxing JH.....I'd
do it for free, wouldn't you?

Not necessarily, flower, my Dad had lots of chest hair (ala JH or Sean Connery, even) yet none on his back. My husband ditto.

I just mean that not every hairy-chested man has a hairy back to go with it.

I am of the older generation (born 1951) and I love a hairy chest....back....not so much, ha! I even kinda like a five-o'clock shadow...as long as I don't have to kiss it.

But, yes, I would like to give JH a nice back massage...in lieu of the wax job.

sigh......= - }

lol - i love, love, love, Jon Hamm's five- o'clock shadow - in fact, i think don drapper looks his sexiest when is out of that darn suit. i particularly enjoy watching Jon Hamm in the scenes when don is just getting out of bad or sporting some casual clothes!

Personally, I love male body hair. Everywhere. And, Jon has a nice layer going. Everywhere...

Men and women's bodies should be different, you know. I don't mind facial hair or shadow, either. A mustache is almost mandatory. I guess I've run into the type of hair that is neither coarse or repulsive.

{{going to turn on fan now...}} :)

....here, grey....have some of my ice water.

....sizzle sizzle

...............sigh

yes, j9.....didn't you love the scene when Jon was shaving in that episode way back there (think pink towel) when Sally came in to watch Daddy shave.....?

oh me....now I have to have another sip of that water.

~~~~dump~~~~
there, I dumped it over my head....it's the only thing that helps.
love that Hamm......= - }
Once again, I am odd woman out. JH is gorgeous, no doubt about it. My own, personal, unique to me, problem is character. Yes, even on t.v. -- or especially on t.v. It happens for me with female characters as well, so please don't think me sexist. It's just that no matter how good looking an actor/actress is, my physical attraction to them is always influenced by the character they play. I can start out a series or movie thinking the actor/actress is gorgeous but if the character they play becomes honorless (not a word) in my eyes, their physical attractiveness lessens. I have to wait to see the actor/actress in another role in which they play a more honorable character to appreciate their attractiveness. It doesn't work for me to tell myself" "that's just a character they are playing, who knows what they are like in "real life". As a result, JH has become less attractive to me than he was in say, season one. I know, that's really silly and illogical. JH, if you're reading this, I hope you take from it that you are an excellent actor, otherwise you could not have this effect on me.
I know what you mean, bipolar....someone can strike one as impossibly gorgeous upon first meeting, but then....if they have a crummy personality, it can indeed make them much less attractive. It's a sad truth, isn't it?
Yes, I know what you mean. My grandmother had some type of saying that a certain type of girl was "pretty until she opened her mouth". Ditto for guys. Anna Nicole Smith was an example -beautiful as an angel but very low class. (However, let's not speak ill of the dead. It's disrespectful of their state and also bad luck.)
In real life, people seem as attractive or unattractive to me as their actions. In movies, I often carry the character of one actor over into another part he or she is playing. Remember when Holly Hunter's husband cuts off her finger in The PIano? I have never been able to look at him in any other part except with revulsion. Good thing he usually plays bad guys.
Back to the hair - It's been the style for a number of years now for men to grow some scruffy beard, sort of a half-shaved look. I don't get it.To me it looks kind of dirty, especially when they are on the red carpet, all dressed up with three day's growth. I just imagine getting my face grated with that if they kissed me. Ouch!
Tom Hanks, perfect example...no way would anyone classify him as classically handsome but he is very appealing because of his great personality and acting ability. I'm not even sure if he's that wonderful of an actor, to be frank, it's just that he's just so damn appealing that I give him a lot of slack! I think Colin Hanks (Father Gill) has that same deal going on as his dad but to a lesser degree. Hugh Jackman, same thing....family man all the way (so far!) and soooo appealing in all ways, IMO. Same thing with Rich Sommer....he's more attractive than he actually is (physically) because he is a great guy (again, so far!) I could go on and on....oops, I think I already did....
They just have that "thing" that makes someone magnetic. Not so much in recent years (Tom Hanks, anyway -- he's in a rut with those crazy, hard-to-follow riddle (?) type movies!)
Of course, Jon Hamm has that great-guy-in-person bit going on, but he plays a stinker in Mad Men, which has hurt his general attractiveness a bit in my eyes, but not much! LOL
Ooops, forgot to add Paul Newman to that mini-list up there....gorgeous in both appearance and the way he lived his life. Zoweeee....here's a refresher pic.....Lord!
This is even in his silver fox years....he held up well for a very very long time, IMO.
Hey, j9...I just detected a little "freudian slip" of yours up there (Dec. 4 post)!
About Jon Hamm looking his sexiest "just getting out of 'bad'" (meaning "bed") !!....certainly apropos, I must say, considering who you're talking about, and what he does in "bad/bed" besides sleep! heeee
user-pic
well, if it's just a matter of physical appearances, I think it is safe to acknowledge whether or not a person is attractive. And Jon Hamm is definitely adorable in the looks dept. Even in other stuff I've seen him in (such as a brief appearance in The Unit).
I never liken a character an actress or actor portrays with the person. It's just that, a character...a role. A good actor/actress can take on many different characters and make them all believable.
Plus, I don't know these people so it's hard for me to say "I like/don't like him/her" based on some character they may play.
If that makes sense.
